Wiz, sounds like a cool deal!

Back from eye doc with my script for steroid eye drops to see if that helps. The pressure hasn't changed since my last visit, so we're thankful that it's not part of the problem. Have become highly photosensitive in right eye (grrr), so see him after labour day to see if the drops helped. He's not ready to jump the gun and say it's ON or anything until we tried this out.

To top off my day, one of the juried competitions didn't take my stuff. So I'm drowning my sorrow in a Mocha Shake right now.

to everyone.

Wiz, I am so happy for you!

Jenn, sorry about the competition. I hope the drops help you!

Well, I buckled and hired the landscaper. He called back and took off some money, guess he needs the work as much as I need it done. We worked out a deal for less money and we're all happy. I can afford to pay some cash and some on the cc so it should work out and it saves me from having to do it all.

This is what he's doing and it's a big job. Take out all the river rock around the house and back yard and replace with mulch. Raise all brick border up around the house and back shed (it sunk in over the years). There are lots of brick, it's a HUGE job. Plant 8 shrubs and remove two berry plants that are out of control. He can do this in 1-2 days where it would take me and my son at least the whole summer.

No one wants my rock dangit. Any takers in the area? It's free and if you can get it out of here by this weekend it's yours. We both gain, you get free rock, I get money off labor.

I could just bawl. I knew the school I was thinking of enrolling in was going to roll out its new course outline and fees soon. I'm not stupid. I knew that meant a price hike... but $1,500 more! I couldn't afford the tuition before and now they want $1,500 more!!! And now they say the course can be completed in 9 months instead of 12-14. More money, less time??? I have an old catalog and just ordered the new one. I want to be able to curl up on some comfy furniture and try to sort this out. That ain't happen' at the computer. I feel like someone just slammed a door in my face after punching me in the gut.

sorry about the tuition hike, Weave .. any possibility on getting financial aid of some sort?

Sandy - wish I was closer .. I could use the rock and build a fountain .. hope you find some takers!!

Jenn - I get that too 'photosensitive' .. just never knew what to call it .. had this before the ms was dx'd ... now, it makes sense ... I found some cool shades at WM for $20 that go over my glasses ... and does that ever help when driving during the day! hope your drops help!!

about your painting ... shake it off ... not with the mocha, tho!! there are other better programs to get involved in, that will appreciate your work!

Wiz, Wiz, Wiz ... sounds like you sure had a busy day of interviewing ... I'm a 2nd shifter myself ... hope it all works out for you ... keep us posted on your garden and growing activity!

UPDATE:

trying to get more quilts done to build an inventory ... staying busy as I wait for the Wisconsin Arts Board decision on the 'direct purchase' approval ... maybe I'll learn about both government approvals at the same time - wouldn't that be a hoot!

looking out at the lake - it's like glass, not one ripple or boat .. pretty cool!

have a great day!!

Good morning all!

Well, I brought my oldest back to college yesterday. It wasnt as traumatic
as last year, but emotional none the less.

Today is the first day of school for the other three. My first grader did
not want to go (he was the one that cried in K for a month) but got
on the bus without tears...keeping my fingers crossed and praying that
he remains without tears.

After they got on the bus I started crying because the bus driver informed
me they needed passes this year. Each pass is $200.00! So I need
two as the older one has a car. Yikes....we never had to pay for the
elementary kids. I received the paperwork when I got home from vacation
and breezed thru it thinking we dont have to pay for the little ones. Our
wonderful bus driver let them on of course but I have to spend the morning
running around fixing this.

Anywho...I hope Wednesday morning finds you all feeling well and happy.

Hugs to all my friends

Sox, sorry to hear about having to pay for the bus transport. Glad the driver was willing to take them this morn.

Vonn, he gave me the drops because he thinks there was a possibility of inflammation in the eye after doing his tests and finding a change in one. (he pulled out the special tester for me again, lol! This is only the second time I've had to go through it and he saw something this time) My right eye has been more bloodshot than the other, despite the regular eye drops for the dry eye issues I've been doing. That coupled with the sensitivity and pain made him go "hmmm".

Weave, sorry to hear this.

Sandy, that is a steal! Glad you found someone who could do the landscaping for ya!

Everyone,

~~~~~~~~
Despite the rejection, got some CD's to get out to other places with examples of my work. Can't slow me down for long, lol! Wanted to share one that will be going, cuz I love it! (ok, maybe the decline was a good thing, keeps the ego from getting too big. ) It's called "Admist the Storm"
Morning all! Well, we spoke to the landscaper again and he's willing to come down more money if we can get the rock on the driveway! Guess what I am doing between now and Tuesday? haha Hopefully we can get Nik out here to help this weekend if he isn't too busy at college.
to everyone.
Sox, that is insane to charge like that! I never knew school buses could charge so much but then again our taxes and fees are so high around here that it doesn't surprise me. I remember paying close to $500 per son for highschool fees. I hope it works out for you.
Thanks for all the school shock hugs. To those who mentioned tuition aid, my ability to pay is very, very limited. I was going to give First National Bank of Parents a try first. They are on a fixed incomes and this economy isn't helping them. If I have to pay for it myself the door will close on me going there. I have managed to create quite the stir on the school's forum. Lots of us fear the excellent reputation they have will quickly vanish.
Lunch is calling and then it is time to shop for certain book. Maybe I will hold off on that since it is sorta school related. I won't need it if I don't enroll in any online schools.
sigh...
Stopping in real quick on my "break." LOL No work has come in yet this morning but I know it is on its way - about 30 more reports.
I started cleaning this morning and am now just sitting down. All I have gotten done so far was wipe the counters, cabinets, stove, and refrig. in the kitchen and then washed the floor. I'm beat. LOL The sad thing is that as I was vacuuming using the bare floor tool I noticed all this cat hair stuck on it. Mind you I am allergic to cats. For several months now I notice that when I am at DBF's I feel so much better. This morning I had a duh moment as well as a sad one. I realized what, more than likely, I am really allergic to in this house. Not sure what I am going to do. It is DD19s cat, the stray that she brought home and then moved out. Long story short, I really need to talk to her.
Weave - Sent you a PM with a link. Hope the info is helpful to you. AND, I never went to school for this and am not certified and yet am doing well at it. There is plenty of work if only I could sit for longer periods of time. Now, my nursing schooling helped tremendously with the medical terminology.
Sox - Hang in there. You will adjust again to this new routine. As for the $200, I knew that this would start happening. Many parents work and drop their kids off early. When I see the school buses here, not many children are on it. The buses are expensive to maintain as well as the gas. I knew it would be just a matter of time. I am not sure what they do here now. I would guess that there is some sort of assistance with paying the $200. It would not be right if a family just could not afford that and therefore, not be able to send their kid to school. (Which of course Child Protective Services would be at the house charging the parents with fees and such for not being able to send their kids to school. Vicious cycle.)
Jenn - I think it great that you are out there submitting your work. If one turns you down there will always be another that accepts your work. Hang in there!
Vonn - You busy bee! That is a great idea to stock up. Now is the time to start selling some of your quilts as the weather is getting cooler in some parts of the country. Wishing you luck!
Wiz - Yahoooo! So far so good! I am so happy for you and still pray that it all works out.
Hi everyone else.
Hope you all have a great day! My vacuum is calling me and if I put it off too much longer it will have to stay exactly where it is at - the dining area.
