Default Bad pain in my side

Hi. I am having a really bad cramping pain in my left side under my rib that shoots down to just above my hip bone. I've had pain on this side since my gallbladder was taken out a few months ago. It was sore to the touch and I'm calling tomorrow for endoscopy. I was wondering if anyone had an idea what is going on. Tonight I have really sharp pains there now and I'm considering waking my husband up to take me to the hospital. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS - The pain is radiating towards the back of my stomach behind my right rib cage. Thanks again. I see endometriosis or appendicitis as possible causes when I googled. I don't know. Take care.

I am sorry you are in pain I will pray that it goes away. As far as being able to help with what it might be or how to help you find relief I am sorry I am of absolutely no help. I do hope that you feel better soon.

That sounds weird. I'm not sure, your appendix I thought is on your right? I'm not sure because I still have mine. (for now lol) I do know that that is where the last part of your colon is (it forms an upside down U). Maybe you have some sort of intestinal upset? I imagine the pain must be pretty bad if you're considering the ER. I don't really have any decent ideas (I have celiac, every time someone has pain in their guts I'm like OMG THEY SHOULD GET TESTED!!! which isn't exactly helpful) but I hope you feel better soon.

I guess if the pain started when they poked around in there you should definitely get checked out by someone, even if it's just a regular doctor or the doc who took your gallbladder. I never had complications from having mine out (thankfully) and am quite happy to be rid of the thing. It was nothing but trouble.

Thanks for caring Phaedra. You have been a great help just by being there to listen to me vent. I freak out easily and right now I'm freakin out. I googled pain on left side and there are a million things that could be the reason. I was supposed to get my endocscopy a few weeks ago but my husband's been really sick and couldn't drive me. I hate to wake him up tonight. My rsd hand is starting to burn. That's what happens when I have pain somewhere else. I just took a hot shower and an putting a heating pad on my side and took my pain pills. Seinfeld is on so I'm going to watch him and have a cup of tea. No chocolate in my emergency flare kit tonight. I can't eat. Feel too nauseas. It hurts sooo much to move. I don't want to go to ER. I hate waiting so long for a dr. I see broken blood vessels on my side that hurts. Don't know if it's related. Sorry I'm whining so much. I'm just not sure what's going on. I'm so tired of this. I want to be healthy again. I'm sick of being sick all the time. Thanks for listening to me vent. Hope you have a good night.

Hi Renee! Are you feeling any better? I sure hope so!! I went to the dr a couple of weeks ago because I was having these horrible pain attacks (as I call them) in my left side. It was in my lower rib cage area and did hurt to touch just below my breast. These attacks were awful, I mean they took me down and in tears quickly. My dr told me that it was inflammation in the ribcage...not costochondritis, but similar. She told me to take my pain meds and try my lidoderm patches and heat, if they didn't help to try voltaren gel. The patches did help calm things down. But, I still get pains there and am getting pains on the right side too, so I don't know if it is really inflammation or RSD related. I had my gallbladder out in 2002 and my appendix in 2008. I would think that if your pain was related to your appendix that it would be lower and located more on the right (although it can start on the lower left then move over). And your gallbladder is gone, so that shouldn't be hurting any longer...but as you know, that is on your right side. You know, I had a lot of pain after my gallbladder was removed and healed up. Rheumatologist told me that pain was costochondritis in the lower tip of my right ribcage.

I sure hope you can get some answers and some relief soon!!

Thanks Phaedra, Adelaide and Nanc, I really appreciate you advice. I am calling my dr today, I actually have a list of drs to call today, but my endoscopy dr is one of them. I put a heating pad on last night but didn't sleep well. It helped a little but not alot. I didn't go to ER because I didn't want to wake my husband up and I didn't want to go sit in the hospital for hours because the pain did subside a bit. I will call my gastro dr today. I still have my appendixs but if that's on right side then I don't think it's that either. This pain radiates from my left side rib cage to my back left at the bottom of the rib cage. I have minute amount of endometriosis still in my stomach that my endo dr said to leave for now because it was so minute and to see him in two months. I told him I had pain am not sure if it's because of endo, rsd or something else. It's just so overwhelming. When does all this pain go away? I'm so sick of it. And I'm so tired. Anyway, thanks again for caring. I'm glad I have you all as friends. Sincerely, Renee.

Renee ,sorry your dealing with a new issue,in my case after the gallbladder removal I'm ok,still experience pain in all my incisions and also in the incision of my battery scs unit which is in my right mid abdomen,so have no idea if I have extra pain I will not be able to make a difference ,but my dr recommended me to use my lidoderm patches also in that area and they work,I don't take stronger meds so the stomach is been calm with my meds combo and the patches and flector patches as well,it helps, but my buttocks and left leg still a big pain,no changes on that, hope soon you get better, call your dr or if necessary you might need to go to ER if the pain increased, hope it doesn't ,and hope you get well soon, blessings from Jesika .
