Default I know this is a .......

......PN board but has anyone been plagued by Geographic Tongue otherwise called Benign Migratory Glossitis?

Again one of those terms like idiopathic....'benign' seems to demean everything that you are feeling. However to get to the point, why at every point in my life when I've been in the lead-up to a major illness like Adrenal Insuffciency, Ascending Cholangitis, Asthma, Pneumonia and now PN that the Benign Migratory Glossitis has been and is at it's worst????

If it's that 'benign' why does it rear it's head, as a kind of prophet of impending ill health?? Any insights, flippant or otherwise would be appreciated!

Lightbulb vitamin deficiencies

typically show up in the mouth. B-complex, CoQ-10 and zinc should be tried.

Also, if you use a toothpaste with triclosan in it, you might want to switch.
Some people get mouth irritations from that ingredient.

Sucking on hard candies, especially the ones with sharp edges, can do it too.
Some candies have alot of citric acid in them. Last Easter someone at work gave
us some sour Nerds or something like that, and I got a canker sore on my tongue from
them! It hurt like the DEVIL.... so check out your candies.

Regarding the points you made about the painful tongue.

I don't eat lollies (candies) and if I ever do on very rare occasions they are not the hard ones.

Checked the toothpaste that I am using and no Triclosan is listed on the ingredient label.

I know I have zinc deficiency which occurs on a regular basis but haven't had other vitamin levels checked. I did recently have a Vit D level done and it was equivocal -(borderline low). I do take a quality multi mineral vitamin regime daily but not specific B vitamins except for the past few weeks - Vit B12 alone.

Yesterday I was coincidentally talking to a woman who was diagnosed only about eight weeks ago with Coeliac Disease. This woman is probably in her late '50's and she told me that the worst symptom she had for a few years was a sore tongue (not mouth ulcers) and then more recently anaemia and vitamin D deficiency.

I am hoping to be tested for CD soon and even if those tests show negative for CD it's possible that a gluten free diet may still help as I have had stomach and 'gut' symptoms for the last three to six months with their onset being at a similar time to the onset of PN and extreme fatigue.
