Good morning all! Foggy out today...hope it doesn't delay flights for anyone, since O'Hare is a major hub...
I am free of my friend the catheter!! I was able to void to the dr's satisfaction. It's so much easier to walk and sit (now that I don't have something stabbing me). Slept much better, too.
I am resting as you all suggest. I get way too tired way too easily...
DIL came over and cleaned for the holidays for me. My DH says he's not opposed to getting a cleaning person...wahoo!! I suggested it would give me more time and energy to devote to cooking...he absolutely loves my cooking...
Sandy, glad Jim's appt. went well, and that he had a nice nurse stab him...
Sox, sorry to hear about your mom...hope she feels better soon...
Pam, hope DS gets over this latest bout quickly and he's up and running around real soon...
Barb, take care of yourself...:hug:

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!:)

FinLady 11-24-2009 09:13 AM

Pam, sorry to hear that the ds is sick again. :( Prayers going out.

Barb, sorry to hear about the leg. Rest up! :hug::hug:

Sox, hope your mom is ok. :hug::hug:

Sandy, I know MS isn't one of the high priority ones in my area either. Neither is Chrone's (sp?) which is making my friend upset since she is a firm believer of those shots. Glad Jim got his though. Nice of the nurse to do that for you guys.

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

~~~~~~~
Got my puttering mostly done. Breaks and a nap included. Only a couple of little things left to do, but other than that it's rest, rest, rest.
The first wave are my parents with the niece and nephews in tow. Then my brother, his wife, and her mother. Not an unexpected arrangement. They found out last year that the kids travel better this way, and it gives their parents a much needed break. :)
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Just did not feel like traveling this holiday season and I'm glad they could come down here for part of it.
Take care all! :hug::hug:
supermoo 11-24-2009 11:12 AM
I did not sleep so well last night woke at one point feeling awfull sweats and shivering. also have headache and sore arm. Think it must be piggy jab related. Hope you are all on the mend and feeling better. Big huggs Love Jackie. xxxxxxxxxxxx :hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug:
SandyC 11-24-2009 11:53 AM
Morning all! Jim is feeling fine from his shot. No side effects except a little weak but heck, that could be the ms. My plan for the day is to get busy on the blankets. I hope to get a bunch done today so I can get that off my mind.
Have a good day everyone! :hug:
ewizabeth 11-24-2009 12:06 PM
Please say a prayer for my niece Tina. She's 41 years old and has a cancerous growth in her throat. It's metasticized, and they just found it a few days ago. She has no insurance and is on her way to Chicago to see a specialist. She's single with one teenaged daughter. She works about 80 hours a week. She has a very nice boyfriend, thank God. I hope this isn't too serious. She's very beautiful too, I hope they don't have to do anything that will disfigure her face. :(
Kitty 11-24-2009 12:47 PM
Wiz, I commented on your thread in the Sanctuary. I hope she's going to be okay.
I went and picked up the ham and a few groceries for Thursday. The grocery store was packed! I didn't expect it to be. Not sure what I expected but I sure wasn't ready for the crowd! Got my things and left. So glad I don't have to venture back there tomorrow.
My kitchen sink has been backing up with water whenever I run the dishwasher. :rolleyes: My landlord came over yesterday and ran a snake thingy through the pipes but it didn't seem to help. He left some sort of drain treatment that I'm supposed to put in at night. I'll do that tonight (he just dropped the treatment off this morning). I told him I really need to be able to use my dishwasher on Thursday. He said he didn't find a clog so I'm not sure what the problem is. This house is only about 10 years old so I'm thinking the pipes should still be okay.
I'm pooped now.......the crowds and running around this morning did me in. I think I deserve a nap! :cool:
Glad to hear those who were feeling poorly are better now. Those who are still under the weather I hope you feel better real soon.
:grouphug: to everyone! :)
barb02 11-24-2009 01:56 PM
Went to the post office this morning, was fitted for compression knee high, and went to Hallmark and Cracker Barrel. Now I am ready for a nap. Have you all seen the Hallmark commercial for the Night Before Christmas where you can record your voice reading the book? I am such a pushover so I bought one for my niece Anya. This is about the 5th gift I have gotten here. I need to stop.:o Although this one is am early Christmas present so it does not count;). I already sent her "Fancy Nancy's Splendiferous Christmas." She does love Fancy Nancy!
I feel so bad for her. She had her four year check up today -- three shots, plus a tb test, plus a finger prick for blood, and H1N1 flu mist. She is in the 75% for height (last year was 50%) and has a BMI of 50%. I really wish I could see her for the holidays. She told me that she wanted me to come to the Christmas parade with them -- "Just get on an airplane and fly down!" She wrote her letter to Santa and said she wanted to be taken off of the naughty list:D.
tkrik 11-25-2009 08:43 AM
Good morning everyone!
Wiz- I will keep your niece, you, and your family in my prayers.:hug::hug:
Debbie - Glad you here you are free of you catheter "friend" and all went well at the drs.
Sandy - That was so sweet of that nurse to do that for Jim.
TKTC - Your poor DS! I hope he mends quickly this time. Saying a prayer for him.
Fin - It is nice that everyone is able to come to your house for Thanksgiving. I thought of you the other day as I was talking to my sister and asking if one of my other brothers, niece, and nephew were coming to my parents. She told me to remember 1 potato for each person. LOL I guess what mom's teach kids stick with them.:D Enjoy having your family there.
Barb - My mom wears compression stockings due to blood clots. It takes her a while to get them on but they really do help. Well, that and Coumadin.
Jackie - Hope you are feeling better today. :hug::hug:
Kelly - Hope the drain solution worked. Having the dishwasher on Thursday is rather important. Of course, DSs would make good dishwashers too.;)
Vonn - Thinking of you and hoping and praying all goes well today.:hug::hug: Check in when you can.
Sox - How did your mom's appt go?
Hi everyone else. Thinking of you as well.
Yesterday I decided to clean out my closet. My SIL gave me some clothes, well, actually a lot of clothes. I now have pretty girly things to wear.:p No more worrying about leaving the house in an old shirt with holes or stains or paint or etc. So I put it all away and got rid of the old shirts with holes, stains, paint, etc. It's was a good feeling and I am so grateful that she did that. (Of course she did it a couple of weeks ago but I finally cleaned out the junk I don't need/want anymore.)
Today's plans include dusting and vacuuming this morning and hopefully some painting. DD18 comes home this afternoon and I am excited to spend the whole weekend with her. So I am trying to get my chores (a.k.a. cleaning) done before she gets here so I can relax and spend time with her.
FinLady 11-25-2009 09:31 AM
Wiz, praying for your niece. :hug::hug:
~~~~~~

The kids getting here first without the parents wasn't too bad. Yep, they have enough energy to power our neighborhood, but they behaved rather well.

So sitting here enjoying some morning coffee before they descend again. The kids love to swim, so going back to the hotel isn't a disappointment to them.

Got some bread to pick up to pull by hand. Enlisting their help this year. And a couple of pumpkin pies to make. I found the easiest recipe for it and it doesn't come out bad. But then again I cheat, cheat, cheat. But it still comes out of the oven, so it's mostly homemade. :D

one unbaked pie shell (Mine comes from the frozen food section of the store)
1 large can Pumpkin Pie mix (Libby's puts all the spices in for you)
1 can condensed sweetened milk
2 eggs

Mix eggs, pie mix, and milk until smooth. Pour into crust. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, then drop the temp to 350 and bake for another 35.

If I don't see you, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! everyone.

soxmom 11-25-2009 09:54 AM

Im off to make cranberry relish with the first grade(I love being a first
grader!lol) but wanted to leave you all warm wishes for a peaceful
Thanksgiving.:grouphug::grouphug:

barb02 11-25-2009 10:41 AM

Wiz -- Said a prayer for your niece

Soxmom -- Have fun!

Jenn -- Anything that you bake is homemade, right?

Tricia -- Hoping the compression stocking helps. I would like to stay away from another med. I only have to wear a knee high one at this time on one leg. If it doesn't help, then I will then need more tests. Surgery was also mentioned as an option. Have fun with your daughter.

I need to go pick some prescriptions at the drug store and then I plan on relaxing. I also want to start grading some papers so I will have them done by next Tuesday. Notice I said I want to start; I will probably keep putting them off even though I know it would be easier if I just read and graded five per day:o.

Hope you all have a good day tomorrow!

SandyC 11-25-2009 11:44 AM

Morning all. I am about to get Jim up and start cleaning up the house and throw a few loads of laundry in. The boys gf's are descending upon us tonight. I also need to make my side dishes for tomorrow. Then, maybe, just maybe if there is time, I'll start on my faux stain glass piece I am making for my cuz. I have the outline done and need to trace it out with faux lead paint. I got two blankets done last night and one cut. whoohoo!

Have a good day everyone and a blessed Thanksgiving if I don't see you tomorrow. :hug:

Kitty 11-25-2009 11:58 AM

I got all my errands and running around done yesterday. I don't plan on venturing out today or Friday. Anybody here brave the crowds on Black Friday? I have to admit that meeting a few girlfriends for breakfast at 4 AM and then going shopping sounds sorta fun......if I only had the energy and the money! :rolleyes:

I plan on making some cookies today. I probably won't prepare my side dishes until tomorrow since we aren't having supper until 6 PM. We usually have lunch but DS is going to GF's parents for lunch tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. If you're traveling please be careful. I'll be home tomorrow so I'll be in and out here. :grouphug:'s for everyone!

ewizabeth 11-25-2009 11:59 AM

Sox,

I love reading about your activities with the little ones. :) It brings back memories of when I was a room mother. :D I'm so glad you get to have this time with your kids while they're growing up. :hug:

supermoo 11-25-2009 12:07 PM

Hello all. Well have been out got christmas cards and a few bits then back lunch and hairdresser have had a new colour its calld black cherry looks lovely. But as per usual I'm tired now. Big huggs and lots of love Jackie. xxxxxxxxx :hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug:

SandyC 11-25-2009 01:03 PM

Supermoo, I just dyed my hair. I mixed a dark blonde with a light brown and then applied it. It was too dark so I applied a dark blonde over that and now I am Ok. It's still darker than I like but in time it will lighten up. I let the girl next door highlight my hair a month ago and WOW did it turn too blonde! LOL I am naturally a darker brown so I match everywhere! My husband would say the carpet matches the drapes. lol

supermoo 11-25-2009 05:27 PM

Hi ventured out to see friends for a little earler. They were a little surprised she thinks I am bright enough for the top of the cherry triffle :eek: :D Her hubby remarked about matching coller and cuffs He got a sharp slalp off her and my hubby :p Hope your plans are going well and Jim is ok. My hubby is a Jim as well. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL and my your coming year be full of all the very best of things. xxxxxxx:hug::grouphug::grouphug::hug: Love Jackie xxxx

FinLady 11-26-2009 06:55 AM

LOL! The dying of the hair thing reminds me of my brother's first comment when he saw my hair for the first time. He looked at my dad and said, "Your daughter has purple hair." in a tone of resignation. :D Yep, he's the Dean Martin of our group.

But they are the ones that pointed out that I do have a small bit (very small, lol) of my mom's olive complexion, so look very different with dark hair.

Hoping everyone has a safe Thanksgiving!

SandyC 11-26-2009 09:26 AM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am thankful to have all of you. :hug:

Kitty 11-26-2009 09:31 AM

Happy Thanksgiving! Like Sandy, I'm so thankful for all my friends here at NT. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Don't forget to wear your "buffet" pants today! :cool:

barb02 11-26-2009 10:04 AM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Kelly -- I love the term "buffet pants." These days most of my pants are buffet pants:rolleyes:.

SandyC 11-26-2009 10:06 AM

I am not only wearing my buffet pants, I am also wearing my buffet shirt to hide it all! LOL

tkrik 11-26-2009 10:18 AM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day and I thank you all so much for being there for me when I need it. You all are awesome and I only hope I support you all as much as you all support me.:hug::hug:

Kelly - Love the idea of buffet pants. That's funny.

supermoo 11-26-2009 01:43 PM

Hi all I know Ive not been here long but thanks for your friendship. Hope your all having the best time.:hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug: Jackie xxxxxxx

ewizabeth 11-26-2009 02:26 PM

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my wonderful friends!! :hug: I love you all and I hope you're having a nice day too.

DS is roasting the turkey and making the fixings, even a pie! I made my guacamole salsa dip, YUM! I'll make a salad later on and it will be a small dinner, with just the four of us. :)

Our new kitty Daisy, and Rocky our first and favorite baby are getting along much better today. I think he knows he's going to have a wonderful friend and playmate with the frisky kitten. :D

Kitty 11-26-2009 02:51 PM

What a great Thanksgiving gift to give to Rocky......a new playmate. I'm so glad they're getting along.

My two kitties are best buds now but it took Gracie a few days to get her nose back into place after Tigger arrived. Now.....she loves him and he thinks she is his Momma! :)

I just gave them their Thanksgiving dinner. I got them both their own little Fancy Feast Appetizer in Chicken & Tuna. They licked their plates clean!

barb02 11-26-2009 03:26 PM

I just realized that Vonn has not checked in today. She had her liver biopsy and endoscopy yesterday, I think. She has not been on FB either. I sure hope she is doing okay. :hug: Saying a little prayer for Vonn.

ewizabeth 11-26-2009 04:47 PM

Oh my gosh, I thought that was tomorrow! Vonn, I hope it went ok! :hug:

Ok, another kitty update:

Today started with some hissing but gradually Rocky has warmed up to Daisy. :) He had a good morning for one thing, with lots of attention from DH, and I played with him for awhile before Daisy was brought downstairs. Later DS brought her down and he started sniffing at her so that was good. It seems like butt sniffing is a prerequisite for friendship or acceptance. :D

He followed her around and gradually starting relaxing somewhat. Then this afternoon he started playing with her! :yahoo:

He has a large scratching post and she was starting to climb one side of it and he started clawing on the other side. He'd peek around at her and she'd poke at his nose, lol.

Then she was hiding under some coats hanging on the stairway railing and he'd poke at her and she'd poke back out at him. :D He's really strong though and has big paws with large claws so I'm not going to leave them unsupervised for a couple more weeks and she gets a little bigger. Although, her little front paws are like tiny sabers.

She's not afraid to poke him in the nose, or arch her back and bounce sideways toward him. :ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO::ROTFLMAO:

He did give her a couple of clawless whacks that were too hard though so we have to be careful for awhile.

She also sniffed his empty food dish and took a drink of his water and he didn't react!! :eek: I'm amazed and thrilled that they're getting acquainted so fast. He really needed a friend and playmate. He was getting so lonely and bored so often.

Kitty 11-26-2009 08:36 PM

Thanks, Wiz, for giving little Daisy a wonderful home. She sounds like just what Rocky needed. You'll love watching them interact. Whoever thinks animals don't have feelings have never had a pet!

FinLady 11-26-2009 08:47 PM

Vonn, hoping all went ok!

Made it through today, a little tired now tho. But they went back to the hotel early tonight. Hoping I get some rest tonight.

((((HUGS)))) for everyone!!

Kitty 11-26-2009 09:11 PM

We had a really nice time tonight and everyone stuffed themselves. I sent lots of leftovers home with DS and his GF and we still had lots left for us tomorrow. It was so good to have everybody at the same table again.

I hope everyone here had a nice Thanksgiving. Vonn, check in with us girl! I know you were planning on having your usual pizza today. I hope all is okay with you.

I'm going to bed early tonight. We all enjoyed the day. It was a little sad for me to think of all the faces we were missing from our dinner table. :( It was hard to stay sad for long once the two boys started their annual "pot holder toss". Each year they take all the potholders I have and launch them one by one into the ceiling fan in the living room. If they hit just right they're catapulted into the kitchen, the sunroom and some even make it down the hall. It's really funny.....something you kind of have to be there to get the full effect! :rolleyes:

See ya'll tomorrow! :)

JustWeave 11-26-2009 10:33 PM

Well, I think I am caught up on all the news. I banned myself from the internet for a few days due to phone/ internet problems. The phone is fixed, but internet is still wonky.:rolleyes:

Sounds like everyone is enjoying a day of food, family, and friends. We enjoyed our feast. Both kids helped out by making one dish each. :D

Let's see... Anything new... I've been kicking around the idea of teaching some craft classes from my home. DH said he was okay with that as long as our insurance covered it. I called our insurance guy and waited for him to squash my plans. I knew DH wasn't going to pay for a rider and I probably couldn't afford it myself. The guy said to me, yes, you need a rider, can you hold while I figure out the cost... I almost said don't bother. He gave me a number and I just about fainted. I'll be putting out my craft teacher shingle in January.:yahoo:

Hugs and prayers to all. See ya down the road.

ewizabeth 11-26-2009 11:10 PM

Daisy has two setting, OFF and HIGH, lol. :D

TwoKidsTwoCats 11-26-2009 11:56 PM

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving day. Those brave enough to go shopping tomorrow...be careful and have fun!

We had a good day despite DS and DH being sick. I roasted a turkey, made dressing, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole and a blackberry cobbler(served with ice cream). We have lots of leftovers.

I am not going shopping tomorrow. The two things I wanted to get will only save me $20. So not worth the hassle of driving and fighting the crowds. Besides most of the time I find the stuff closer to Christmas at an even better price! I think we may put our tree up and start decorating the house for Christmas.

barb02 11-27-2009 09:10 AM

Good Morning! Had a nice time with friends yesterday, and they gave me leftovers to bring home for another dinner. Vonn posted on fb that she was ok, but her throat was bothering her quite a bit.

I am going to start grading in a few minutes.:eek:

FinLady 11-27-2009 09:46 AM

The day after Thanksgiving surprise - Snow! :eek: Saw some birds outside earlier and may lay down some dried bread we have left over from pulling bread for stuffing.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful day! :grouphug::grouphug:

Why is it so difficult to follow directions? Big sigh!

Vonn07 11-27-2009 11:00 AM

Okay, Barb - Wiz - Jenn ... and everyone - here I am!! :D

my throat is still sore ... wednesday was a LONG day ... I tried to make my escape after they said I could 'go' ... but, they wouldn't let me drive ... so they had to 'deal with me' (heard one of the nurses say this) as I had to wait for a ride ... then, I drove home at 530p - got home at 8p ... then went to ER at 9p ... and home again at 10p ...

finished another surprise - will be sending out more goodies this next week ..

I see the doctor next wednesday about the follow-up for the liver biopsy .. and he's already found out that my bad cholesteral is bad ... and my good cholesteral is also bad ... will learn on wednesday how to resolve this, too.

will be spending thanksgiving tomorrow with my friend that owns the little quilt shop that I made the sign for back in October ... don't think I showed this to you - so here it is:

Well, Barb, if you're referring to a man I don't believe they ever read directions!

Kitty 11-27-2009 12:17 PM

Glad you're okay, Vonn. Why'd you have to go to the ER? Is everything alright now?

I posted my update on the thread about my neighbors.....http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post594240-32.html. Sad news. :(
