Hi Joan, I've tried the inserts both inside and outside my brace. I've also tried having 1 inside and 1 outside at the same time. What I've found works best for me is one on the inside of the sneaker. It does take time however to break in a new pair of sneakers. When I get new ones I wear the insert on both the inside of the brace and the sneaker. Once I get used to the new sneaker I can remove the one in t Hohe brace.Hope this can work for you as well...please let me know...Jeannie

I wear Sketchers sneakers, just like lisalovesbilly. I also have two pairs of cowboy boots which I bought in Mexico while living there. Getting the boots ON is rather painful, but once on, they hurt less than any other shoe I've worn.
But for me, what type of shoes I wear isn't the real issue... it's length of time. The longer I have them on, the worse it gets. The edges of my heels bear the brunt of it... after getting home from something as simple as a trip to the grocery store, I can barely walk or stand the next 24 hours.

Hi Joan,
I have always had a problem with shoes and the brace. I would have to take the sneakers my daughters wore out and wear them. But I took a chance the other day and bought a pair of Dr. Scholls with the gel inserts already in them. I couldn't belive that I kept the shoe on. Most of the time I have to get the shoe off in a matter of seconds, too much pain. Good Luck! Sue K. |

hi,
i'm having a shoe off day today ... wow the heat came in and my feet swelled but good. i have been on the couch most of the day though since i tend to trip and fall so easily with the brace off. i did have my husband get me the gel insoles and i tried them both in the sneaker and then in the brace. the problem was, even though i buy size wide shoes to accommodate the brace, it was still too tight with the added pad and then the swelling ... i will try again tomorrow when the weather is cooler. i liked the idea of wearing someone elses worn in shoes! that sounded comfortable. has anyone who uses a brace found any other shoe than a sneaker that works? something cooler? thanks for all the suggestions. i used to live in dr schols wooded sandals before rsd ... hate it! i wear sandals for dress up but my feet swell badly just from the straps and they are not even tight ... joan

All the cute shoes in my closet that I can no longer wear
![]() A few years back I sold shoes for a living....little did I know the experience would prepare me for RSD feet. I had alot of customers with neuropathy so learned about comfortable shoes and what brands the doctors were recommending. I wear Ecco the design of the shoe is wide and the sole has great shock absorbancy. They are pricey but last forever. When I wear a sneaker it's New Balance. Another thing I do that helps is to switch my shoes regularly, not wear the same pair everyday. Hope you find something that will work for you, it seems like since the spread to my feet my pain tolerance is zippo....when your feet hurt your whole body hurts. Jeanne |

crocs are ok, but oww! the bottoms have a bumpy surface and they hurt your crps feet if u have sensitivity. the off brands are usually better.
i second what buckwheat says-- clarks clogs are very nice, and worth the price. i am miss cheap too, but i think u will be pleased with them. |

I Cannot Do Clogs Because No Back On Them ... And With The Brace And The Nerve Palsy, I Would Slip Right Out. I Would Love To.
I Am Going To Look At The Ecco. Thank You. Right Now I Took The Regular Insoles Out Of My Sneakers And Am Using The Gel Soles In The Brace And It Feels Pretty Good. Anything For Relief At This Point. It Even Hurts When I Get In The Shower Because Of The Tub Mat So I Could Never Wear The Crocs. And Yes, When The Feet Hurt The Body Seems To Stop .... I Lose All Sense Of Purpose When I Cannot Even Stand Up. Thanks To All Who Gave Their Help Here. Remember When We Picked Our Shoes To Match Our Outfits??? I Gave Away All My Shoes Years Ago. It Was A Sad Day. Joan
