Hi Everyone
I am new to this group. I've had CRPS since 2001. Just last year, I had a scs implanted and I'm loving it! In 2005, I started a support group and have been amazed at how many people have CRPS.

Just wondering if your SCS is doing better? I recall a while back you mentioned posssibly having it removed .

Hopefully, it is improving your pain. That would be great !!!

How wonderful that you started a support group! When I was getting my implant a few yrs ago, I couldn't hardly find ANY online 'real people' talk. It's so nice to be able to come here and connect with so many people around the world.

Just wondering how long it took to heal after the SCS implant?

took a couple weeks to check wound for healing and being allowed to shower without restriction, same time I was allowed to program my SCS for function. Some others on here are programmed by the company rep in surgery or shortly thereafter,

took a few weeks to get the hang of the SCS so as to KNOW it was managing my nerve pain.... then I began a doc managed regimen of weaning off of the pain meds,

then the weeks of physical therapy and such so there were a good few months all told in my personal situation.

Even so, with implant in July, and since I had been out of work due to the seriousness of my car wreck induced trauma, it was a bit longer to secure employment and get going. You know what????? I did!!!!! Resumed my career in all respects, and that was worth a LOT!

With regards to healing time, I found that the incisions themselves were doing pretty good around two weeks, and by three weeks were a non-issue for me.

However, what has taken longer has been the "pocket" where the battery pack is implanted. My surgery was five weeks ago, and my pocket is still slightly tender when I lay down on my back. It was very sore for the first three weeks, and then I could tell that it was gradually getting better. I can't tell you how long until it, too, is a non-issue, because I'm not there yet! However, I'm crossing my fingers that it will continue to progress in the direction that it is going now, and that soon it won't even be tender.

But, that has just been my experience!

Hi Froggy

My surgery sites both in my right butt for the battery and the back for the lead have healed. I follow BLaST as much as I can (I put my arms above my head in my sleep) from Mark56 and I had virtually no surgery site pain at all. Occasionally if I accidentally lean back I can feel a sharp stab sensation in my back which I assume is the lead. The battery is a hard lump in my butt but causes no pain at all. My PM flushed both incision sites with pain relieving something and it's obviously worked. I have other pain but that's due to other problems and I'm confident once those issues are addressed I will be able to get the most out of my implant. Glad I had it done.

That's good to know that you don't even feel your battery implant anymore, and very encouraging for me!

Although mine is better, I'm still afraid I'm going to back into a cabinet, or worse yet, that someone is going to bump me in the store, thereby causing me no end of embarrassment when I grab my "hip" and yelp!

I am also new here. I was diagnosed with CRPS in my foot about a year ago. I have had 5 sympathetic nerve blocks since April of last year. They lasted until December. Now I am getting ready to try the scs myself. All of the posts here are of great help.
