Hi everyne :) Hope you are all doing ok. Managed to get some jobs one. I'm now dead on my wheels :p Sending you all big huggs Jackie xxxxxxxxxxxx:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
|
:grouphug: Howdy everyone! It is another cloudy icky day here. The highlight of the day was watching my neighbor get a couple of new windows installed...in the rain. Other than that I've napped or been on the computer.
Holly, I struggle with the same feelings about Christmas preparations and celebrations. It started when my Grandma passed away 14 years ago on Dec. 13th. Talk to your family and scale things back if you need to. We did and still keep it quiet and focused on the true reason for the season. ;) Jackie  I hope you are resting those wheels! Vonn, Fin, Barb, Sox, Tkrik... :grouphug: |
HOLLY hugssssssssssssss we understand!! :) let the feelings out, then try one of those cheesy movies... hugsss
hugss all sox thanks, weekend was full of working and oh went to go see New Moon with hubby we enjoyed it. I now want to read all those books! well not much here, going to go with my parents for my dads colonoscopy in the morning. My mom was like Sarah, you have so much on your plate.. to be coming to sit with me.. but if you are sure you have the time.. I appreciate you coming to be with me. Think she is way nervous.. well we all are... dad has been ok, but lately very week and tired out... hoping no more cancer about! I work the night shift tomorrow 3-11pm.... blah but then off wednesday and thursday.. hugss all, sarah (oh snow snow snow in forecast ahhhhhh) |
Thank you for your prayers!
Tina did well with the surgery!! :) It lasted 4 1/2 hours and the doctor thinks he got it all. He's 80% sure it was just the lump and the spot on her tongue. He's sending it for biopsy to make sure it hasn't spread to the lungs. In 20% of people it does I guess.
She'll have radiation treatments to her neck and if it's in the lungs, one round of chemo. If it's only in the neck, then he said it should be 100% cured with the radiation. She didn't need a trachiotomy or a feeding tube. He said she's young and strong so she should recover well. Since he had to remove a lot of muscle from her neck, she'll need physical therapy to regain use of her shoulder. Thank God she's going to be ok. I'm hopeful that she's in the 80% group. :) :grouphug: |
Wiz - That is good news!!! I am glad to hear that. I will keep her in my prayers for a speedy recovery AND that she is in that 80%.
|
Wiz, I'll keep praying for Tina. Hopefully they caught this early enough before it spread.
Sarah, Praying your dad gets a good report! |
Wiz,
glad to hear she did well...prayers for a quick recovery and good news from the biopsy:hug: |
We are in Tennessee. Barb, I hear ya! I must have seen at least three deer dead on the highway. Two were together, bless their hearts. I also saw a small grey kitten in the middle of the lanes (the grass area) and that about tore me up. I just know the little thing tried to get to the other side. I hope it did.
Other than that, he trip was smooth sailing. I am glad we left early. I'll update soon. |
Good Morning!
Wiz, I'm so glad things went well with the surgery. I'm still praying that all the tests come back OK. Sandy, I'm glad ya'll made it safely. Hey, you're not that far from me now! Hope the trip back home is good. Pam, the rain is here with us today. All day storms predicted. I love a rainy day, though, so it's okay with me. I'm still half asleep so please excuse any typos I make. :o Everyone have a good day! :grouphug: |
Wiz, glad her surgery went well. Still praying.:hug:
Holly,:hug: Sandy, glad you guys made it safly there. ~~~~~~~ Morning everyone. Sipping coffee trying to wake up. Supposed to rain/snow today, so will probably concentrate on some cleaning today - inside. Take care everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: |
Im heading off to pt and my dads office for an adjustment. I have to
get this hip/back thing to back off!!!!!!!!!! Wiz ....great news , Im so glad that tina did so well. everyone else......................:hug::hug::hug::hug : |
Sandy, glad that you left early. It has been raining all morning, but so far no snow. The temperature is about 35., so we may see some mixed precip eventually.
Soxmom -- Hope the adjustment helps. Wiz -- Good news re your niece. |
Wiz glad the surgery went well, prayers that it did not get to lungs are being said.. hugssss
my dad colonoscopy was clear, not even a polyp.. yeahhh it was this time almost to the date that dad had the one done, that we were told of the cancer, which was only few months after losing Madeline. So, we are relieved at least this colonoscopy was clear. He sees the oncologist Thursday, which I want to know when he will have a cat scan of area just to make sure nothing has spread, as you know he had to stop chemo due to reactions. hugsss all, heading to work a 3-11pm shift....blahhhh but then off two days... oh but one of those days getting two wisdom teeth pulled and a crown fun fun. hugsss all, sarah |
Good afternoon all...
Got through the sleep study with the baby Hannibal Lector mask...the technician said I got some deep sleep later in the night, which I guess is a good thing... spent the rest of the morning driving inlaws to their dentist for a second opinion...at least I got a free lunch out of it...they paid for it:) Hope all of you in the path of the storm coming stay warm and safe... |
hey Debbie ... I wouldn't be able to sleep with that on my head! hopefully they'll find out and help with your sleep!!
added 3 more new quilts to the website ... and got them mailed before the snow started building up .. they just posted a BLIZZARD WARNING for our county now ... YAHOO!!! I'm watching it build up and up and up!! too cool ... decision to make yet ... I think I blew out a brain cell thinking about it!! :D |
Good morning all :) Storm one blew through and high winds until storm two gets here.
So sipping my coffee to try to get myself moving. Cupboards are bare so need to brave the grochery store. Crossing fingers I can get it done during the window we've got. Take care everyone! :) |
Good Morning everyone. I shouldn't be up this early. I was already up at 5 AM and went back to bed. The lawn treatment guys came early this morning and were talking (loudly) in my backyard. Scared the daylights out of me because they were right beside my bedroom window. Thought I had a peeping Tom! They finished and were on their way but I was wide awake by then! I can't complain.....my landlord pays for the lawn treatment so I should be thankful he cares enough about the way the yard looks.
I'm now waiting for a pickup of various items I'm donating to the local charity here in our city. I have a dozen boxes of stuff in the garage for them and can't wait to get rid of it. Maybe I can get my car back in the garage once it's all out. I'm trying to decide if I want to tackle putting the Christmas tree up today or not. It's easy to assemble....just three big pieces. I usually assemble it and then let the cats inspect it for a day or two.....get it out of their system type thing......and then decorate it. I found a home for my piano!! Yea!! I knew I wouldn't have room for it when and if I move to a smaller place. I've tried selling it but that didn't work. I finally asked my nephew and his wife if they wanted it and they were thrilled to have it! His mother is my sister that passed away a couple of years ago......and she played it, too......so it meant alot to me that it's staying in the family. They have three small children and his wife was just thrilled to have it so they can start their kids on piano lessons. :) Time for more coffee and then I'm going to get started on cleaning out another closet. Ya'll have a nice day! :grouphug: |
Hi everyone! I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday. Busy, busy around here. I had lots of errands to do yesterday plus visiting with my parents. I've been trying to sell all the useless things we have around here and downsize now that the girls are out of the house and I have a broken down car that I need to get the parts for. (Borrowing my dad's right now).
Today, I have one of the reps from a Medicare Advantage/Medigap plan coming over to discuss their plans and what options I have. Have a great day everyone! |
Kelly - That is so cool about the piano!!! I am so glad you found someone in the family to take it.
|
Kel..that was so nice that you passed the piano on. I have my grandmothers
piano and I love having it! hello everyone else...happy day to you all! my kids are home today...snow day!!!:D I had a plan to bake a bunch of cookies but I think I wont get as much done as I thought. I have eight different kinds in the freezer already, only twelve to go! The cookies are a gift for all of my friends and family. My dh delivers trays a couple of days before Christmas.:) My ds17 just took the smaller two kids taboggoning on the mountain behind our house so I should probably get off this computer and into the kitchen. Love to you all! |
Things are going much better with the kitties now. They're becoming good friends but they wrestle a lot. Daisy is getting bigger and stronger so she can keep up with Rocky most of the time. He still gets too rough sometimes though and they have to be separated. She's jumping and exploring now too.
She does something that's hilarious and adorable. We have these little furry fake mice and if she finds one she starts "killing it" and starts hissing and growling if anybody comes near her. She also runs with it in her mouth. :D Rocky won't even get near her when she's "killing" one of these mice. Her momma was an outdoor cat and very tough and scrappy and I'm sure she learned this from her. :D |
WE GOT SNOW!!
oh I love this time of year!! over 12 inches!! and 4-6 more on it's way!! and got 6 more months of it ... I was born in April ... and by then - I'm ready for spring!! |
Had rain/sleet all day yesterday. Now it is snowing and the wet roads are turning to ice. The wind is terrible -- freezing out. It sounds as if the trees are going to break. And is supposed to be colder tomorrow. I am in my office at school right now. As soon as my class is over, I am heading home. I was supposed to go to a holiday lunch on campus, but I gave my ticket away. Wish me luck on walking to my car.
Vonn, You are crazy:)! |
Barb, hear ya on the wind. We've got it too. It looks like somebody's potential garden pond is in my neighbor's yard.
|
Made it home. Sidewalks and parking lots are all ice. Streets are turning to ice. We are down to 24 degrees, with a windchill of 7. Tomorrow, the wind chills are supposed to be zero to - 7. Is this the kind of cold weather you like Kelly?;)
I plan on wrapping some presents this afternoon, and taking a long winter's nap. I am praying that my house does not blow away to Ohio. I think that is the direction of the wind. |
Quote:
We have a wind advisory today. Wind gusts of 40+ mph. I believe it, too. I can hear it through my chimney. Our temps today are dropping and we'll be in the high 20's by tomorrow morning and not out of the 40's through Sunday. We even got some sleet and snow last weekend but nothing much. The ground is still too warm for it to stick. Ya'll be careful in the ice and snow up there. I know this is par for the course for you and you're used to it. I'd take it more often down here if it were up to me! |
don't worry, Barb ... my friends say that I'm nuts, anyways ... when I went in for my MRI to dx for the MS ... (looking for some support/sympathy/empathy) ... I would get a 'blank' look from them with the comment "but, don't you need a brain first for them to scan?" ...
I know, I know .. I have the bestest friends ever!! these are the ones that KNOW they can pick on me!! we learned in our family that if you don't pick on each other - they really don't care about you ... I've turned it around by being a 'complimentary' picker ... and encourager ... :D |
Vonn........your family sounds like mine. If my dad doesnt pick on ya, it
means he doesnt like you.;) |
Hi everyone. Dropping by long enough to pass out hugs, prayers, safe travel wishes and vent. Will post again when I'm in a better mood.
major non-festive rant alert. leave post or proceed with caution. I figure this is DD's last Christmas before leaving home for college and everything that happens after that. I wanted the decorating to be the best ever, or at the very least, better than average. As usual the house looks like an explosion in a Goodwill store. Partly my fault, and partly out of my hands. Scratch best ever decorating. I went up into the attic to get two large trees, came down with one and quit. Hello least amount of decorating ever. My nerves will not tolerate getting anything more. DD saw how upset I was and offered to get the the other tree herself. I showed her the mess that is the attic. She understood. Getting DH to do it is out of the question. I'm putting up one tree and my card basket and I fear that is all I will so this year. I can get to smaller decorations but there is no point to decorating an explosion. Something tells me the clutter isn't going away any time real soon. Not at all the Christmas I wanted for my DD's last childhood one. I've already had myself a little cry, still mad as h*** but slowly moving on. ok. rant over. |
Okay -- Now I think that both Kelly and Vonn are crazy:D My entire house is shaking and one of my students told my she saw a squirrel blown out of a tree.
|
Weav...take a big deep breath and maybe have a cup of tea. Ya know
what ...next year she will be looking foreward to coming home for the holidays and you can do it up then. It will make her homecoming extra special. Do what you can, Im sure she understands. |
glad I was able to make it to the post office yesterday to send out more surprises:ROTFLMAO: ... just hope my boss doesn't mind ..
:Thats-Funneh:OH, *I'M* the boss :D ... yep, I totally approve!! hee hee ... ho ho ... ha ha .. oh, I love my 'job' ...::In-Lurve: |
Hugss Weave,
a good cry is always a good thing for your heart! and your daughter loves the holidays with you no matter what is up with the house. I too have been a bit blue or something.... LOTS OF SNOW! I went out with the little three in the snow and we played for a while! In a bit, i want to take a walk, as the snow fall is pretty... a bit windy though! after working last night, I woke in bad bad pain... but the more I move the better I feel, when I sit still is when it hurts worse.. ugggg I did however start a round of prednisone... just cause feeling shitty, pain, a bit dizzy spell starting... and the dr had given me a script and said to use it when needed, I have not used it since last winter, I had needed a round in January, then in Feb. and then in March... april I could have used it... but felt it was getting too much ... so took the spells... well gotta go, bundle up for a walk... hugsssss, sarah |
Hi all sorry this is a quick one my laptop being formatted. Will be back as soon as poss. Love you all hugsss Jackie xxxxxxx :grouphug::grouphug::hug:
|
Brrrr...hello all...
Kelly, what a great thing you did by giving the piano to your nephew. I got all teary-eyed when I read your post. you're a gem... Vonn-my DD got a snow day....she was tickled pink. Sent a text photo of her apartment balcony with a foot of snow on it. She loves this weather, too...but you take the cake...;) Nice busy day...got hair highlighted/cut, cleaned up a bit, and just enjoyed the afternoon. didn't really get a darned thing done, and that's okay, at least today...:) Stay warm, dry, and hold on to your hats if you're in the wind...:) |
I just can't keep up with you all! Lol
I hope all of you in that cold, stormy, snowy, & windy weather stay safe and warm. |
Thanks Sox and Sarah. There is a ring of truth to what you say. The sickening thing is the magical Christmases were so long ago all the kids remember are the barely done ones. Every year I swear the next will be better, yet they all look the same. Ugh! This isn't a lack of money thing either, but a too much stuff problem. Well money is really tight too. But if the economy was better we could sell off the extra stuff, giving us room to move around and help with the mounting bills. Please don't suggest we have a yard sale. Tried that twice last summer and virtually nothing sold. It was good stuff too. Blasted crappy economy. Sorry folks. Don't mean to be such a humbug again. :o
|
Hey everyone! We're headed home tomorrow. I'll check in if I am not too busy getting mom settled.
|
Sandy, safe travels!
Barb, if a squirrel gets blown out of a tree, does it become a flying squirrel?:D Weave,:hug: ~~~~~ Well, today has been interesting. Temps climbed to the mid-50s, then plummeted this afternoon to the 30s. Went to store, came home and rested, had a minor meltdown, in pain, had a good dinner with friends. So my day reflected the temp changes - LOL! Hoping for a better day tomorrow. Take care everyone and stay safe! :grouphug::grouphug: |
Weave - I did something to make extra money that was easy and painless. I took all of my old and broken gold jewelry that I didn't want anymore to a place that buys back gold. A lot of local jewelers do that now that gold is so valuable. They test it and weigh it and give you an offer which you can either accept or turn down.
In my case, it was great because I wear the same earrings and necklace every day, so there were tons of things that I could get rid of that had been sitting in my jewelry box for years. I also had a bunch of stuff from Grandma that she hadn't worn in years. I kept the jewelry from her that was sentimental and/or very valuable. They gave me an offer of over $700 which I gladly accepted and walked out of there with a check in hand. I would not ever mail my stuff into one of those companies, but this way, I was in control. Do some research into your local options if you are interested in this. I used Goldman's because they have a permanent local store, but they also travel around to hotels all over the place and do events on the weekends. |
