Thank you all for your well wishes.
im confused...heres my news: Well I may have some very good news to share about my health. I saw a new doctor this week who is in my pain management office. She did a nerve test on my arms. Then she did some tests on different parts of my spine. She thinks I may be mis-diagnosed and I might not have RSD! I am trying not to get over excited until we get more facts. She said that she has seen 3 other patients this year that have abdominal swelling and pain and more of my symptoms, That turned out to be caused by herniated disks and pinched nerves. the only hing that i can think of is this: In January 2005 i had emergency gall bladder surgery. right after the surgery i complained about pain and swelling in the lower right area of my abdomen. the gallbladder surgery, i was cut sort of in the top center of my abdomen. i was awake when i got on the operating table, but when i was taken to recovery i was asleep. because o me being very obese, could they have hurt/moved/twisted my spine to get me off he operating table? then 2 years later a plastic surgeon cut me from hip to hip to do a big tummy tuck on me. he thought cutting off the swollen tissue might make me feel better. well it made me 100 times worse! so more damage to my nerves. i dont know..time will tell. So I am going to go have a full spine MRI on October 26th and go forward. If she is right, I can be treated with injections And rebuild my muscles and maybe have a brighter future. in addition to RSD i am very obese which has been very stressful on my body. but being bed ridden has made it impossible to lose weight. im 48 years old, i have been with my hubby for 28 years. he stays home to care for me. the possibilities of the future of my health improving is overwhelming to imagine. we havent been intimate for 6 years since i got sick. we were always very passionate before i got sick. i could ramble for an hour, so i will stop here. i will let you know what happens after i have my follow up drs appointment on nov 7th. im looking forward to a Miracle, i want a miracle for you and your loved ones too! peace and blessings Lori

It is not all that unusual to be misdiagnosed WITH this disorder. There are a number of conditions that have similar symptoms. It is not at all straight forward.
Misdiagnosis can go either way. Sometimes they don't think it is CRPS when it really is, and other times you get diagnosed with everything under the sun when it is CRPS. CRPS is one of the most misdiagnosed conditions......that is because it is one of the most misunderstood conditions of the human body. Even by professionals. Very common to find doctors, therapists, etc. that don't know jack about CRPS. In their defense, it is a very unique, tricky condition. Hoping for the best for you. If anyone checking this forum isn't sure, keep beating the dead horse until you get some answers. We all deserve to know. Multiple opinions folks, multiple opinions. And then get another opinion after that. Last edited by birchlake; 10-22-2011 at 06:28 PM. |

You will be in my prayers. If it is not RSD and is treatable then that is wonderful news. I have been skeptical of docs who say they don't think it is RSD because the ones who have said it to me have no other explanation and that's just unacceptable to me. But if your doctor thinks that there is another explanation then I am so happy for you. Good luck!
