Bram, I found this and while reading page 5 they talk about irritation of the ICB nerve, perhaps this is what you are feeling?
"Another cause of chest wall discomfort that prevents patients from normal inspiration is irritation of the ICB nerve that often innervates pectoral and intercostal muscles [13]. Involvement of this nerve is most often confused with cardiac pain if it occurs on the left side and gall bladder disease if it is in the right chest wall." I hope this proves helpful and that you are felling better! http://www.rsds.org/pdfsall/Systemic...ns-of-CRPS.pdf |

Just an update...
I went to my daughter's sports evening yesterday with the family and although I was careful I feel very old and stiff and tired today. This morning I can feel that there is a muscle on the left side of my chest that is tight and sore, and it's in the place I first had the pains, so I'm thinking it is indeed a muscular/nerve thing. I'm seeing one of the GPs today (not mine obviously, he was a 3 week wait ![]() Thanks for all the messages ![]() Bram.

This is a little embarrassing and might be unique to me but I got similar chest pains that were so bad they got me up and then I started googling and saw I had a lot of the signs of a heart attack. Eventually I went to the ER and they gave me nitroglycerine which seemed to knock it right out. But there was no heart attack. I've had several of these since one of which was even worse and just waited for them to pass. But recently I discovered a quick "cure"; a tall glass of water.

I love things like that Imahotep! Nice and simple.... Only problem is that when it was going on I couldn't move for the pain, so I'm not sure I could sit up let alone get some water! I'll have to start using my bedside carafe again

Ooo if you were particularly bad and needed hydration there's always that hydration doodah that hangs over your bed/chair and has a long valved tube/straw. Hang on let me find it...
http://www.betterlifehealthcare.com/...hp?prodID=6290 That kind of thing. I'm not saying it will fix the chest pains as I've not had that experience myself but because you mentioned drinking when you're bad. |
