Happy MOnday morning!
Sandy...I am glad that everyone seems to be on the same page.:hug: pam...I hope you get all the rain you need! barb....big hugs to you:hug::hug: vonn...heat is a good thing where you live.;) Im glad it is functioning now. kel...you are such a sweet person...always doing things for others:hug: tricia...how was YOUR weekend? deb, wiz, holly, sarah, weav, fin, moo...I hope everyone had a good weekend. Well, my busy weekend is over...nothing to do but go sit at the book fair and take money:D My dh's party went well, we had about 75 people.... I was beat yesterday. Yesterday, we took our gs troop on a gleaning mission. We went to a local organic farm and they let us pick their leftover veggies. Did you know that roughly 30% of all food grown in US is left uneaten? I didnt until yesterday.:o So the 12 girls and 5 of us adults picked 900 lbs of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes for our local food pantry. I did okay...I actually felt a bit better moving around, the only thing I could not do was pick potatoes so not bad.:) Then we brought them on our bus to the pantry and loaded their delivery truck. Now our local peeps will have fresh, local, organic produce! Yay! It was fun and we hope to do this again! I hope everyone has a great day, love and hugs to all!:grouphug: |

Restaurants are the absolute worst culprits and need to make a conscious effort to find shelters and other community resources to share their overages with. Okay.....off my soapbox......:o :Soapbox: We're having thunderstorms here this morning. All three cats were on the bed with me when I woke up! They're such fraidy cats! I'm staying in today...probably in my jammies....and reading. Everybody have a wonderful Monday! :grouphug: |
Good morning everyone!
It looks like many of you are in for some bad weather. Stay safe! Sox - What you did with the GS was awesome!!! That is so cool and I proud of you and all the girls for doing that. Vonn - Glad to hear you are nice and warm now. Barb - We all have days like that. I am sure getting 7 hours straight of sleep helped quite a bit. Lack of sleep can always make things seem worse. Hi everyone else! Thinking of you as well. Not sure what I am going to do today. Woke up stuffed up again - allergies! UGH! Does anyone notice that when their allergies act up so does their MS? Anyhow, I hope to finish up some paintings I did over the weekend and get them ready for the sale. That's my big plans for the day.:D Have a good day, Everyone! |
Kelly - My DH is a restaurant manager and they would love to donate to shelters, however, restaurants have been sued by the recipients of free food (food poisoning) and liability risk is too high. The best part is that the food poisoning issues probably didn't originate with the restaurant, but rather improper handling after it was donated.
I know this was the case with the chain he worked with previously (they were simply not allowed by corporate to donate), but I'm not sure about the present chain whether they are allowed to donate. I'll have to ask. Apparently, grocery stores dump a lot of food that is still OK, too. I saw a show about it on Oprah one time. It was really shocking. |
I know, Holly, and it's such a shame that it's like that. It seems that suing is a "hobby" for some and they jut look for opportunities. I guess that's why many people resort to dumpster diving to retrieve things that grocery stores and restaurants throw away. I watched a program about it and there were people who actually had good jobs and lived in desirable areas who went through various dumpsters several times a week. They figured out the schedule of when items were discarded and got them soon after they were thrown away. Can't say I'd ever resort to that....but for some it's that or hunger. I wish there was an easy fix for it but there doesn't seem to be. All I can do is just not waste what I'm fortunate enough to have. :)

Good evening everyone...it's getting windy here...we're under a wind warning:confused: 55-60mph winds expected tomorrow through Wednesday, so I put the chairs and umbrellas away...got the stuff put away early. Thank you wind gods!!
Hard to remember all of the posts since I got back to town...but VONN!! We've missed ya, girl!! So where abouts in WI are you? Near the UP? Hayward? Tomahawk? We go up to Minong every year, about 30 mi west of Hayward...DD lives near Wausau...I love it up there...God's country for sure, IMHO...:) Good luck with your venture!! I want to hear more about it, so post away!! I had a nice time visiting with DS33 and DIL over the weekend. DS35's friend, who's a staff member of Biden's, didn't get us into the White House as planned:(:( I didn't let on how truly bummed I was. DH and I went to the Library of Congress, though and went through the forming of the U.S., as well as Jefferson's library (I'm a Jefferson freak). It was really neat to see some of his collection, esp the books with the bookmarks still in them... then we went to the air & space museum so I could sit...my leg spasms were nasty:( We ended up, at my suggestion:rolleyes: going into a flight simulator where we went upside down, etc. What was I thinking? Well, DH always dreamed of going into a fighter jet, so I thought this would give him a feel for it...what a feel!!:vomit: No thank you... We went to an orchard and picked apples, then went to a wine-tasting place. My legs were so bad...but I put on a happy face and dealt with it. By the time we went to bed at home Sunday night, my legs were in full-out rebellion...took many zanaflex and massage before I could finally go to sleep...after 1:30 am... I called the neuro today finally to tell them about that and the vision probs...the neuro said it's probably due to the recent bout of UTI I've been fighting, and that if it doesn't calm down by the end of the week to call. What was really amusing/embarrassing was when the nurse called me back, I had my rear exposed to the world about to get a hemerrhoid banded...so I was kind of curt and abrupt with the nurse...I'm writing her a note of apology and explanation...sheesh:holysheep::Blush2: Well, hope all of you have a wonderful night's sleep...the weather's changing up here in the midwest...stay safe everyone!!:) |
Well I thought I better pop in for an update. Hugs and prayers for all. Nice to see you Vonn. I enjoy reading about your crafting adventures.
So what is new with me? Not much really. Freeze season is here. Blasted raynaud's. I won't be warm again until Spring. I keep dreaming about moving south. Not as far south as I can go, but farther than I am now. The family is keeping me on my toes. Crafts, work, and life in general take up the rest of my time. Until next time, have a good one. :grouphug: |
Either I killed the thread and should never post again, or everyone is very busy/ asleep. :o

Vonn, I am about hour away from Norway, I actually see a neuro in Iron Mtn>
TK, thanks... lets see my appointment went well. She put me on steroids, gave me new script for Vicoden. She ordered a xray of my neck... which they called today and said xray bones and structure all good... that normal result.. but they did see neck muscle spasms... hmm I could have told them they would see that lol.... anyhow the steroids calmed stuff down a bit.... but neck is hurting a lot today, and I worked and came home early as I have to go back in tonight 5-11pm... due to a manager of mine is sick with fever... :( then I work again at 7am :( well hugss to all, wow so windy outside, up to 60 mph wind gusts today... ahhhhh maybe I will blow away then not have to go to work hahahaha take care all, love, sarah |
Hello everyone! Ya'll must be busy....this thread is slowing down.
We're under tornado watches and warnings here this afternoon. It's so windy right now but warm...close to 80 degrees! Cooler weather is on the way. This weekend the highs are forecast to be in the 60's. My little niece is doing well. I posted an update on the Sanctuary thread. Oldest DS will be home week after next. Seems like he's been gone forever. Very intense classroom and physical training this time. He said he finally has a six-pack (the tummy muscle kind!). Maybe I need to do some of his workout exercises! :o Debbie, what kind of vision problems are you having? That's my biggest sx....vision problems. I won't drive after dark anymore. :( Everyone have a nice evening! :grouphug: |
