Default constant muscle spasms

hi ...

i'm a new member and i'm not sure where to go or if i am in the right forum ...

i fell at work 2 years ago and ever since have developed severe, almost
unbearable muscle spasms in my left leg to the point where i can barely walk ...
my leg locks up and because stiff as a board and keeps contracting ...

after an MRI of the brain, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine and knee the doctors suggested cervical surgery (disectomy with fusion) on C6/C7 ... they
saw stenosis in my cervical spine and figured that was causing the spasticity ...

i've tried gabapentin, cyclobenzaprene, and baclofen but they don't really help

i had a piriformis injection too ...

i'm just looking for answers/suggestions ...

i just picked up some ativan hoping that might help

no one has yet to give me a clear diagnosis, and i have been on crutches
now for 2 years

thanks so much, and is there a better forum to post to ??

best, christopher

and I waited to see if it would be anything more than a bruise. After about a week, I went to my boss and said that I needed to go to a Dr. I was having a large dead spot forming. My boss said, too late he had thrown away the accident report. You might look at the Movement Disorders forum. Good Luck, Ken in Texas.

If you can get a copy of the written MRI report, you can post that info on the spinal forum linked in a previous post.
It helps to see the wording used on the reports.

Soft tissue injuries can be as debilitating as nerve /bone injuries, so perhaps an expert/highly skilled chiro, advanced PT, or even therapeutic massage or just an assessment/evaluation by those, might be something to look into..if you haven't had any "hands on" therapy.

Have you tried a muscle relaxant like Flexeril?

With my profound PN I suffer terrible thigh cramps, so I always take Potassium at night, hoping to help.

I don't know of other forums, so I can't help you.

It sounds as if you have gotten the maximum professional help, Chris.

The contraction is so awful, isn't it, because it feels as if the muscle will pull completely away from your bones?

Are the crutches the result of a constant contraction and pain, or from damage done, or to prevent the contractions?

Hugs, ElaineD

I was wondering the same thing, the crutches are needed due to the fall, sounds like it was a nasty nasty fall. Magnesium is critical for spasms issues. Many are deficient in mag anyway. Soft tissue issues are to be considered. With my knee issue, it seems like I have more soft tissue issues.
