Well Melody you've done it again. You have totally inspired me, and I WILL start growing my own sprouts.

Since I got sick, my hubby and I have shopped exclusively at an organic store and have changed our lifestyle. He jokes with family and friends that we have gone all 'hippy'. I've been toying with the idea of growing our own vegies, but its not quite feasible on a suburban plot with a one year old massive puppy running around. But sprouts! Why didn't I think of it before? Thank you so much for the idea.

I've already found your youtube video, but perhaps a link here could save others time looking it up. I've yet to get myself a Facebook account, but when I do I'll be sure to look you up, thank you.

Thanks for the info re: Broccolli sprouts having major benefits. I will start with those. I absolutely love alphalfa, so I'm sure the Broccolli will win me over, especially since I will have nurtured them.

That is so cool.

Here is a link to a video I made YEARS ago when I began to learn how to sprout. This link will of course link you all to all my videos, many of which are of my husband using the Vitamix to make ice cream and you all will fall off of your chairs. rofl.

Default Methylcobalimin & Neuropathy

[QUOTE=MelodyL;1103670]Hi again. Forget about anything that says Cyanocobalimin. You want to get Methylcobalimin. I myself have taken 5000 every single morning for about 7 to 8 years now. I buy it off the internet at Puritan's Pride. They give really good deals. Like buying 2 bottles and getting 3 for free. I do not know if they ship to another country. But I do know that Methylcobalimin Or Methyl B12 (as we call it) is the kind of B-12 that you should be putting in your body. It nipped my neuropathy symtoms for good.

If you take cyanocobalimin, your body converts it into Methyl and you won't be getting a great deal. It's a large molecule. That's why I take 5000 every morning, on an empty stomach. It dissolves under my tongue.

I have had no side effects and I sleep quite well. And if you run this by your doctor be prepared to hear "Oh, I don't believe in B-12 therapy, it's a lot of nonsense, etc. etc". Remember, doctors practice medicine, they do not practice nutrition. We get B-12 from meat. We'd have to eat A LOT OF MEAT to get a good amount. I don't eat meat. Even if I did, I would continue to take my Methyl B-12 each and every day. Others will come along and advise you also. All the best

Hi MelodyL
I like your post. My B12 blood level is 1500. I still take 1000 mcg Methylcobalimin as a maintenance. Your right about Doctors, My Neurologist always says: My B12 is too high , stop taking it. But after reading posts on here for the last two years I am convinced its ok to keep taking it. Unfortunately I cant say it has helped my small fiber neuropathy symptoms (yet!).
Could you please explain further what you mean by it nipped your neuropathy symptoms for good. That is wonderful! Did you have a vit B12 deficiency? Was that your cause? Mine is still Idiopathic. Still looking for a cause and something good , supplements or meds to help with this pain.
Thank you in advance..

Hi, I have no idea if I ever had a B-12 deficiency but I did have the beginning of diabetic neuropathy and I knew immediately that I had to begin taking Methyl B-12. Started with 1000 and I knew I needed to take 5000 and while I do skip a day or two, I usually take one 5000 under my tongue each morning on an empty stomach. And when I indicated it nipped my neuropathy in the bud, I had numb tips of my toes and when a podiatrist used this vibrating tool on my feet, I practically jumped off of his chair, my feet BUZZED big time. They buzzed all day long. Only after many hours did they stop buzzing. So that's when I knew I had to go on the Methyl B-12.

Best of luck

Melody

Default My old B12 reading

Hi, I've just received my old test results from 2006. Vitamin B12 was at 352 ng/l. Was that too low? The doctors didnt bother with that and suspected plexus neurosis.

Yes, that is below the 400 mark which is the new low now.

Those of us with neurological symptoms here try to keep ours at least at 1000.

Thanks. My GP ordered another test and was mentioning B12 shots, because, according to her, B12 pills don't work. Maybe she is not aware of the different B12 forms. At least she is aware of the damage B12 deficiency may cause. I will start taking methylcobalamin anyway immediately after the blood test and I'm very curious about my current B12 levels.

Great. Give it some time. I bet your levels will rise. My last level was 2000. Who knew about these things. I had to come to these forums to learn what I now know to be true.

And here's a good one for you. Years ago, I was at the podiatrists office. I usually get Dr. B. That day, Dr. B was not available so Dr. S took over. He was doing my husband's feet and I mentioned to him that I take Methyl B-12 every morning for my neuropathy which became un-symptomatic. The doctor looked at me and said "Melody, I would NEVER prescribe B-12 for anyone unless they were severely anemic". I looked at him and said "Oh Really", then I began to slowly and carefully and POLITELY explain what Methyl B-12 does for people with diabetic neuropathy and people with deficiencies in B-12.

He looked at me and said' "That's a lot of nonsense". I said nothing

Exactly one year later, Alan and I are at Dr. B's and we are sitting in his office and Dr. S pops in and says "Hi there, can you tell me all you know about Methyl B-12 and neuropathy, because I just got diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy"

A doctor asked ME about B-12. Of course I gave him what I knew.

Hah!!!! that's all I have to say

lol

I don't wish anything bad on anyone, but maybe some doctors would change their attitude, if they got things themselves ..

Are there any scenarios where oral methylcobalamin could not be absorbed? I'm asking in case my GP decides to give me shots.
