Does anyone here go camping, and if you do, do you have problems with your RSD during the camp outs?
Is there special things you bring to make life easier? I have made a promise to myself to go camping this summer as much as I can, and have found it aint too bad, but there can be the moments of pain. Like after over doing it hiking, or if I get in the Coooold creek. But all in all it usually is a positive experience, actually resting my brain from the stresses of life with RSD. Here is a link to a picture of the area we are going to camp this weekend.....Look out sasquatches here I come again!! ![]() http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/pi...pictureid=5387

It is nice to here someone went camping with this RSD and had a good time. My husband has been wanting to take the kids camping but we keep putting it off not knowing how the RSD will take it. I do think if we go and double layer inflated air bed would be good so I am not on the ground. Do you get an electrical spot so you can have a fan in the heat or does the heat not bother you much. The meds I am on I have to be careful not to get over heated cause they already make me sweat extra bad. I feel like if I did I would be misrable. Good to here that you are enjoying it and going at it again. Good Luck and enjoy yourself!

Hey Allen,
Long time no see.................. We go camping every summer. At first we had tent trailer we went in & they we had to use tents for a few years. Now we have a camper trailer, which if worse comes to worse, we can always live it. It is a 37 footer & to be honest No matter which way we camped I did ok with my RSD feet. Just as long as I didn't over do it, like you said. And when in tents, I had to take precautions so as my feet didn't get too cold. We are going camping at Sly Park south of Pollock Pines on Jenkinsen Lake this weekend. We are going with all of Jack's kids & my one. With all the grandkids that can come with their parents. Alto my son's boys will be under our rule mostly when he isn't there as he may have to work some of this weekend. It isn't often that all of my husbands kid's can get together like this. Last year we did a big family picnic, but all are going camping this year. Go & have fun.................I sure plan on it. DebbyV |

I bring a camper with me !
Our family joke used to be that my idea of roughing it was staying at the Holiday Inn instead of the Hyatt ![]() Despite that, hubby and I did bring the kids a few times when they were younger, and I stayed in the tent. Now, we hang around with a big group of parrotheads that camp together frequently. After trying that once since my RSD issues started......no more. I just can't bend over to zip/unzip the tent every time I need to get in or out. A few years ago, I invested in a pop up camper so that we could keep doing those group camping trips. Last year, I used some of my SSDI money to upgarde to a hybrid trailer. It makes camping sooooooo much easier on my neck

No sleeping bags on the ground. Boy we use to do that. In Colorado it can be 100 in the mountains in the daytime and ice cycles hanging in the tent the next morning. By the time I figured out a tent didn't work, it was too late for me. My hips were giving me major problems from laying on the cold ground.
The kids have a cabin in the mountains now and it still gets cold in there. Just make sure you are really padded from the ground no matter which way you go and plenty of covers if it gets cold at night. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself. I love camping. Ada |
