The job interview went well today. They need to interview two other people but it sounds like I might have an edge over the others because of my background and experience.

Keep your collective fingers crossed for me! BTW, I'm exhausted. :thud:

tkrik 12-03-2009 09:19 PM

Yeah, Wiz!!! Keeping everything crossed that this one works out for you.:hug:

Vonn07 12-03-2009 11:28 PM

way to go, Wiz ... I, for one, know you are a "smarty-pants" ... or is it a 'good egg'?? anyways ... thinking of you .. hope they call YOU!! :Clever:

I suppose we won't see much of you the next couple of days, huh Kelly? okay - the question of the day ... which SIDE does Tigger sleep on?? the one with ALL the cats?? or the 'girly' side??

hope you have a great garage sales!!

UPDATE: will be back later tomorrow afternoon ... and fill you in what I'm up to ... :D :OuttaHere:

soxmom 12-04-2009 08:51 AM

fingers crossed for you Wiz.:)

good luck tomorrow Kel.:)

barb02 12-04-2009 10:03 AM

TGIF!!!

Wiz -- Hope you get the job!

Kelly -- Good luck with the sale !

I was awake all night again. Watching QVC at 3:00 in the morning. Luckily I did not order anything. Grading papers before my first class.

Kitty 12-04-2009 10:13 AM

LOL Barb! I haven't watched QVC in quite a while.......thanks for reminding me! :rolleyes: :o

I've got several errands to run today. Home Depot, the grocery store and PetSmart. Probably won't get it all done but oh, well.

DS has promised to stay home tonight to help me set up the garage for the sale tomorrow. Even if the weather is yucky we'll be in the garage so hopefully someone will venture out. The weather report keeps changing and now they're saying winter precip overnight but mostly in far north GA. Who knows......it'll probably be sunny and 70 degrees! :rolleyes:

Vonn, the cats sleep on the fuzzy "kitty" side of the quilt. :)

Who's got their Christmas tree up? I'm thinking we'll put ours up next weekend. Since the crazy cats try to climb it I'm wanting to wait as long as I can to put it up. I'm tempted to just skip it but don't want to look like a Scrooge. :o

OK, time for a shower. Ya'll have a good day and stay warm! :grouphug:

barb02 12-04-2009 11:50 AM

It's snowing here -- not alot -- just an occasional flake.

Kelly, I put up two trees. One is a pencil tree (tall and really skinny) and the other is a shorter (five foot) fat tree that I put on a table. Don't be a scrooge! I love looking at the lights at night.

SandyC 12-04-2009 11:52 AM

Morning all. I am feeling better today. Last night I let Bergie out and noticed the pond was frozen over. I ran and grabbed the pond heater and threw it in. It doesn't seem to be doing anything but at least they have a hole to breath through. Anyone have a pond heater? Does the ice gather around it?

My plans for the day are to finish up those blankets and then start wrapping gifts. I need to get these things done before we leave to get mom. She's being a pistal about leaving so soon but I told her everything will be ok once she's settled. It's all happeneing so fast for her so I am trying to be understanding. Who wouldn't be a little freaked if they just spent over a month in rehab and then was moved out of their apartment over the weekend?

Everyone have a good day. :hug: Wiz, hope you get the job!

Debbie D 12-04-2009 01:15 PM

Good afternoone,everyone! Brrr...winter has finally arrived...in the 20s here.

Sandy, my pond heater usually has a ring of water around it...just make sure there's a hole for the gas to escape. If you don't have a water ring around it, check your electric supply (circuit breaker, fuse etc). Sometimes they blow and you don't even know it. And don't hit the ice too hard...scares the little fishies to death...literally.
And good luck with your mom...:hug:
Barb, when I'm up in the middle of the night I turn on the Weather Channel and turn the volume low...works to put me to sleep better than warm milk:)

Wiz, I have my fingers and toes crossed for ya...you're a gem, and anyone who hires you will find that out!!

So...I went to the urogyne for my 2 week post op check up...it didn't go so well...now I have severe stress incontinence. The surgeon's associate checked me and had me cough and had to move back quickly:holysheep:

He apologized for me having this new problem, and called the head surgeon in, who also apologized and explained how this occured (we'd discussed this possibly happening before I had the surgery). I told him, "I'm cool," and he grinned and patted my knee and said, "I know..." still apoligized.
So I'll have to have another urodynamics test in March and more surgery, followed by no activity for 4 weeks. Needless to say, I'm delaying the surgery until after I get back from Hawaii. No activity (you know what I mean) when you're in paradise? Heck no!:eek:

So I'm off to the inlaws to take them on their errands. DS29 is insisting on coming with, driving and loading their groceries in their cart. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful family!!

Have a great weekend all...:D

supermoo 12-04-2009 01:17 PM

Hi all, Its cold today. Had a bad night due to face pain :( Still I'm deturmined not to let it win. Hope you all have a fab weekend. love Jackie. xxxxxxxxxxxx:hug::grouphug::grouphug::hug:

ewizabeth 12-04-2009 02:52 PM

Hi dear ones, :grouphug:

I'll be heading out to spend the night with my nieces and sister tonight. I leave at 3:15 and have to pick up Panera bagels and bread bowls (per my sis' suggestion.)

I have a lady delivering a home made candle basket soon (she makes soy candles) ... with a country design, for my niece's house.

The kitties are keeping me running and I'm tired. :thud:

If I get this job, our other DS will answer the phone in the home office and learn the ropes of what we do. He only has a part time bartending job now, besides playing in his band and helping out in a small construction company from time to time. I'd like both sons to work this job if they want. Checking in to insurance plans for them (cheap for 20-something guys.) They'll have to pay for part of it out of their paycheck but at least they'll have minimal coverage.

The job I'm applying for is retail and sales and I'd be on my feet a lot. I know they have barstools behind the counter though so sometimes I'd be able to sit.

It's a very good paying job with very good benefits and it's something I know and like, cell phones and service. :)

It's either this or the accounting job with our town but they haven't called for an interview yet, so who knows? :confused: I'd prefer that but this other one might be better. It has a potential of very high earnings with commissions too.

Kelly,

Good luck with your sale.

Vonn,

I'm very glad your liver is ok. :hug:

Barb,

I hope you'll be ok after that pred shot.

Sox and Sarah,

Have a good weekend with the kiddos.

Jackie and Trish, :hug: :hug:

Debbie,

Darn those complications anyway. :hug: We want you well, and soon! But your DS really is a sweetie for helping out with the in-laws.

Sandy,

I'm keeping you and Jim and your mom in my prayers. :hug:

TKTC, Weave, Fin, everybody else.... :grouphug: Have a good weekend!

FinLady 12-04-2009 04:56 PM

Hi all. Just checking in real quick. Got hit with some kind of nasty bug and haven't had much strength. Still a little blah. But been nursing fluids and resting as much as I can.

Take care all! :grouphug::grouphug:

Vonn07 12-04-2009 06:10 PM

believe it or not ...

I went to check out a 2 bd apartment.... it's an upper ... with a patio ... AND A GARAGE ...

okay okay - don't get too excited ... have to make sure the HUD will transfer for this to work ...

I have plenty of help to move the little bit I have ... most of it I can move with my car ... and the rest with one trip with a friend's covered pick-up truck ..

been taking down pix and spackling the holes ... so far, it all looks like new!!

have a very tasty chili in the crock-pot .. will leave on low all night for the cook-off tomorrow ... I just had a bowl ... and it's awesome!! :Dancing-Chilli:

have a great weekend .... :D

barb02 12-04-2009 08:48 PM

Jenn -- Feel better!:hug:

Kitty 12-05-2009 04:31 AM

I didn't want to wake up this early but here I am anyway! :rolleyes: I'll be ready to climb back in bed just about the time I need to get up to get ready for my garage sale! So far it hasn't rained or snowed here. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Jenn, I hope you feel better today. Those bugs are the worst.

Wiz, one of those bagels sounds really good about now!

Vonn, good luck with the apartment hunting. I'm still looking, too. It's just so expensive to move. I have to weigh the long term benefits.

Everyone have a nice Saturday! I'll be busy today bit will check in later! :grouphug:

Debbie D 12-05-2009 08:37 AM

Good morning, all. had another nice night's sleep:).

Kelly, hope it all goes well today...let us know how much you rake in!
Wiz, hope the fam is okay...thinking and praying...:hug:
Jenn, gee, I hope you feel better soon...:hug:
Vonn, sure hope you find a place suited to what you need...a big room for those quilts!!

DH and I are going to shop this morning. He does have a sinus infection, so he's on z max and mucinex...seems to be helping already.
We had a blue heron in the backyard this morning....we are thinking of stringing fishing line over the top of the pond so the darn birds can't get to our swimming babies...

Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful Saturday!

tkrik 12-05-2009 10:09 AM

Checking in real quick as I have so much I want to get done today. (Laundry, cleaning, painting, and a couple of other projects).

Barb - The countdown is going is on . . .I can hear the stress in DD18's voice though as she is preparing for finals, doing term papers, etc. DD19 is the same way. Yikes! :p

Kelly - Good luck today with your garage sale. I hope all goes well.

Wiz - Keeping all of you in my prayers. Check in with us when you can.:hug:

Debbie - :hug::hug: I hope things start getting better for you.

Fin - Hope you feel better soon. There are some nasty things going around right now.:hug:

Sandy - Thanks for listening. I really appreciate it.:hug:

Vonn - Hope the apt works out for you. I hate, hate moving. It is such a chore.

Jackie - I hope that you are in less pain today.:hug:

Everyone - Thinking of you as well.

Have a great day everyone!

FinLady 12-05-2009 10:17 AM

Wiz, :hug::hug:

Kelly, crossing fingers the weather cooperates for your sale

Vonn, hope HUD pulls through. Sounds like a nice place.

Debbie, hope DH feels better soon. :hug:

Jackie, sorry to hear about the pain. :hug::hug:

Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:

~~~~
Have gone from feeling like a blob to subhuman - so slowly getting better. Stomach and stuff have calmed down, and fever broke yesterday. So thankful I'm on ye olde mend. We have jokingly blamed going to the doc's office for this nightmare. :D but given the season, could have gotten it anywhere. :rolleyes:
Take care everyone! :hug::hug:
barb02 12-05-2009 10:42 AM
Trish -- Hope you and your daughters survive the end of the semester. I will be doing more grading this weekend.
Kelly -- Good luck with the sale!
Jenn -- sounds like you are starting to improve.:D I went to the doctors on Wednesday, and got a sore throat yesterday. Now I am coughing , etc. Hope I can avoid a sinus infection. It seems like everyone around here has either that or bronchitis or both.
I am going to a Christmas show tonight with a friend, I think. I would rather skip it, but I paid $53.00 for my ticket so I am going. I have been thinking about calling my friend and seeing if she can find someone else to go with (give them my ticket), but I know she will be ticked off. I guess I will ponder this for another hour or so before I make a decision.
SandyC 12-05-2009 10:54 AM
Morning everyone! I finished all the blankets last night!!!! :Dancing-Chilli: Now I can start wrapping and get that done before we take off. Whew :thud:
Wiz, have a nice visit with your niece and sister. :hug:
Kitty, good luck with the garage sale!
Trish, anytime. :hug:
Debbie, birds can't get to my fish. It is frozen solid except where the heater is.
Jenn, glad your feeling better! I wont complain about my nasty cold. The tummy bug is sent from evil. :hug:
Vonn, hope the apartment works out!
Supermoo, hope your feeling better. :hug:
Barb, I heard on the news about the security breach at school. Hope the find out what or who breached the system.
barb02 12-05-2009 12:47 PM
Sandy, I can't believe you heard about that. I just read about it in our local paper today. Do you think that the university has contacted faculty? Noooooooooo!
Yep, it was on the news this morning. Apparently (they say) faculty wasn't affected, just students and new admissions. Hmmm. Reminds me of the time someone took a government computer home with them and thousands of veterans were affected but they said "Don't worry." We didn't find out until the news reported it. :rolleyes:
Kitty 12-05-2009 02:48 PM
I'm back! We made $391 off the garage sale today! :D
It was supposed to go until 3 PM but we sold just about everything by 2 PM and didn't see a reason to stay out in the cold any longer. It sleeted for about five minutes around 8 AM but then quit and the skies cleared but it go very windy. It's in the low 40's today so that made it seem even colder.
I'm so tired.....I was up around 4:30 AM and have not been back to sleep since. I think an early bedtime is in order tonight. I'm going to go get on the couch and try to rest a little before supper.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts for my sale.....they worked! :grouphug:
supermoo 12-05-2009 04:07 PM
Just a quick note. Hope you are all well or getting there:) I am still suffering but staying level Its not as bad as it can get :p Love to you all Jackie. xxxxxxxxxx:hug::hug::grouphug::grouphug:
Evening all,
Kelly, so glad it went so well and you made a nice amount of money!! Now get some well-deserved rest...
Vonn, glad the chili did so well, and more importantly, that you enjoyed yourself...continued prayers for your search for a new place...
Jenn, take care of yourself...:hug:
Barb, keep up with vitamins, etc to try to stay healthy around those germ-mobiles called students;)
Sandy, glad you got all that done...you're going to be really busy...
DH and I went shopping...bought some shoes, boots, a purse (love purses!) and some socks for working out...I enjoyed shopping for a change.
Then we went to the Toyota dealer...we're thisclose to buying a Prius...my DH has a BMW 3Z, and he's tired of it...we love Toyotas, esp the high mpg...so we got the quote and went home...need to sleep on it before we take on another bill...but I do love new cars...
Well, take care all and have a great Saturday night!!:)
ewizabeth 12-05-2009 09:41 PM
I had a wonderful night last night with my nieces and sister. :)
Tina has her cancer surgery on Monday at noon. She hadn't slept since she found out, but last night she finally slept well. When the four of us get together we're just nutty and funny. My nieces are hilarious.
Today I was setting the timer on my camera and "running" to sit with them. They saw me run and started laughing hysterically. :D I knew it was funny, but I was so glad to see them smile so I did it repeatedly. :rolleyes: :wink:
They said it looked like I'd just gotten off a horse. :D (Thanks MS!) :Thats-Funneh: It was just hilarious and we just had a great time together. It was way overdue and such good medicine for all of us.
We had some fabulous and cheap Thai food downtown in Dixon, browsed in shops, and went to a wine bar and laughed some more. Tina's boyfriend (a darling sweetheart!) was there too.
I just want to ask everybody to please pray hard for Tina at noon CST on Monday and before if you can. She's had an extremely difficult life and this can't be a really bad cancer, it just can't. :(
She's so special and wonderful and I love her very much. I'm going to be praying hard for a long time until I know she's going to be ok.
sabimax 12-05-2009 10:44 PM
wiz panera mmmmmm and none near by... not anywhere near by...lol.. glad the time with family was good.. and prayers for her surgery...
so love to all... hugs to all... hugsss,sarah
TwoKidsTwoCats 12-06-2009 12:32 AM
We had snow! About an 1/2 inch fell during the night (early Saturday). It was mostly melted by 10am.
I'm still feeling like the carp the cat dragged up. Tired, achy and coughing...so I'm not sleeping well. I have Valium to take for my MRI on Thursday. I suspect I'll sleep through most of it!:p
We put up our Christmas tree and decorated the house a bit. DH pulled everything from the attic early this morning. I come in and all he has on the tree are the Star Trek ornaments we have collected each year since they started the series. We added sparkly star ornaments, a few balls for planets and suns and small disco type balls for sparkle! :D Oh he also added NASA ornaments he had collected. SO we have a space themed tree this year. Some of the ornaments plug into the trees lights and when it turns on they all start talking at once.
Kelly, glad your sale went so well!
Wiz, my prayers will be going up for your niece. :hug: hope you get that job too.
Sandy, have a safe trip. :hug:
:grouphug: to all.
Kitty 12-06-2009 09:29 AM
Morning all! I'm feeling the effects of yesterday this morning......I'm so stiff and sore. I'm sure it's because I'm not used to any type of all day body movement like I had on Saturday. I pulled some muscles in my right side - probably from helping to move the tables - and this morning it screamed at me when I tried to sit up in bed. :mad: I took some Motrin so it'll feel better here in a little bit.
I'm going to use my sale proceeds to get a few Christmas presents. This year it's going to be practical presents for everyone. We just cannot afford to be frivolous this year. I think for DS and his GF I'm going to get a board game they've been wanting (they're trying to stay home & not go out so much and thought this would help) and a gift card to Publix (for groceries). For younger DS I'm going to get a gift card to either WalMart or just a Visa giftcard where he can decide where to use it. I'll also get him a gasoline giftcard from the store he buys his gas from. Might get a couple of DVD's or music CD's for them but that is going to be it. I'll fix my traditional turkey and cornbread dressing dinner so that'll have to count for a gift! :o I already have the cats stockings hung in front of the fireplace so I'll have to get a couple of bags of treats for them. Can't forget those babies!
I might try and get the tree up this next week. We usually put it up and leave it undecorated for a couple of days until the cats inspect every square inch of it and approve it. :rolleyes: I can decorate it next week - that'll give me something to do. My boys don't care anything about decorating. These are the times I wish I had a daughter. :(
OK, I've bored you all enough with my rambling. Need one more cup of coffee. Ya'll have a nice Sunday! :grouphug:
Debbie D 12-06-2009 09:42 AM
Morning, all!! It's a beautiful, but cold, day here...
Kelly, sorry to hear your body's getting back at you for all of the activity...take it easy today!
We're going to stay inside and watch the putrid Bears play...DH got a great receiver/audio system for his 35 anniversary at work, so he's going to set that up. Then who knows? His sinus infection is really making him cough and drain, so I don't think we'll make it to downtown Chicago tonight like I was hoping, but there will be other evenings.
I need to do my sleep study tomorrow night. Glad it's not Tuesday night...we're supposed to get hit with several inches of snow...at least that's what the weather people say...we here usually have a bubble around us, and it usually misses us.
Well, hope all of you have a great Sunday!!:)
barb02 12-06-2009 10:09 AM
Went to the Christmas show last night. Enjoyed it despite my coughing, sneezing, aching body:rolleyes:. But no temperature! I did not get home until after 11:00 (which is late for my these days) and feeling exhausted today.
I need to finish grading graduate papers; I only have three more to go and then figure out final grades . Each paper is about 25 pages long so they take awhile. I am taking my class out for lunch tomorrow at a local Mexican restaurant. I use to have them come to my house, but I do not have the energy to do that anymore.
Meanwhile, I just want to crawl back into bed.
tkrik 12-06-2009 02:23 PM
Wiz - Still keeping you all in my prayers. I am glad you are there and you all had some good laughs together.:hug:
Debbie - Good luck with your sleep study. Let us know how it goes. Also, I hope DH feels better soon. :hug:
Barb - Good luck with grading all those papers.:eek::hug: That's a lot.
Sandy - Have a good trip. I'll pray that the weather is good for you on your trip.:hug:
Kelly - Way to go, Girl!!! You did awesome on your sale. :hug:
Fin - How are you doing?
Anyone else I missed (and I know I did :p) - Hope you are doing well.
Not doing much today. Getting ready to head down for a nap, have a turkey cooking in the oven, and DBF is coming over to look at my car that won't start(:mad:).
Have a great rest of the day!:hug::grouphug:
supermoo 12-06-2009 02:51 PM
Hello my lovely friends :) Slow day today. My TN is still at it :( My diability is getting to me at the moment, You would think after 40 odd years I would be used. But the fact is its degenerating and I don't want it to :eek: Sorry rant over.
Vonn Glad chilli went down well and you had a good time.:hug:
ewizabeth glad you had a good time will burn a candle for Tina and family :hug:
Sarah hope you find your post soon :wink: :hug:
TKTC Your tree sounds cool Hope you feel better soon. :hug:
Kitty Glad your sale went well. Hope you feel ok soon.:hug:
Wiz, prayers definitely going out! :hug::hug:
Kelly, sounds like a great idea for the proceeds for the sale. :)
Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug:
~~~~~

Yesterday was fun. Should've expected it since I was really sick and had a fever and all that. It was a Fibro/MS tagteam of symptoms day. OY! Muscle spasms, weakness, foot drag, fibro pain in multiple spots, and cog fog. :(

Was ready to cry and was doing the whole "I'm too young for this carp" yelling most of the day. But letting those emotions go every once in awhile does help, and feeling emotionally better now. :)

Plans for today just include puttering around ye olde homestead. Trying to feel out how the bod is doing, but too early yet for me to know.

Take care everyone!

tkrik 12-07-2009 09:25 AM

Fin - :hug::hug: I hope today is a better day for you.

Jackie - I think we can all relate to your frustration. When things act up like that I get the same way. Hang in there and know we all understand.:hug:

Busy day ahead of me today. Lots of phone calls to make. I wanted to find a pt job but still don't have approval from neuro for such. I need to call the SSA office and figure that one out. I also have to call some of the Medicare Advantage plans to see how to get on one. I called Medicare a few weeks ago and they cannot figure out why the state dropped me from Medicaid as I am well below the poverty level. It's so crazy. So my day will consist of phone calls and doing a cost analysis. :eek::mad::(:confused: (My projected emotions for the day. LOL)

Have a great day everyone!:hug::grouphug:

It was interesting and fun. I have always loved history.

I have my youngest home sick with me but otherwise all is well.

I will leave you with a joke(you have probably heard it). Im not sure
why I think this is so funny:

What did the snowman say to the other snowman??? Do you smell carrots?

hollym 12-07-2009 02:49 PM

I'm here reading / lurking most of the time. I love following your lives. I'm really in a funk right now. I don't feel like I'm keeping my head above water most days.

What's really frustrating me is that I really do not feel like having anything to do with Christmas this year. It's not like I can get away with that, though. My kids do expect and deserve to have a nice Christmas even if I am in a bad mood. Also, my brother is coming up and I want him to have a good Christmas.

I have been shopping off and on for presents when things are on sale, but I want nothing to do with decorating or anything. If a Christmas song comes on the radio, I turn it off. I am just kind of begrudgingly performing my "responsibilities" and feeling nothing. This is not like me. I usually love Christmas - it's always been my favorite holiday.

I know part of this is that Grandma passed away this year. Part of it is also that it just seems like so much BS anymore and feels so empty. The season is filled with things we are expected to do that have nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas. I hate feeling like I'm on a month long marathon that is such a blur that I haven't enjoyed anything. It seems like I'm running and running all the way up until we go to bed on Christmas Eve and then the next morning, it's over in a blur of flying wrapping paper.

I'm just kind of thinking "out loud" here trying to sort out my feelings. I don't know if I need to add another AD or just figure out how to cut down on the madness without disappointing anyone....

Thanks for listening to my whine - I'm off to find some cheese to go with it.

Holly, sorry you are feeling down.:hug: I have been taping and watching cheesy XMAS movies to try to get me in the mood. What I am dreading about this Christmas is driving back to Ohio. I cannot disappoint my 81 year old mother by not coming, but it is getting harder and harder for me to drive distances. I have just about finished shopping, but can not build up any enthusiasm for actually wrapping the presents.

Sandy -- Be careful driving. There has been a problem with a lot of deer on Interstate 57, especially at dusk/evening and dawn.

Soxmom -- I have not have homemade pierogi's for years. Yum!

Tricia, Good luck with the phone calls.

We had about 1/2 inch of snow today. It looks like we are going to get mostly rain tomorrow, but it is then supposed to turn to snow. I prefer that over freezing rain.:eek: I took my grad students out to lunch, and now I am going to lay down for awhile. I did not get much sleep last night -- too busy coughing, blowing my nose, and peeing:rolleyes:
