I am wondering if there is anything that helps with memory loss or just helping to remember what a person says from one minute to the next.
I sometimes wonder if I ever had a memory, if I did I wonder if it was better then what I have now. I did good in school and was always proud of the things I could do but now I get really frustrated with not being able to add, spell, remember, or understand what I read at times. I had a stroke back in 99 and am wondering if that might have done a lot to my mind. I know all of the medical problems I've went through might have done it to just giving up at times and not caring. Now that I can read books and sit still more to go over things I just can't understand why I can't keep some of it in my mind. Just wondering if others find there memory as bad as mine. Ada |

Hey.
Okay, this might sound random, but Sudoku has helped my memory a bit as well as my concentration. I try listening to music to help test my concentration. Just dont overdo the music. Turn the radiodown so it is playing soft then work towards the preffered volume. Hope this helps ![]() nikki |

I've had memory problems as well.
More frustrating is that I've mostly lost the ability to do complicated equations and physics in my head. I can't do most of it at all any more. I do find my command of the language has improved slightly and I write a lot better. The doctor told me a lot of the memory problems are related to the drugs and would probably clear up if I can get off of them. I use 120 mg of ghinko biloba daily because it helps with pain but this is supposed to help memory. I don't think it does for me. Long term memory is worst for me but the 10 sec memory is affected too. There have been numerous changes mentally. |

I don't think my memory loss is due to meds. I am only on methadone, very low dosage, and prevacid. My pain level is down so I know it's not that.
I have a dictionary setting here now by my computer. I hate the fact that I can't spell words right anymore. I get pretty mad at that red line that shows it's spelled wrong at times. I would rather not know. LOL As far as math, I use to be pretty good at it but not anymore. I try to help the boys with their homework and can't remember my fractions. My long term memory is the worst. Before I say anything I think about it so I won't get it wrong at times. I don't want people to think I'm lying to them. I get dates mixed up. I can't never remember what the date is. Someone can tell me one minute and I'm asking again the next. Nikki, What is Sudoku? I don't remember if I've heard it mentioned on here before. I like music but after awhile it starts getting on my nerves. I can't handle noises for too long nor loud noises. I wish I could focus more on things then what I do. I can't sit still for long and it takes me forever to read a book due to not setting still to read it nor getting back to it like I should. Thanks girls, Ada |

Sudoku is a 9 by 9 box. it is divided into 9 groups of 3x3 boxes. you want to fill in numbers 1-9 and they can only repeat once in each column, row, and 3x3 box. (sorry if thats cofusing)
Yeah, loud music bothers me too. i keep my radio down low. At first w/ sudoku, it would take a few days to complete one puzzle bc of concentration. now, i can pretty much finish one in a day. |

I have this problems too. Spelling, short term memory is worst, Loss of words when I speak, or I say another word than I ment too? Make a good laugh with family who knows, but strangers? embarrasing.
Med's? Maybe, but it started before I got any med's at all. So maybe the stress of pain get too us? i don't know. Music, get's to me too, even gives me myoclonus(unvoluntary movement) Tiril |
