Hi Everybody! :grouphug:
My kitty cat drama update: On Saturday morning I was really worried about Rocky attacking Daisy so I called the vet's office and got the emergency vet in the neighboring county. (He weighs ten lbs. and she weighs one, soaking wet, lol.) She called me back and gave me lots of good advice so they've had only "supervised playtimes" since then. She said that if he tackles her and starts to bite, he needs to be removed immediately and it's ok to yell or scold him so he knows that it's wrong. She's getting scolded if she goes after his tail/food dishes/tummy or tail, too. They're doing much better and they like to play "cat and mouse" a lot. :D She's the mouse of course. She goes from one hiding spot to the next and bounces around the house like a monkey. It's just so adorable I can hardly stand it. :D She isn't doing the sucking anymore so that's a good thing. When she's shut in DS's room, she'll cry to get out, and Rocky will cry too if we let it go on too long. :Sob: They're slowly but surely becoming good buddies and we're going to try to make sure nobody bullies the other, especially while she's so tiny. When they get older they can fight it out if necessary. My niece update: Tina saw the surgeon and he said he's 85% sure the cancer originated on her tongue and that it spread to the lymph node. She'll have surgery in Chicago in a couple of weeks (I don't know the date yet) and he's going to make a large incision behind her ear and go in to remove the growth from her tongue and look at the surrounding area to make sure he gets it all. I'm hoping and praying it will just be the one spot and he can get it all without doing too much cutting. If it's as he thinks it is, she'll then have a series of radiation treatments afterward. He didn't say anything about chemo that I know of. One thing I should mention, Tina smoked for many years, but as soon as she found out it was cancer, she quit cold turkey and says it hasn't bothered her. She's so worried though and not sleeping at night, which is understandable. I'll be going to spend the night next weekend with both nieces and my sister too. We're going to cheer Tina up and bring her some surprises too. :) She wants to get her Christmas shopping done as well. As for myself, I'm still applying for jobs steadily. The one I'd really like should be hiring soon, so keep me in your prayers that I have a good chance. Chasing after the kitties is exhausting, though DS does most of it. They need supervised playtimes and then each needs lots of special attention to know they're well loved. We might die of exhaustion but they'll both be very well trained and with high self esteem. :D  I read your updates and sending out hugs, prayers, and love to you all. You all mean a lot to me and I love reading your updates. :grouphug: |
Good Morning!! I plan on making my garage sale signs today. I had to call the newspaper yesterday and have the lady read my ad back to me 'cos I couldn't remember what time I had my sale starting! :o She just laughed and said that alot of people do that.
Beautiful day here but heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow. It's supposed to be clear and cold on Saturday.....that's the only day I'm concerned with, I'm having second thoughts about selling my piano now. It's purely sentimental reasons but I know from experience that until I'm ready I won't be OK with letting it go. I did that with some of DH's things and I was shocked at how upset I was. Never doin' that again. I'm going to try and get another hour or so of sleep this morning. A plumber is scheduled to be here at 10 AM to see what the problem is with my kitchen sink. Everyone have a good day! :grouphug: |
Kelly, most people advise having the new cat be in a separate room for awhile until the old one gets used to the new scent and then limited play until they get used to each other. I finally have a cat that if we get another furbaby, we'll have to do that. That is one good vet, you've got.
Wiz, prayers going out.:hug: Pam, feel better soon.:hug: Sandy, glad to hear your mom's going to be released soon. :) Jackie, I'm sorry you're hubby isn't feeling well. Totally understand the frustration sometimes when we can't help them like we think we should.:hug: Vonn, wish I liked gingersnaps, gingerbread, etc. But can only handle the taste of ginger in small quantities. :( Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: |
Good morning everyone!
Wiz - Keeping you niece as well as you and your family in my prayers. Kelly - LOL. Sounds like something I would do. I keep a calendar on my desk and that helps me keep track of things. If I have something real important to remember, I put a post it on my door so I don't forget. Pam - I hope you start feeling better soon. Sarah - Don't worry about breaking down like that. It is a good thing to have a good cry. Hang in there. If you continue to feel down like that talk to your dr about it as he/she can recommend a counselor and/or meds to help you through all of this. Vonn - I read your post yesterday but have slept since then.:o:p I hope you are feeling better and your throat is less sore. Jackie -'s for you too. You do take care of your DH more than you think. Emotional support is just as important. I hope your DH feels better soon. Weave - I get my hair cut for $10.00 at a local salon. I've been going there for several years now and the girl I go to helps me out some. I have long hair and she charges me for short hair. If I have her color it she charges me for a cut, shampoo, and style which is way cheaper. She's awesome. My last cut was done by my 14-year old niece.:D She did a good job as she cut 5 inches (give or take) off. One side is a bit longer than the other but I wear it in a ponytail most of the time.;) Ask around and see who other people go to or recommend. Sandy - Yeah!!!! I am so glad your mom is going to be released and you all will be picking her up. That is awesome! Everyone else - Thinking about you all as well. Have a few projects to work on today. We pick names in our family and the tradition is that you make the gift. It always amazes me the ideas and creativity that goes in to these gifts. Last year my brother had us and made me a domino set out of wood. He cut, sanded, stained and put the marks in each piece. A lot of work went in to that and they are absolutely beautiful. So cool!!! I've been trying to get my creative juices flowing and have come up with a couple of ideas. Have a great day everyone! |
Back in my office at school and ready for class. I am now marking off the days on my calendar until the end of the semester.:o I imagine the students are doing the same.
The rumor mill says that furloughs will start in February, but we do not have a firm policy yet. The president has stated that February is the deadline to develop a policy. It appears that as long as we are under contract, those represented by unions (which includes faculty) cannot be furloughed (unless the unions agree wtih the policy). However our current contract expires in May. Plus that would mean fourloughing just administrators (which does not bother me too much) and low level civil service employees (which does not seem fair). |
morning everyone .. thanks for your thoughts and prayers regarding my throat ... all seems to be well ... I'm trying to remember who said it would be more like 5 days instead of the 2 that the nurses told me (was it Weave?? thanks!!) ...
the follow-up girl phoned last night to hear about my progress - and I mentioned about the 5 day healing vs 2 days ... :D but, I was kind about it ... trying not to think too much about moving ... and then I get this overwhelming "GOOD" feeling about moving back to Green Bay ... and would be able to empty out my storage unit and have everything in ONE place with a bit more room .. I get excited about thinking about it - setting up my knitting machine .... and getting a long-arm quilting machine (eventually) ... to make some extra $$ quilting quilts for others ... tomorrow - is the follow-up with the doctor and talk about what the next step to do about the cholesterol results, now ... I'm good - really good ... and I'm not going to let the MS stop me from spreading my wings ... the quilt program has helped me to realize who I am ... all my life, (way back to high school), I would make afghans and doilies to give to friends and family for their birthdays, etc ... and I'd get the "Vonn, you don't make anything giving your stuff away!!!" ... so, (thanks to the MS) ... I got my head together and figured that THAT is who I am!!! and started an outreach program, got a master's degree to boot ... and shed a tear of joy when I ship off a quilt!! knowing that I'm doing a good thing! okay - lots to do (like pack!) .. and work on more goodies!! have a great day .. .thanks for letting me blab on!! |
Morning all! I have to take the darn car in again. It's doing the same thing showing warnings, this time about the emergency brake. That's how it started before. I love when you call and they act like it's not a big deal. So off to the shop at 2pm. So much for getting anything done around here. About picking mom up. The car needs to be fixed, Chris has to work doubles all next week so we have to take the dog. That leaves no room in the van for mom to pile her stuff in. Argh.
Sorry for the vent. |
Hello everyone, we have had a busy day doing some shopping and the bank & bill day to. Went and made appointment with a new optician today need a retest as when I had them done earlier this year old one got it wrong as I have to remove my specs for small print. DH is starting to feel better as Ibueprophin is starting to ease the inflamation. My TN has kicked off again today more to deal with but I will win. Love you all Big Huggs Jackie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx :grouphug::grouphug::hug::hug:

OK, that's it. I want to be a meteorologist and make lots of money. I've gotten a different forecast for Saturday's weather every time I watch the news. Saturday is my long-planned-for garage sale. This morning it was forecast to be sunny and cold. Now.....they're saying rain/snow showers and a high of 43!
I think I'll quit watching the weather and do it like my Dad used to do. Just look out the window. |
hey Kelly ... don't fret about the weather ... those true-blue garage sales people venture out in almost anything!! I know - I was one once ... well, my mom was!!
spending the day with a friend - a little shop hopping (quilt shops, of course) ... and 4pm follow-up with the doctor regarding the liver biopsy tests ... have a great day!! make it special!! :Dancing-Chilli: |
Good morning!
Vonn - Good luck today! I hope all goes well. Let us know. Kelly - Vonn is right, those garage salers will come regardless of the weather. Jackie - Sorry your TN is acting up. I hope you feel better soon. Barb - Yes, the countdown is on! lol Hang in there! Sandy - Vent away! LOL Hope you are feel better too. Hi everyone else!'s all around for everyone. Not doing too much today. Working on Christmas gifts until work comes in (month end reports) and going to my parents for coffee this morning. Have a great day everyone! |
Good Morning! It's pouring rain here this morning....we're under a flood watch. My back yard is beginning to look like a lake. Good day to take lots of naps!
Guess I'll probably do the last of my work getting ready for the garage sale. DS moved some heavy boxes for me last night so I can get a little more set-up done today. One good thing....we found the Christmas tree! I'll probably put it up next weekend. I tend to wait later and later in the month to put it up because the cats always try to climb it! Time for some coffee. Ya'll have a good Wednesday. I'll just be here trying to stay dry! :grouphug: :grouphug: |
Hey all!
Kelly...Im wishing good weather for you this weekend! vonn...let us know how the appt goes. tricia...enjoy your time with your folks...I am so thankful my parents are close by too! moo...glad the hubby is feeling better! barb...december always flies by...it will be break before you know it. sandy..good news about your mom! I hope the move goes well. fin, holly, wiz, sarah, deb, pam, weav, have a wonderful hump day! my update: very busy making cookies...later today we have a girlscout meeting and the girls are so excited for their service project. We will be working with the mspca and meals on wheels programs. We will be packaging up 1lb bags of cat food for those who receive the meals on wheels. This way they get to keep their beloved pets if we help with the pet food! We will be doing this every six weeks or so.:) Anyway, gotta run to the store. love and hugs to everyone:grouphug: |
Hi all:) Well I thought I would pop in and say hi as we are off out this evening and I'm busy getting ready but I wanted to see you were all ok. Hope you day goes well and happy. Love Jackie. xxxxxx:hug::grouphug::grouphug::hug:

I just filled out a volunteer application to participate in the Meals on Wheels program here in my city. I'm hoping they can use me one day a week to deliver meals in my area. The Senior Center where I'd pick them up is only about three miles from my house so it wouldn't require alot of traveling. I think it'd be a fun thing to do. The website said that it only takes about three hours a day to make the deliveries. Once they check me out and confirm that I'm not a criminal  I'll get my route!! I'm excited!! :D
|
Hi Everybody! :grouphug:
Have a good Wednesday! Kelly, My DH did that for about five years, twice a week and it was very rewarding. I think you'll like it too because you're such a generous soul. My update: I spoke to my MS neuro late yesterday and I'll be going back on Copaxone. I just faxed back the paperwork so they can get the RX started. I'll stay on it until Cladribine is approved (the oral chemo drug) and that could take up to a year or more now because they made a mistake on the FDA application and it was returned. :( |
Spent the first part of the morning at the clinic -- blood work, steroid shot in knee (did not hurt too much), and xrays of knee. I imagine the next step will be physical therapy. PCP also want me to get one of those cycles for your legs that you can use when you sit in a regular chair. I need to do some research on those. I made it back to school for my class with ten minutes to spare. I am going to lunch with friends, plan on doing some grading this afternoon, and then I have to come back here for a department meeting at 4:00. We are getting some rain right now that is supposed to turn into snow late this afternoon or evening. As long as it is not freezing precip ...
|
Hi everyone!!
Hope all are well this Wednesday...winter is going to arrive soon today, so I have to get out in the yard and find a way to pick up the land mines that my dog and my DS's dog has left...I'm not supposed to bend over, so I have to be creative... Wiz, hope the C works for you...I'm kind of glad you're off of Ty...hope and pray that your niece has a positive outcome... Sandy, glad to hear you have some news about your mom...prayers for you and all your loved ones as you deal with the challenges ahead:hug: Vonn...good luck at your appt... Barb, steroid injections in my knees lasted for a bit, but not long enough...hope yours helps:hug: Kelly, praying for good weather for you! And you are such a gem for wanting to help others like the Meals on Wheels program...bless your heart! My neuro took me off of the RLS med for 10 days...I felt as if I was in hell last night...could not lie or sit without a lot of leg movement...lasted until after 3 am before I finally fell asleep. DH came and got me out of the chair and took me up to bed at 4:30, and I slept until 9am:eek: If I have another night like this, I'm calling the neuro...there's no way I can do that again... Well, I need to get out there before the weather turns sour...have an absolutely great afternoon, everyone!!:D |
Debbie, what RLS med were you taking? My legs get restless at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. It's like they have a mind of their own. I have to move them around or I get the strangest sensations. It's not painful but it is aggravating when I'm trying to settle down and go to sleep.
|
I have a job interview tomorrow for that sales job!!! :D I thought they'd changed their minds because they hadn't called! :Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli:
|
I am on ropinerole, the generic for requip...
Wiz, that's great...good luck! |
Wiz -- Good luck!!!:)
I forgot to mention that pcp also told me that she thinks I have a Baker's cyst behind my knee. I was tentatively dx with one about three years ago, but they thought it had burst. I guess they can come back. |
I just realized I didn't check in today. I feel better with the help of cough drops and Ibuprofen. Yep, I got sick. Not H1N1 sick, but just a really bad cold. I did manage to get some cleaning done around here and even emptied mom's closet out. Now if I could get someone to cook and clean the kitchen it would be nice.
Oh and the car is fine GM side. They think Jim's electronic emergency brake is the problem. So we'll go there after we get back if it does it again. |
Hi all,
I had the afternoon from he$&...I had to take the inlaws to the eye doc for a glaucoma checkup...pulled up and they weren't waiting in the foyer of their apartment...so I called...MIL had no idea what I was talking about (even tho we'd talked about it on Saturday). So they raced around dressing and walking downstairs...took 20 min... When we get to the eye doc's place, I let them off and parked the car. When I got inside, she'd run off to the bathroom and my FIL just stood there. So I got him seated and we waited...and waited...needless to say, she didn't know to check in...OMG...so after about 30 min of waiting, one of the tecs came over and asked if we'd done so...she recognized us...so I took my MIL over to check them in...watching her search for her insurance cards is a practice of supreme patience...I don't want to make her feel bad by reaching into her purse...so we waited while she fiddled around...of course she'd forgotten his ID...fortunately, no problem. And she forgot her glasses:eek: Hello eye appointment!! But she was rushed, to her defense... They had various tests and found out that her pressure is through the roof again...so more meds...and I worry so that she doesnt understand what we tell her...and her DH is legally blind, and uses this as an excuse to not do anything... So needless to say I am drinking wine...and trying mightily to mellow out...it's so difficult being responsible for the elderly...when do you step in and make them feel like babies? Do you just let things slide? OMG...it's so hard...:(:( |
UPDATE: ... my liver is NORMAL ... no hep, no NASH, no cirrosis (sp) ... I have a 'fatty' liver .. and need to work on my cholesterol .. .and it's not that bad!! WOO HOO!!
tired ... and going to look at a 2-bedroom apt in Oconto Falls on Friday - and I can transfer the HUD ... and can move in right after Christmas (when they accept me) ... no, I didn't give my notice yet! |
 Debbie
I can relate so much to what you're going through. I went through the same with my Dad. It's so hard to be the one to tell them things have to change. I hope things get easier for you (and them). |
debbie, hugsss and thanks for caring enough for the inlaws!! some do not.
hugss to all Just cleaning out under our sink. I guess without us realizing.. as never down under the sink in kitchen... that the garbage disposal was leaking water... I peeked under there today.. cause I kept noticing those darn like nat flies.. like those fruit flies kind of thing... around kitchen last week or so.. so we were making sure kitchen so very clean etc... but kept noticing them. So hubby said they seem around sink, what about under... ewwwwwwwww there was a big puddle of water muck... mold probably... and so it has ruined the floor shelf in there... we dried it and took out that board. now I was just washing the floorboards underneath with bleach water and hoping that takes care of if it! I was wearing a mask... finally smart. so now hubby just has to do the new piping under there minus the disposal... well that is today... my extra day off... also ran over and dropped off all the tons of info the state needed to consider us for food assistance...my caseworker is hour away now... the one I had listed for our family as children already on medical other than my medical insurance... well he is gone... so all his case work went to the place hour away... not having fun with this new caseworker on phone either... but long story ... so vacation day I took has been busy... I bowled as usual on league last night.. and in pain but used to it lol Thanks all for the hugs and care, the tips are good too. Bed mattress wise.. not very old.. think good condition. I do not think I would need meds for my down times... I think I do good talking thru them and giving the old let it out tears easily... helps!! Wish I Had a better feel for a dx... been checked on that fibro.. but no pressure points bug me at all, and anyhow... the dx or undx is long story too lol... I do have the decorations of red on my green Christmas tree... I do all RED lights.. my favorite color.. and thanks to someone here, I have a small green tree with red lights and a red bow... so beautiful, I love decorating for the holidays. Sandy, good luck on feeling better, and getting your mommy home with you!! hugss to all, sarah |
Yeah Vonn!!! That is great news and I am so happy for you.:hug:
|
Vonn, that's really good news...how do you lose fat from your liver? are there certain exercises that focus on just the liver?
Where is Oconta Falls (sp)? In the middle of the state? or up north? Thanks Kelly for the empathy...never thought I'd be in this position. when the inlaws were "healthy" they said they'd never obligate any of us...that they'd go into a home. Guess they forgot...:( Can't sleep again...legs are driving me crazy. Guess I'll have to call the dear neuro tomorrow morning, because there's no way in he#@ I'm going to live like this... |
Having trouble sleeping myself. Leg is just is being a huge pain. It's amazing how poorly I type during the nights. I guess these meds (ambien and baclofen) have an effect even if they are not knocking me out. I have had to fix almost every word.
Vonn- good news regarding the biopsy:D Debbie -- Hope you get some sleep. Last night I was thinking the same way as you -- I cannot live like this and do my job. Needless to say, I had a good cry -- half due to pain and half due to frustration. Hope you all are having sweet dreams. |
Morning all....it's really too early to be up but here I sit. I'll go back to bed in a little while.
Well, it sounds like it's going to rain on my garage sale now. 70% chance of precip Friday night into Saturday morning. We'll see. Seems they change the forecast every few hours. Both of my cats have a wild hair this morning and they're zipping around the house playing hide and seek with each other. They sound like a herd of cattle running up and down the hall. Once they get off the rug runners and onto the hardwood floors they wipe out and skid all around. It's so funny to watch! :D Seems like it would hurt but they don't seem to mind. I have a few errands to run today and DS26 is going to stop by around lunch time. He's off today and will be on this side of town. I need to go to the bank and get some change ($1's and coins) just in case the weather holds out for my sale. Also have to stop by Home Depot and get some wooden stakes for my signs. Well, I'm getting sleepy now so I guess I'll head back to bed for a couple of hours. Ya'll have a great Thursday! :grouphug: :grouphug: |
good morning all you sparkling, busy elves ...
Kelly - too much catnip??? ... they are kitties with "cat-itude" ... LOL Debbie ... the 'Falls' is not even 1/2 hour north of Green Bay ... I will have room to quilt, sew, cut, knit, paint ... and room for company!! have to save every nickel after the new year - to buy land to build my lighthouse ... and will have a pole-shed/studio for the quilt outreach!! would like to build this summer/fall ... about the cholesterol: ... my one number is suppose to be under 100 ... and it's 103 ... and the other one is 126 or something ... although I don't 'look' like I need to lose 10 lbs ... I could to be the healthiest person in the world!! about the liver - on a scale from 1 to 100 .. 1 being a perfect liver ... I'm at "14" ... :Dancing-Chilli: |
Debbie - I just wanted to pop in with some advise on the in-law situation. I feel for you. I know about the fine line you are walking. However, this situation is becoming hard to manage and it is stressful for you and probably quite stressful for them.
It could be that they would rather you be more in charge but are just as afraid to ask as you are to take more control. I went through this with my Grandma. She didn't want to ask for too much help, but I didn't want to hurt her pride or what little independence she had left. When I finally sat down with her and told her my dilemma, she was far more worried about putting too much on me than me taking control from her. We were both relieved. Even though it was more work for me, it was easier than tiptoeing around the issue and being stressed when things would become a mess. Any which way, I think you and your DH need to think about what could be done to make things run smoother and then sit down and work it out with his parents. If this has to be your responsibility, then it really needs to be on terms that you can handle. They need to understand that you are enabling them to hang onto their independence, but you need their help and cooperation in order for this to work. You really have to think about what would make taking care of them easier for you. Think of all of the little disasters that keep happening and then find a solution to prevent them in the future. For instance, a social worker at the hospital gave me a tip to make copies of her medical card so that we would have them at the ready. Good luck with the whole situation. I know how hard it is to watch our elders become so dependent and sometimes almost child-like. |
Hi every one. Hope your day is going well. We managed to go out last night had a bit of a panic attack just before going Its so stupid how scared of getting in and out of a different car I get. But I manged no probs just fear. Big huggs Love Jackie :grouphug::hug::grouphug::hug: xxxxxxxxx
|
Holly,
Thanks for the advice and support...I do have a copy of their meds list, but I never thought to make copies of their ins. cards. I will get my DH on that right away. She becomes so flustered when she needs to do something as simple as finding her insurance cards. She can't remember what section of the wallet it's in, and it takes forever...looking in this section and that, and going back to the same sections...this is the type of thing that happens. I just want to reach in and get it out, but I hate stepping on her independence. So it's a question of letting her get flustered and finally finding her stuff or me stepping on her toes and getting it out for her, but at least she wouldn't be flustered. Hard call for me to make... I need to step up and call them the morning of appts, and things like that so we don't have to rush and panic. The problem is my memory isn't the best either and I forget to call them, or order their meds, or I'll make a list of what new scripts they need and forget it at home when we go to the doc's. Things like that that make this so stressful. And my DH is overloaded with taking up the slack in my duties around the house for 3 mos. while I recover from surgery. So his plate is full, too. Fun and merriment here!! Anyway, had a bad night again, so I'm about to call the neuro and ask what I can do to get some sleep during the night. This can't go on... Barb, I hear ya...tears flowing too...wish I could give you a real hug... Kelly, hope the skies shine this weekend, no matter what those overpaid weather people say... |
:grouphug: to all. I'm moving slow these days. My body does not like the weather changes at all. It has been rainy and just plain yucky the last few days. It is getting colder and they say we could see some snow by Friday night. I just want some sunshine, hate being cooped up all day.
I'm trying to prepare for all my appointments next week. Somehow all my "maintenance" stuff has all moved to December ... MRI on the 10th, Dentist on the 16th and Gastro doc on the 18th. I need to do some shopping, but my energy is falling with the barometric pressure. :D I sympathize with those with sleeping issues. My nights are spent tossing and turning from pain and lately coughing. Naps are my new recreation. |
Two words. It's snowing. Ugh

P.S. .. did I tell you that my doctor (that I seen yesterday) really liked my website ... even introduced me to one of his nurses as he stood next to me with his arm around my shoulders ... that made my day!! |

I just want you to know that I have lost my kitty-quilt. Oh, I know exactly where it is.......Tigger has adopted it. He sleeps on it every single night (and naptimes during the day, too). Gracie will attempt to use it but if Tigger sees her on it he tries to get on it, too. She will eventually give up and move. It's either that....or have him try to curl up on top of her! |
