The reason I ask is that I have found that ANYTHING applied to the skin blocks the nerve receptors to the AIR, and changes the pain sensations. Some additions make this more pronounced...like Menthol which stimulates cooling nerves so the heat/burning ones are overridden.

I went back to CVS to see if they still carried it. They still have the one little bottle (from last year because I checked it). It's still on the bottom shelf.
No one has purchased it. They don't promote it or anything. I wonder why?? Melody

They offer sales, and some loss leaders to get you into the store. Advertising costs tons of $$... When new products like Neurogen come out, they sell at a lower wholesale price to some large chains, because in their ADs for it, in magazines and on the net (or TV if they get that far)...there will be the trailer..."available at CVS or whatever" CVS does NOT pay for that advertising, they made a deal to carry the product with that clause. When you see an ad in a flyer for Walgreen's or CVS...there are agreements behind the scenes. NatureMade for example, in the Buy one get one....that is one of them. NatureMade is giving those products at a discount to the pharmacy in that event.

Well, I admit, on one particularly painful day, I bought a bottle at the drug store. I was especially having problems with the lower part of my palm, just below the thumb, so that night I put some on. It did cool it down somewhat, but later the pain was back in force. I am also a bit sensitive to the smell. I think this is probably like most remedies and even medications. It works for some, but not everyone.

Not much relief....but I smell like a plant. My dog kept following me around the house....I thought my dog was going to urinate on my leg...but that is another story.
Cymbalta has started to kick in, and I am getting better each day on it...it also has had a definite impact on mood...it is not perfect, but at least I am not thinking about it constantly. The amygdala plays a big part in all this I imagine, hence the role of antidepressants. Be well to everyone, Mark |

Just to reply to you - your pharmacist will not know about the product - you need to talk to the store manager. It is a NEW product and that is why there are only two of them roughly on each shelf - we are getting it out there slow but steady. It is in a liquid form and the reason it costs so much is because it is %100 concentrated - This is not diluted as you said in your reply. I know hunders of people this works for and it is amazing how cheap it is in accordance to such pills as Lyrica and other nerve pain treatments.

It looks to me that 2 of the posters on this thread are connected to Neurogen.

Although every med has side effects. I can only speak for the one that made me quit Cymbalta, and that was urinary retention. I just flat out couldn't urinate! It is one of the side-effects of this anti-depressant.

I thought I'd relate my mom's experience. My mom had very severe nerve pain on the side of her face (near her jaw). She rubbed in a couple of drops Neuragen and, within minutes, the pain was gone. She swears by it now. She also has a friend who is using it for diabetic nerve pain in her feet and she has been able to completely relieve her pain by applying Neuragen.
Some of the posters here are not spelling the name correctly, the product is spelled Neuragen not Neurogen. They have clinical data from several trials available for download on their website (*edit*). My mom also found Neuragen through WebMD. The Neuragen website shows it being available at all major pharmacies and my mom bought it at her pharmacy with no problem. Just thought I'd share her good results. Silas.
