Debbie and Kel,:hug: totally understand. It was my mom's favorite as well. The memories remain bittersweet, but I find I remember a lot more about the little things my mom had done for us, which makes me smile even more.
Barb, they can't decide quite yet how much we're gonna get, but I expect about an inch. Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: |
Brrrr...its freaking cold here! snowed up north, but we got a dusting.
DH and I are tangling over Christmas gifts. He doesnt know my size, my fav color, he has no clue what to get me. I sent him a gift list in email followed by links on where to find the best price. He is still clueless. Funny, he can pick out things galore for his sisters and mother and brothers, even his uncle's wife, but his own wife...he is clueless. 99% of the time I end up quitting, taking him by the hand leading him to an item I like and telling him to take it up front and pay for it. This year, my feelings are hurt and I want HIM to pick out ONE item for me. just ONE! I am so easy to shop for its not funny. esp with a list I gave him. so, im pouting today. He wants to just "give me money." NO! I have my own money! I dont need money. I need something thoughtful. After 23 years of marriage I think he should be able to pick ONE gift. or am I out of line? Going to go to the matinee today and see Harry Potter. now I am in a foul mood, feeling unloved. what a baby I can be! |
Dej, you're not being unreasonable. Especially after 23 years of marriage. And a list and links to show a picture of the item! What else can you do??? Go buy it yourself and wrap it up and act surprised on Christmas morning?! :p
My DH used to wait till the absolute last minute. As in the day of whatever event was occurring. I could always count on him being late coming home on my birthday.......he was stopping at the mall on his way home for my gift. Used to irritate me to death but I really couldn't complain. At least he remembered and did manage to pick something out. It just seemed like it was always a last minute thing and really didn't need to be. But it was usually one of my treasured designer purses (D&B).....he knew how to work it!!! |
Good Morning! Playing Christmas music (Harry Connick Junior) and taking a break from wrapping Christmas presents. My spasticity is pretty bad today. I just took two baclofen. My neuro said I could try if on an occasional basis to see if it helps even though it is not supposed to be taken that way. I have only tried it one other time and it did not really help, but I thought I would try it again:rolleyes:.
We only got a dusting of snow.:) |
Hey ya'll! Read my last post in the Sanctuary:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post722239-141.html I got this update yesterday. Could not have asked for a better birthday present! :) |
Hey all, sorry I have been MIA. Been trying to catch up. I cleaned the whole house and just have laundry left. We have a reporter coming to the house Tuesday to do a story on Jim and a few other patients on their illness and what happened in Springfield. They want those who were there that day. Debbie, what are you doing Tuesday at 1pm? If you'd like to get in on the story please come by.
Other than that, xmas decs are up and on outside. I can finally relax! Oh wait, I still need to cook and get showers. ARGH! Dej, no, if you guys still exchange it's not wrong to be frustrated since you gave him everything he needed to buy something. Jim and I don't exchange, haven't in years. We like it that way but everyone is different. We just buy what we want when we want and that works for us. LOL Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I confess I haven't read all of the post but I have to get going to feed Jim. I haven't been a very good wife lately with all the cleaning and stuff. Tomorrow he's getting a nice home cooked roast. Tonight, grilled cheese. |
hey all ..
well, I did not get the long-arm ... and drove home wondering what I could different - and that I've been making changes to get one .. :Talkative: but - it's okay .. I have plenty to finish and work on .. and quilts will just be tied ... hope everyone had a great day ... I did not go to the HOG (Harley Owner's Group) chili-cook-off ... I made the chili ... and will be eating it for a week - it's good, I may of won! well, back to what I have right in front of me .. and set up my website, etc ... and get stuff in a shop to sell next week ... OH, my pegboard quilt block - that's categorized as 'workable' art ... you would still hang stuff on it .. but, this way - you have a beautiful quilt block in the background .. |
still cold here! I am playing hookey from church. my back isnt happy, and I dont feel like sitting on a hard bench in the cold sancuary for hours.
DH called me to the computer last night. He was very frustrated and upset. He said he was trying to get me a gift, but the S&H kept coming up to $149. Is that right?! I said NO! its not right, and if you look at the delivery date its well past Christmas. We exchange one or two gifts each year, and put a limit on the amount. its nice to have someone give back to you after a year of giving to others. I switched him to a new site, got free S&H for the same item, and told him he was out of the dog house for trying. God Bless him, he said "was I IN the dog house?!" he went on to explain that every time he tries to do something nice, he usually sees it all messed up in the end. Like paying twice what the item is worth for S&H. Everytime he picks up my meds at the pharmacy they are the wrong kind, wrong pill or wrong count. no wonder he doesnt want to try. So, once again I got to pick out my own gift, led him to the virtual check out and explained how to pay for it. Poor thing. I threw my attitude into the food bank yesterday. I went and stocked shelves and took applications for help. I led three old ladies in town that I know needed help to the doorway, stood with them, and held their hand while they filled out the applications. They all got food to take home. Embarrassed and upset, but they have food. I helped more apply for fuel assistance, and took one more to the local church for a supply of blankets from the stock we just took in. so, I tried to keep myself busy with those who have much less than I. Some how that tends to make my own life seem more forunate. I hope you are all safe and warm. |
Oh Debbie ... YOU ARE A BLESSING ... it's so wonderful to hear how you helped those waiting and filling out the aps .. YOU are a WONDERFUL person!! you were at the right place and right time!! I'm tearing-up just thinking of how awesome that was!!
because of you and your kindness ... I am safe and warm .. inside and out!! |
Dej -- Wow that sounds like a great day. I hope to be able to do that type of volunteering once I am retired.
I have spent the morning listening to XMAS music and grading papers. I am now done my big class.:D So I have the rest of the day to just read and relax. I am picking up a friend in a little while to go out for Thai for lunch. I also need to pick up some birthday cards at Walgreen's. Hope you all are having a good day! |
