Heart Dental issues with RSD

Rivkah,
I am scared to go to the dentist due to the state of my teeth. 2 of my teeth are chipped, one of which is really bad and painful. I have 3 teeth that are wobbly. I only started having problems with my teeth after I was diagnosed with RSD, I do believe that the RSD/Medications cause teeth problems. I think I also suffer from gum disease but I am not sure.

I found this on 'google' it is an interesting article and maybe you could ask your dentist if he could do the following:
My dentist follows a procedure to prevent flare ups of CRPS. He uses cream to deaden the area before injecting. Then uses a non adrenaline local. He also injects local again at the end of the treatment which is kept short. On my last visit he didn't do this as it was just a check up. Unfortunately I had a facial flare up as a result of handling and cleaning. In future , even for check ups we'll be following the procedure we know works to prevent a problem.

This is also an interesting website about dental issues with RSD/CRPS:
http://www.rsds.org/3/treatment/rsd_dentistry_brown.htm

Take care
Love
Alison

Smile Thanks Ali!

Dear Ali,
You are a GEM! I see so much of myself in you, when I was younger there was no internet, so I remember being in UCLA Medical Center for two years, going home 2 times during that period. I did not see my parents very often as they had a farm to run, my siblings and a 200 mile drive. Books became my best friends and I read everything I could get my hands on, yes, the Doctors finally allowed me access to the medical library...so interesting stuff there!
Enough about me....I just see a glow about you, a caring, concerned and gracious young woman, we should all be such. Your attitude will carry you far, trust me on this on.
As my father use to say: "Riv, we are all a little bit broken, some of it you see, and some of it you don't. With you little bit, it is obvious, but remember, no one is without something." So, not only was he a farmer of the land, he was a farmer of lessons.

Be well Ali and keep shining for us all,
Riv

Rivkah,
Many thanks for your kind words ((hugs))
I am very similar to you, I love reading and learning about new things. I am always reading my moms books - even though they are for adults lol. I want to be a vet when I grow up, but this seems impossible at the moment due to my RSD, I love animals and I own a few myself.
Thanks
Love
Alison

Teeth To Ali....Vet

Dear Ali,
I grew up on a farm, so being around animals was part of life. What sort of a vet would you like to be? I always thought working with livestock was where I would end up and now, here I am in New York.

What are you reading at the moment? Don't you love the smell of books? The initial crack of the spine when you open a new one? Currently I am reading "The Other Side of the Story" it is about giving people the benefit of the doubt.

What sort of things are you able to do? Do you get out much? How about friends and doing "girl things"? Perhaps I should have written to you in private, I am new, so forgive me.

Looking forward to your reply,
Riv

Oh my gosh, I just read your profile....I am giggling, I use to have a couple of chinchilla's, I thought they were both male....on the 4th of July, I awoke to a new arrival, he was the cutest thing! Guess I found out that Gus was female! They are such great pets, so playful and full of life.

Heart

Riv,
Many thanks for your replies.
I found the story funny about your chinchillas, I just have 1 so I wont wake up with babies, she is a Black velvet called Tabatha. I got her from a rescue centre, I also own a springer spaniel puppy called Jack (we had to have our 13 year old springer spaniel put to sleep a couple of months ago), a pair of hamsters that live together called Dolce and Gabana, 1 hamster that lives on its own called Mishka (called her that because she's a russian dwarf), and finally a parrot called Sparky, I have a lot of animals as you can probably guess.
I would like to be a Veterinary nurse working with all sorts of animals. I like cows, goats, sheeps, horses etc so maybe I would want to work with them. What sort of animals did you own on the farm? I am always watching animal programmes, my best is animal cops but I find it sad too

I am currently reading a teenagers book by Jacqueline Wilson called Kiss, it is really good. I also like books by Patricia Cornwell. I am reading a lot more books due to not being able to do much

I don't go out a lot due to my pain levels (wind, rain etc causes me to have really bad pain), I can't go to school due to the pain either. I have balance problems so I am in a wheelchair.
Some of my friends come up to my house, they are very understanding. Sometimes I go to McDonalds with my friends, they are very helpful and push me around in my wheelchair - I am very grateful for that.

Take care and thank you
All my love
Alison

Default Sorry I have not been around

Hi Ali,
Sorry I have not been around much, I have been stuck in bed...yuck. I think your house sounds like a small zoo! Keep up the reading, it is good for the soul and the brain! I am reading a book entitled "From the Otherside", it is about giving people the benefit of the doubt and how it affects our inner being. I have not done much "pleasure" reading and I guess a trip to the library would be welcome, thankfully our library has an online system so that helps some.
You take care of yourself!
Rivkah

Hi Rivkah,
I sure hope you are feeling better now. RSD IS tough.
I love reading but I find it hard to concentrate these days due to the pain I am in, but I am still trying my best to read. I am currently off school and feel that I am missing out on a lot of my education. I miss my friends a LOT, and I even miss my teachers and tutors!

Your not kidding my house is a small zoo, lol. I am having fun with my new puppy, Jack, but it is really annoying when he stands on my leg that is affected by RSD
Take care
All my love
Alison

Default dentistrt

Hi Rivkah
You may want to check out RSDHope.org They have an article or 2 about dentistry and RSD- You should be careful with the root canals because it can cause the RSD to spread into your mouth- Totally stinks! Hope this is helpful and make sure u use a dentist who knows RSD

Unhappy Hello deb

Rivkah,

Deb you just remind me of something that happened to me... I had to have a root canal on the bottom let side and that is what did cause it to speard in my mouth... just recently moving to the right... You should be very very very careful...

Good luck to you!

Much love and hugs to all J!
