Oh Lisa,
Did you read the previous posts in Moonstar's threads? Do. I hope you'll see that Moonstar really doesn't need to be scared too much right now; Just my opinion, but it is usually best to leave the lectures to the doctors (they do it so well.. ![]() Moonstar, don't worry - go and see the sleep clinic as planned, I expect they'll ask about all that stuff...and your liver will still be there tomorrow - we've all got ours still, despite the many meds, all the best ![]() Last edited by artist; 01-25-2007 at 11:10 AM. flippin out - are you passing out from pain or just instantly falling asleep?
sorry to stray -but this may tie in with moonstars post. Have you been checked for - had to look it up- http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search Narcolepsy Definition Narcolepsy is a disorder marked by excessive daytime sleepiness, uncontrollable sleep attacks, and cataplexy (a sudden loss of muscle tone, usually lasting up to half an hour). Description Narcolepsy is the second-leading cause of excessive daytime sleepiness (after obstructive sleep apnea). Persistent sleepiness and sleep attacks are the hallmarks of this condition. The sleepiness has been compared to the feeling of trying to stay awake after not sleeping for two or three days. People with narcolepsy fall asleep suddenly—any-where, at any time, even in the middle of a conversation. These sleep attacks can last from a few seconds to more than an hour. Depending on where the sleep attacks occur, they may be mildly inconvenient or even dangerous to the person, particularly if they occur while driving. Some people continue to function outwardly during the sleep episodes, such as continuing a conversation or putting things away. But when they wake up, they have no memory of the event. Sleep researchers have identified several different types of sleep in humans. One type of sleep is called rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, because the person's eyes move rapidly back and forth underneath the closed eyelids. REM sleep is associated with dreaming. Normally, when people fall asleep, they experience 90 minutes of non-REM sleep, which is then followed by a phase of REM sleep. People with narcolepsy, however, enter REM sleep immediately. In addition, REM sleep occurs inappropriately throughout the day in patients with narcolepsy. from- http://www.answers.com/topic/narcolepsy

beautiful peoples....
thank you for all your time and effort on my part!!!! lisa:: don't worry you didn't scare me... more than my life scares me these days.... the meds that i am on might be partly responsible for the sleepiness..but when i first started feeling this way i stopped taking almost all the meds to see if this was the problem and waited (of course) awhile to see if there were any changes...answer,,,just some more pain... i am on the vicodin es for breakthru pain and oxycontin2-3x's a day...the oxy has not been doing it's job so i have had to increase amt of breakthru meds.. before the sleep nonsense started.. i was fine with all my meds..functioned,worked 6hrs a night, took care of my brothers,shopped,cleaned...of course still hurt but was able to handle it or deal with it...now...after falling from the vertigo..i am afraid to shower, drive, can't seem to walk a straight line...have no control over any part of this..can't wake up when i sleep,,not allowed to go to work..depression (if possible)seems to be getting worse..dreams are nightmares that i can't wake up from...can't help my friends who need me so much...and feeliing so guilty when i can't figure out answers for them (as i have in the past) or at least stear them in the right directions..feel like i am failing all and myself...rationally i know i am not responsible but i have not been rational for quite awhile...trying not to lose my sense of humor..it is one of the things that keeps me going...but it isn't funny anymore!!! i am trying so hard in therapy to figure out who the hell i am now(esp. without david) and am coming up BLANK!!! my drs call me a mystery and i feel like a blank..."what a life" i know i am better off than many other people..and my heart hurts for them more than for me...but i am so damaged that i can't help them..this could go on and on...for pgs...so going to kiss terry good-night and try to find a small part of peace somewhere in my brain.... i am very blessed to have found this site and all of you..thank you for giving me support, friendship and a sense of hope for the future.. ![]() how do i get the thanks icon to the bottom of my posts??? |

Hey moonstar
just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and wish there was something I can suggest to help the only thing i can suggest is to try not to take too many things on at once - when you are struggling with RSD you don;t need to take over other peoples stuff as well - there is only so much one person can cope with - you have to put yourself first sometimes - even if it is just until you stabilise and get control (O?) of the sleepiness Take Care love Rxxxxxx

JO55,
I have never had this problem befor my injury. I feel the pain is a major part of this, and my meds. I tend to pass out during the evenings befor I take my next meal of meds so my first dose is wearing off and the pain is high at times so I just sit and do not move because it hurts so bad, funny when I move when I'm in pain it is like I'm Frankinstien I'm stiff. During the day it may be because of meds, but I just cannot keep awake and must fight to stay awake. There are times I'm reading or on computer that it seems like time flew by it is one time than all of a sudden it is a couple hours later, and I just zone in from a haze my eyes are open. Like I said it could be from meds and pain along with lake of sleep we all have. I know I have never had this problem nefor sorry moonstar this is your thread I do not want to take over ![]() flippnout |

Just stumbled upon your post and wanted to let you know that you might want to consider Lyme disease. Blood tests are not reliable indicators and usually diagnosis is based on excluding other possibilities and your symptoms. Similar experience has brought me to reply to you. I suggest you check www.lymenet.org. You can look at the Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines from there and do the symptom checklist. At least it is a starting point. Usually, when all else is exhausted, Lyme disease emerges as the culprit. Taking antibiotics as a clinical trial is a good way to see if on the right track. It is not uncommon for symptoms to flare up before getting better once on the antbx. Hope this helps.
