Default ok odd question...but whats odd right?

Ok.. here it is... as of this point nothing has changed in my treatment, and or life style.. the question is .. does RSD also leave parts of you itchy like crazy??
IT STARTED ON MY RIGHT FOOT IN ORIGINAL affected area, and it left a big red blotch.. completely different from pother color changes .. not my belly legs and arms are itchy and there is no other skin change.. like i said .. nothing has changed in life style and or treatment. and this is past 4 days.. I'm racking my brain and I'm just curious if this could possibly be another symptom...

Lets see if I can make sense in my reply. Because we have nerve's that are doing their own thing we can develop what they call puritius. this causes dryness and itchness and can be anywhere.

RSD can cause the itchiness...it is a form of inflammation. This doesn't happen to me often and it never happened in the beginning...but every once in a while in my RSD areas it happens. Hurts like all get out because I felt like I HAD to scratch but scratching a part of my RSD areas is bad news for the pain. Sigh...thank god it only lasts a week or so when it does happen.

But itchiness can be caused by a lot of different things so might be worth checking out. Itchiness caused by RSD doesn't really have much in the way of cure or treatment but if it's caused by something else you may have a way to make it go away.

I found that putting on lotion, regular Jergens Ultra Healing lotion, seemed to help me the most. I used anti-itch stuff (the stuff I use for bug bites and whatever) and that was NO help for me with the itching. Everyone's different. I think if you do a search on here though you will find a few other threads about the itching.

PM09

It might subside in some areas / effects. But I wouldn't hang my hat on it 'going away'...

I do wish you luck, and a bright outlook!

When in doubt, take a bath with Epsom salts, and throw in a few ounces of bleach into the bathwater (something a Dermatologist taught me.) Then use a lotion without fragrance, that's very mild. Make sure you have clean sheets and blankets just in case something has been introduced to the "environment."

I forgot you didn't like the pool, huh? The problem with RSD is you can't really can't assume it's the cause of everything strange thing that happens. As bad as what you're describing, it could also be an allergic reaction to a med as well. Cortizone cream might be worth trying. You probably need to get into your primary and/or a dermatologist asap as well.

I might not be able to wait that long.. I took benadryl this morning with no affect ..hoping it was allergy though Ive only ever been allergic to bee stings and if it was a sting well ..Ild be dead. so still at a loss.. but the areas that are new are sensitive to touch now as well as temperature.. .. sooooo sucks.. any other ideas.. i will try as many as possible...

May I make a suggestion. If contemporary methods are failing. Ask your dr. for a prescription of ATARAX. This is a little anti-itch pill, it works great. You only take it prn. It may make you tired though.
