You poor thing Kim. I am so sorry that you are struggling so much with your arm and hand lately. Good for you that you are trying to keep a sense of humor. Lord knows sometimes that is all that's left.

Hi KimA,

I'm so sorry - oh the burn is just awful. Do you have Lidoderm Patches that you could place on your forearm where the nerve dermatome is closest to the skin? That may help alleviate the burn. Another thing that helps me at times when my legs are burning at there peak is to apply either a soft heating blanket or warm damp cloth - it seems rather backwards to add heat but our nerves are firing backwards so this warmth can feel different to our brain/pain receptors when applied. I hope the burn resides some soon. Distraction, Guided Imagery, Mindful meditation? I'm sure you've tried those already but thought I would throw it out there just in case.

My hand is cool,
My hand feels normal,
My hand is beautiful,
My fingers feel cool,
My fingers are bending and moving properly,
I feel my hand is floating in a warm bucket of gel,
My arm is light and feeling warm..

Deep controlled breathing, with your eyes closed picture a place you love, now another with you in the picture and yet another with you enjoying something on your "bucket list" (let your imagination roll..) relax, thinking of only images that make you smile.

Now draw in controlled breath through your nostrils and think of the scent of a lemon or a spice like (cinnamon) .. think that splash of lemon when cutting into the zest - oh that fragrant pleasant smell. Mmmm cinnamon the scent that reminds me of my childhood.. Go ahead.. think of a few more.

Pause.. now just for a second think about your hand - don't dwell just for an instant think how does it feel?

Thanks Jesika. Don't worry, I really struggle to keep up too. I often read posts on my phone on my way to/from work but I can't reply on my phone because it is just so difficult for me to type much on the touchscreen. So I try to remember to reply when I get home but often forget.

My hand has gone back to its normal state, which of course isn't really normal. But the palm isn't on fire anymore. Yay!
