I've had this for 2+ years. My bestest friend likes to hit me on the leg when she gets excited. Lucky for me my pain is on the left side, and I have always fought for the left side (no political reference here!). I have always been a total Leftie! (It's very hard being a leftie!) Have made sure that whenever possible that people (including my Husband) have been positioned on the "right" side of me. NO REFERENCE TO POLITICS

MW,
You're just going to need to get Vocal. DON'T TOUCH!
Don't touch me here, or there! I love ya's but, I hurt, please.....RESPECT!

This is a Good time for a little Drama, (that none of us like), but, if there's a crowd around or not, swell up a little bit with tears, rather than holding it in.
Once you do this, word will spread quickly, if you handle it right, (be apologetic etc.) but, Let them know, in no uncertain terms! DO NOT TOUCH!

Also, it seems to me, that you might need a bit more pain control if you're that sensitive.
27+ yrs talking here.
I wish you All the Best!

Pete

Default thanks

Thanks Pete, I am very vocal. Most of the time they touch me before I can say anything. I am in a power wheel chair and it takes a minute to back up.

In terms of pain control. There is not anything I can take.

MW, I'm very proud for you!
Of course you can't back away! Not your job! But, folks do want to show their affection. What can you do? Make a little plan with one or two of your closest friends, (bring them in on it). And, get to tears. (This will spread around, with my knowledge of friends circles). Am I wrong?
So, Only use a friend or two that you can trust to 'Shut Up' about it, and news will spread. Or, you're gonna hafto print out 'Do Not Touch' and put it on your front and back! Haha!
Ridiculous, right?

Otherwise, you can do the Mature thing, and simply explain to everyone, one at a time, that you can't be touched!

I still recommend, that perhaps your pain control is not adequate. If I can help, PM me?

I'm here..... Have been for a while......

Pete, yer pal....

I have that same problem too. Especially when i go to church they love to hug and touch. I had the pastor make a public announcement about my condition letting htem know that i am not beign rude. I have rsd in both hands wrist arms up my neck to shoulderblade. I do have wrist braces and my husband suggest i wear those but im so sensitive to having anything on my wrist. Any suggestions for me?

Default Having buttons made

Pete, some of us have dfferent severity of rsds, I cannot be touched at. I have discussed pain management with my doctor. There are reasons I cannot take pain meds others do. Allergic.

I am looking at different types of buttons I am having made and I will be wearing a sign around my neck to prevent touch.]
