The B6 P5P products are typically enteric coated...the quality ones that is.

This means it doesn't dissolve in the stomach, as enteric coatings won't dissolve when acid is present.

P5P is not included in the methylation system the way B12 and folic acid are. B6 is used to help reduce homocysteine, which is considered a risk factor for some heart disease.

So it is not really essential for MTHFR supplements. It does help with remyelination of nerves, and muscle functions. Pyridoxine in vitamins is converted to P5P in the liver by an enzyme called pyridoxal kinase.

You don't really need it at this point, unless your testing shows you are low.

50mg of P5P tablets typically has 35mg of B6 in them. They say 50mg but part of that is the phosphate portion.

If it concerns you, just skip it.
