Hi everyone,
I hope you're all having a good day. I just wanted to let anyone who has had multiple distal radius fractures in their wrist and then gotten RSD to check it out in Wikipedia. Just type distal radius fractures Wikipedia to bring it up. Apparently people who have closed reductions on a broken wrist with mulitple fractures in their distal radius have an increasingly higher chance of getting RSD then those who had an open reduction. This happened to me, and if I can get it to not happen to someone else, at least some good can come out of something bad. ![]() And if it did happen to you, you may be able to seek some recourse. Well, that's all for now folks. And dare I say "Let's Go Giants!" |

I did find an article that said placing a plate and screws on the volar (palm side) is more likely to develop RSD than placing it on the dorsal side. Mine is on the volar side. But yeah, I've tried to figure out wrist anatomy to see where the nerves are in relation to my break. Have you had an X ray or CT scan to see if you healed properly? I know it won't show the RSD but it may give you some ammunition? O.K. go Giants as long as they're not playing our Cardinals. ![]() |

I can see that my wrist is crooked without the xray, and my dr never showed me the xrays he took after break. I still may get another xray from another dr just for my own reference, bui it doesn't matter anymore for me anyway. Although I had other drs (hwo were also lawyers) think that the closed reduction may have triggered my RSD, their expert witness said the orthopedic dr still met the "acceptable level of care". And I can't seek another lawyer, because my statute is up. I just wanted to let others know, so that they were aware. I don't want this to happen to someone else if I can help it.
The statute is two years in NJ. I waited too long to seek counsel in the first place, but was dealing with so much other stuff with my rsd, that I was too overwhelmed to do it sooner. Anyway, I hope you'll be okay and I'm sorry you got rsd too. And the Giants are playing Eagles today, (and loosing again), so not to worry. The Cardinals are safe! Take care and thanks for your advice. |

I want to yell back "My wrist is mangled, and I have a claw hand now! I don't think that's acceptable!" the Dr. promised me I would be back at work keyboarding as usual within 3 weeks if he did the surgery. |
