Mornin'! Wow, I went back to sleep and slept until almost 11 AM! All this rainy weather we're having is causing the spasticity in my legs to go haywire! I had the worst spasms in my lower right leg last night. Woke me up once. Time for Baclofen.

The county fair is here today through next week....and of course rain is forecast every single day. I really hope they're able to stay open. I didn't go last year but I was hoping to get to go this year. It's only about five miles away from where I live.

I got a recall letter for my car so I have to take it in to be repaired tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to look at the new Hyundai's while I'm there. They have a 200,000 mile / 20 year warranty that I'd love to be under. If they can keep my payment the same as it is now I might consider changing.

Well, it's almost lunch time and I haven't had breakfast, showered or dressed! Guess I need to get moving. Everybody have a nice day!

Just finished teaching my class. It is a beautiful morning here in Illinois although it is supposed to get hotter this afternoon. Three faculty members in the Economics department (on the same floor as my department) are out sick, and the Chair of my department just went home after losing his cookies in the restroom. Unfortunately, I was going into our main office at that time and got to hear him. The men's restroom is next door. Now, aren't you glad I needed to share that with all of you?

Tricia, How are your classes?

Kelly, I was reading that you should not just stop taking baclofen. You need to be weaned off it as stopping suddenly can cause hallucinations and other problems. I was thinking that you just take it on a as needed basis.

Vonn, that was good news regarding help with your meds, etc. Hope you get some answers soon regarding your other health issues.

Wiz -- Good luck with the job search! I wish I had enough will power to try a gluten free diet. I love my bread and pasta. Are you going dairy free too? I would have to buy most of my food on line since we do not have much available down here in the sticks.

Hope everyone has a good day. I am going home!

Thanks, Barb. I've taken Baclofen off and on since I've been dx and it hasn't bothered me when I stop taking it. I stopped Neurontin cold turkey, too, after being on a 900 mg daily dose and had no problems with that either. Guess I'm just one of those people who don't get the withdrawl side effects.

Not dairy free Barb, just the gluten so far. I can have corn chips, corn tortillas, brown rice, rice cakes, corn chex and rice chex, cornmeal or rice flour to coat chicken and such, nachos, etc... I miss bread somewhat. The only temptation I had was at Subway with my son the other day. I ordered a veggie salad with cheese and he had a footlong with pepperoni and salami. There are grains available that you can use to make bread in a machine. They have them at our Jewel store in small packages, around $3.50 for 8-16 oz I think.

Kitty,

We've had three Hyundai's now and we love them. I'm on my second Sonata and DH has a Tucson (I think that's his model anyway ).

Last time we bought one it was a ten year powertrain warranty, have they really increased it to 20 years? If so, that's amazing!

I had a Honda but once I was on Disability couldn't afford the payments. Got a Hyundai Sonata and really like it. It's pretty much identical to the Honda both inside and out.

The Hyundai dealership here has advertised a 20 year / 200,000 mile warranty so I planned on looking around when I take my car in for the recall repair (it's the stop lamp switch in case you haven't gotten a letter about it yet). I may have to go down the chain of models to the Elantra - it's one step below the Sonata - but if I can get that warranty it may be worth it. We'll have to see.

well .. here's another update:

still waiting for the state insurance program to approve my ap - and THEN, I have to have more tests done ... and he (GP) won't write a letter of necessity to my lawyer until he gets all the tests ... and my lawyer won't submit an emergency request to bump the 'trial' up until he gets the letters from the doctors ...

I'm stuck in that circle - and I'm doing what I can .. and it seems like no one cares anyways ... I'm having a hard time about everything right now ...

sorry for being gloomy ... I'm wondering if it's all worth it anymore ..

Just wanted to chime in on the Baclofen thing. I believe that you only have to wean off it if you are on at least 20 or 30 mg per day consistently. I know you can take it as needed, it's just once you are on it steadily above that dose that you could have problems.

Keep at 'em Vonn. Be persistent and kill them with kindness. You'll get it all done. I know you can do it.

(((VONN))) - sorry to hear about the circle you're stuck in.

Kelly, Glad you haven't had any issues with baclofen with the on/off thing I too have read about some of the nastier things with that med, and glad you haven't had to deal with that stuff.

Sox, sorry to hear about the pain (((HUGS)))

Everyone,

~~~~
Up early after another rough night. Think the baclofen isn't gonna cut it for this particular issue. Helps with pain, but my tight muscles winding down to relax spasm like crazy! Weird, huh?
Really hope that Rheumy's office calls today. Did research on the name of the guy they assigned. Good and knowledgable rheumy, but have dealt with the medical group he's affiliated with before. So we'll see how it goes.
