Thank you Sandy for letting us all know. I'll be anxious to get it and read it. The more exposure the better. Take care, loretta

Thanks for posting this!

I'm not sure if we can get The Peoples Magazine over here in the UK but I will get my mum to look for it and see if we can find it!

It's so great that someone is finally doing some research into RSD and getting the word out there! Hopefully it will make others more aware of what we all go through on a daily basis!

I hope things are going well for your daughter with the Ketamine infusions and that she gets the relief she needs and deserves - i'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers and please keep us posted when you can!!

Alison.

hi Ali,

My daughter did well with the infusions. She finished today and she has pain relief. She is very tired, but she is very happy. Thank you for praying.
The article is in the Aug. 10th People Magazine, it is about the ketamine coma's in Mexico and a small blurp on infusions. I have a copy of the magazine from the doctors office. If you can't get a copy in the UK, I will be happy to send you one via mail. Or I can scan the article and email it to you. Let me know if you need me to do this for you. I will keep you updated on Lindsay's recovery.
You are also in my prayers.
Sandy

Heart

Thank you Sandy, I would really appreciate it if you could send me a copy via email when the magazine comes out - i'll PM you my email address ! I did a quick look on the internet to see if People Magazine was available over here and it didn't come up with any results so i'm guessing it isn't.

I'm SO glad to hear that your daughter has got some pain relief from the infusions - that is great and I really hope she gets even more pain relief as time goes on! I wish they did Ketamine infusions over here but they don't. I take oral Ketamine when i'm in a really bad pain flare and it reduces my pain levels a bit though it isn't a lot. My doctor did a Ketamine epidural last year and it cut my pain levels in half for 6 hours but he isn't willing to do it again for some reason!!

Please pass on my love to your daughter and give her a hug from me!

Thanks again,
Alison

Hi guys,

I just recieved this article through the RSDSA email service. It is the article about Ketamine coma treatment for RSD that is in the Peoples Magazine.

Hope you all find it useful - I thought it was pretty interesting and it will hopefully help many others !!

Hi Alison,

I am going to scan the article for you to see the pictures and the full article. I see that you received the RSD email. Would you still like the full article emailed to you?

On another note, my daughter finished the 3 day 4 hour infusions yesterday with Dr. Kirkpatrick and went for the post infusion visit today. Her pain thresh holds have improved immensly. She slept for 8-10 hours each night this week, something she hasn't done for years, she is laughing and it is unbelievable. I will say that the infusions were rough. She went into the dis-associative state of mind and as a mom it was scary. She panicked several times, did not have hallusionation, they say children normally don't.

I know that I have no idea what kind of pain all of you are going through, but I watch my daughter everyday in this pain. I would do anything to help her take this pain away. I would take it from her.

I have seen first hand these infusions work. My daughter is 16 years old and has been dealing with this pain since she was 11, I know what the doctors think, and I know what they say. I know how frustrating it can be to have someone tell your pain is not real.

I live in Tampa, Florida. So if you need any information on the RSD Institute just PM me and I will get it for you.

My prayers are with all of you...

Sandy

Hello Sandy,
I'm glad your daughter responded well to the infusions. I did them in 2007 and I need higher doses so the coma was offered to me in July of 2008.
I have turned it down for now. I am not comfortable with what Dr. Schwartzman from Drexel shared with me about the possible outcome. I have RSD full body with organ involment and he said there was a 50/50 chance it would or wouldn't help me. Due to it being full body he wasn't very hopeful it would help (I respect him for being honest). However, we all respond differently to treatments (that always gets thrown in)
I hope your daugher continues to improve.
Take care,
Sherrie
