I just read your post on the introductions thread and wanted to welcome you and commend you for the way you have articulated what it is like for you to have to live with RSD, tho I sure am sorry to hear that one so young is afflicted this way
for those that may have missed the post up on the "sticky" thread...here it is http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post598712-220.html

Dear Snowboarder,
Where are you from? What docs have you seen? There are some parents on this board that write about helping their kids - one takes her daughter to Dr. Kirkpatrick in Tampa for ketamine and it has helped her so much. The young seem to get better the fastest. Don't wait really long to find a good doc if it's at all possible - a lot of people say that if you get treated early on your chances of remission are good. I hope and pray that will find a team of docs that will support you ASAP. Please read around the different posts on this board and try to learn as much as you can. We care and understand. XOXOX Sandy |

Hi Snowboarder.
Welcome, I am a mom of a 16 year old daughter that has RSD, and I read your intro. and I cried, I will tell you why, because that is my daughter and you so eloquently wrote what I have been wanting to tell many teachers and family and friends for a very long time. How old are you? Are you a boy or a girl? There are other teenagers on this board. I know that you are looking for people to talk with that understand what you are going through, there is Ali12 and tmullen that are teenagers. If I can help in any way feel free to PM me. ![]() Sandy |

To answer all questions at once… I am from Michigan. I have seen many local doctors in the beginning of my diagnosis, then moved to doctors in Wisconsin. I went to Pain Diagnostics in Niagara Wisconsin, but they stopped taking my insurance so I had to go to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee Wisconsin. There they told me that I shouldn’t have gotten the Lower Lumbar Sympathetic blocks that I had gotten at Pain Diagnostics because they cause a high rate of paralysis in children. None of my other doctors had mentioned that to me before so I was so confused.
I would like to talk to your daughter if you don’t mind… I currently am 17 years old. I am a boy, and I am sorry you cried. I didn’t mean for people to look at my writing and cry… I wrote it to tell how I feel and I don’t know… I understand what you go thorough with teachers and friends because I have dealt with them myself one too many times. Its also other kids too. I have RSD in my right leg from the knee down and one day this kid threw a football at my leg and the ball hit squarely in the middle of my calf. I dropped to the ground with my crutches and started crying. The next thing I regret… I got up and hit the kid in the side with my crutches because he was laughing and you know cause’ I’m a dude I get really angry really fast. The kid didn’t even get in trouble and yet I did. I got an after school detention. I didn’t understand that at all. |

I have major anger issues so that was kind of just an impulse. I regretted it later on but I dont anymore.
