Hi everyone. :)

Didn't get a chance to post this morn. LOL, my internet was out and it wasn't on our end. :rolleyes: I'm just going to resign myself to the fact that murphey's law applies to my home sometimes. :D

Taking a break from my project. starting to see the results. :yahoo: Which I really need cuz I'm trying real hard not to be down at myself for not being able to do it in the time I used to. My energy is down, but my motivation is there. *sigh* Don't know if I'll ever get used to this "new" normal, but a trying.

Hope everyone has had a good day. :grouphug:

~~~~~~~
Kay, glad they caught the guys. Been worried about you.
Vonn, I didn't even think about the use of gas with your choices. :Doh:Oh my, I'm glad you were able to get the one closer to everything.
Renee, :hug: Hope you feel better soon. Sorry to hear about the insurance fiasco going on. Hope something comes your way soon.
Sarah, glad to hear the little one's fever broke.
TK, LOL - sounds like me. One of our rooms is my art studio part time.
ewizabeth 07-09-2008 05:50 PM
Kay,
I'm so glad they caught the murderers. I hope they punish them severely to deter that from happening again in your community.
NaeNae,
Sorry you're feeling under the weather. I hope you get help soon. :( :hug:
Vonn,
I'm so happy that you finally have a nice place to live. :hug:
Barb,
No bad storms here, they seem to go north and south in our county (knock on wood!) :eek:
Hi to everybody else, love to hear about your daily lives. It's so comforting somehow. :) :grouphug:
About that cake I made for Sunday... :cool: It was RICH, so I'm glad it's gone. The boys took most of it home with them. I rarely ever bake anymore, except for DH's birthday and DSs' birthdays. Also, to take a dessert to pass at the holidays.
DH and I are on the heart healthy diet with low saturated fat, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lean chicken and fish, whole grains, etc... The good fats are EV olive oil which DH cooks with, plus we have fresh avocado in our salads five nights a week. It takes awhile to get used to it, but now it really tastes good.
It took awhile to get DH agree to start eating this way, but now that we do, we both feel better. Since cancer and heart disease run in his family, and high blood pressure, type II diabetes and autoimmune diseases in my family, we had to do it to protect our health.
Frank, We use Smart Balance too, I love it! :p Their peanut butter is yummy too, and so good for you!
Today I did the push mowing outside, since it was my day off. DH does the riding part. I also pulled a few weeds and trimmed some tree branches. I slept until 11:30am, vegged until 3:30, then did my work. I'm sitting here vegging again now. :cool: So, at least I got something done today. :wink:
FinLady 07-10-2008 08:47 AM
Good morning all :) Hope everyone's doing ok this morning. I'll share my coffee if anyone needs it. :D
I can't wait until hubby gets home. I have not been sleeping well this week at all. Not sure if it's because he's away or because of something else. Ah well. I keep on a trucking. ;)
Off to do some running around here soon. Take care everyone.:grouphug:
Vonn07 07-10-2008 08:56 AM
Hey Jenn .. having my coffee with you ...
waiting to hear about moving in today ... and getting my internet set up at the new place ...
that's about it ... and get the sewing machine roaring and paintbrush swishing ... and still downsizing ...
hope everyone has a great day ... going to be a scorcher here - so I have to take it a bit easy with the moving!!
barb02 07-10-2008 09:20 AM
Good Morning everyone! I am off to a doctor's appointment in a little while (think I may have a sinus infection) and then I have a Weight Watcher's meeting. I did not do too well this week. All of my MS symptoms seems to have intensified. I feel like I am being stabeed in my upper leg everytine I walk.
Vonn, Hope the move is going ok. A view of the lake sound wonderful. I love to just sit and stare at water ( lakes, ocean), but for some reason staring at my bathtub does not work:D
Jenn, Keep that running to a minimun.
Hope everyone has a good day!
hollym 07-10-2008 09:28 AM
It's been awhile checking in for me. I've just been reading lately. So much is going on for all of you.
I'm so happy Vonn got her lake front place (that's the one I was rooting for!).
Kay - I'm so glad they caught the bad guys in Belize, but so sorry you had to deal with that.
Renee - I'm so sorry about the pain and the crappy health care choices you have now. Is it possible for you to get some steroids to get you through? I don't like taking the roids, but they are cheap, easily available and have always helped me a great deal. Even if you can't get an infusion, you could always do the oral in high dose or even get the liquid solumedrol and do a smoothie like some people do.
OK that was all my brain could retain of the pages I just read. Those were the things that stuck out in my mind. Everyone else seemed to be doing OK from what I could remember.
Speaking of remembering things, that isn't going so well for me. I'm actually getting a little bid scared about how bad my cognitive function has become. I just cannot keep track of anything and I don't have time to figure out how to revamp things to make it easier.
You know the old saying that goes something like "if everything is coming at you, you are in the wrong lane"? Well, that is my life right now and I'm getting kind of bitter. I sit here and try to figure out what I am doing wrong because things just keep going bad. I figured that I have ticked off the universe in some way or another.
I am having serious financial issues right now that stem from a couple of years worth of bad life events. Every time I think I am starting to make headway toward digging myself out, something else happens.
Yesterday, my husband's car died. It is repairable, but the cost is something mind blowing to me. It's his transmission and the estimate is somewhere between $1,600 and $2,600.:eek::eek::eek:
This stupid car isn't even that old - it's a 2002 and only has ~ 90,000 miles on it. I have had cars with 150,000 miles on them without having to have a transmission rebuilt. Maybe I have just been lucky up until now, maybe this is normal for this age / mileage, but I'm kind of really ticked off at Chevrolet right now, though.
The part that really sucks is that the car isn't even paid off yet. We bought it off of my brother when he was stationed in Korea and then Japan, so we have only owned it for a couple of years. I don't see any option except to bite the bullet and get it fixed, but that just makes me want to cry more than normal.
I love having my Grandma living with us, but I won't lie and say that it is all easy. There are days when I feel like I'm walking on egg shells and there is a lot of stress with trying to get everyone adjusted to this. I'm having some behavior issues with my boys between lack of routine due to summer and adjusting to sharing a room again and just plain old jealousy of my attention being so divided.
This would be hard for someone who is healthy and not dealing with mind blowing fatigue and spasticity. I just wanted to run away the other day. I'm sad, tired, stressed out, scared about the future, and just generally feel like crud.
FranksAngel 07-10-2008 10:02 AM
good morning everyone :Wave-Hello:
i am up and about ... frank is still asleep :Zzzz:
hes been working so hard on the kitchen ... it looks great but i worry about him cause i know he is overextending himself ... he wont listen to me when i tell him to give the kitchen work a break for a day ... so much to do and he wants it done now ... lol
barb ... i hope your doctors appointment goes well :Good-Luck::doctor:
vonn ... i am glad you got to choose the place ... and with a lake view too ... sounds soooo calming ... :):grin:
beth ... frank and i are just starting on the diet changes needed for eating healthy ... so far the changes havent been too hard as we did eat kinda helthy ... biggest change for frank was the butter issue and fried foods ... i will tackle the fried food issues in the fall/winter as we are grilling most nights here ... :sunchair::pepsi:
sandy ... how are you and jim doing ... every day i tell frank i wanna go fishing ... hint hint ... who knows maybe someday he will bring me down there to fish and we could visit ... :Talkative::icon_mrgreen:
to everyone ... again good morning and heres to good friends and good coffee .... hope everyones day is good :grouphug::)
CayoKay 07-10-2008 10:02 AM
Holly, I know what you mean !!
some cars seem to be more shoddily made lately.
one doesn't EXPECT the tranny to croak when the car's only a few years old.
ESPECIALLY if the suckah ain't even paid for yet...
that's gotta be supremely frustrating, as it seems to happen AFTER the warranty runs out... argh !!
and that's a big part of why we got a 25 year old diesel Mazda pickup.
'cause it's mostly things we can jury-rig and repair ourselves, with parts cannibalized from other old junkers.
You know what? If the car had been older, DH could have fixed it! This one has some sort of fancy electronic transmission that almost no one will even touch!
yep...
that's what I was referring to...
the electronic stuff.
I think of that every time I struggle with the manual window cranks.
:D
and in Belize, there's *seriously* no-one trained in vehicle electronics repair, and parts are simply not available.
JustWeave 07-10-2008 10:26 AM
Thanks for the good vibes concerning DD's upcoming trip to Mexico. DH and I could never pay for this trip ourselves so I always figured if Someone else provided the money then she was meant to go. There is no doubt she is supposed to go. I'm really okay with her going but as her mom concern does creep in from time to time.
Von- Congrats on the new digs! I'm sure I would spend lots of time watching the sun dance on the lake. Have fun crafting. I really miss being able to do my thing. Need to get my studio mucked out.
Sandy- I'm sure you will enjoy the shade from your new awning. Another UTI for Jim? Not fun.
sabimax- Glad to hear your little one is feeling better.
FinLady- Sorry to hear about your internet. The gremlins seem to be working overtime here. I've got a big project I'm struggling to get done too. Glad you are seeing good results. That always helps to keep me moving forward.
ewizabeth-Good for you and DH for trying to eat healthy. My gluten free diet took some getting used to be the results are well worth it to me.
barb02- Summer cold? Not fun. Hopefully it won't stick around long.
hollym- I hear ya on the money issues. I could just kick myself for some of the really stupid things I've done in the past. Well no use doing that or crying over the spilled milk either. Grrr. I'll climb out of this hole eventually and so will you. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Here is a :hug:. If you don't need it with all you have on your plate I don't know who does.
And now for me- Morning is just about gone and I have nothing DH would say is good to show for it. Need to come up with a plan for the afternoon that partly makes up for this morning. :o Got some ideas... off I go...
SandyC 07-10-2008 10:37 AM
Hey everyone! Jim and I are having our coffee and trying to get motivated to hit the road to drop off a specimen at the doctors office. We spoke with Jim's spinal cord doctor and came to the conclusion we need to keep Jim on the antibiotic longer. Geez, you think? It's scary to think he may become resistant but the way he's feeling sucks too. Quality of life, that's what it's about right? he's also bringing Jim up at the Uroloigy conference later this week. Apparently problem cases are the focus of the conference and Jim fits the bill! Not sure if that's funny or not.
Anyway, the doctor made a comment about Bactrim. He said it also has some properties in it that make you feel better. That would explain Jim feeling so dang good lately, before he stopped. Anyway, we are going to give it a whirl for six months. 10 days full dose, the rest low dose. Has anyone here been on low dose therapy before? Jim tried Macrobid and had a horrible reaction but Bactrim or Septra seems fine.
Deb, you and Frank decide when a good time is and we'll have the poles ready! Make sure you have a fishing license though, the partrol guys are big on that. lol We can all go and get them here if you want.
Everyone have a good day and stay cool. It's going to be hot today, again. Why can't I afford to live in San Diego? lol
Vonn07 07-10-2008 11:57 AM
well, this is a new dilemma ... (regarding patience)
called the lakefront place (remember, their computers were down yesterday?) well, they still are and she said that maybe tomorrow or Monday now!!
THEN I received voicemail from the other place asking for an explanation - and said that she was blindsided that she didn't know that I was even looking at another place! (I apologized - and said that I was in a turmoil when I heard that Hendrene was feeling better and anticipating returning to her apt) ... didn't realize that I was to 'check in' with her to tell her I was looking - and then they BOTH called on Tuesday to say that they were available!
now - she's telling me that I could actually be moving in today ... and the lakefront is calling me back to see if I can still start moving in yet today ...
my heart is beating... .I don't feel like eating (but did) ... and feel like a ping pong ball being slapped back and forth ... and now I've changed everything to the lakefront ... and have the Charter internet to be set up for monday!
I just want to cry ... but I'm so numb ... I feep like a p**p to explain my reasoning why I withdrew my acceptance ... and to find out it was actually MORE when she gave me the numbers than it is for the lakefront! and the lakefront is even larger! ... I just feel like a p**p ...
it's so hard when you're alone and have to make decisions ... and everyone is pulling for you to do this or that .. that's how I was raised - never was able to say what I liked, because no matter what I said .. it was stupid ... so I have always done what everyone else said I should do ... :(
okay ... rant is over ... :Sigh::Sob::Bawling:
p.s. thanks again, everyone ... and yes, Holly - I too was rooting for the lakefront ... just don't understand all these baracades to get there ... these quirks in the system - when 2 weeks ago (July 2) it was open already! I did the right thing, right??
weegot5kiz 07-10-2008 12:47 PM
vonnie I wish i had the answer, truely i do, the lake one sounds nice closer to friends and town, it would be as spock would say "Logical"
good morning everyone, hmmm good afternoon I mean hope all goes well Sandy howdy Jim
Kay good day
everyone barb fin sarah holly try to have a good afternoon
peace
Vonn07 07-10-2008 01:27 PM
whew .. thanks, Frank ... I'm just not good on the patience end when things seem to go array ... and it's not like the world is coming to an end ... it's not, is it?? nobody told me!!
OH - and the weather?? was suppose to be hot hot hot .. and humid and muggy ... guess what?? (think God's up to something) .. we just got some major storm warnings ... and who wants to move in the rain anyways, right??
NaeNae 07-10-2008 01:57 PM
Hey all thunderstorms and flooding here...instead of going fishing, Sandy you Jim Frank and Deb can come help me build an ark! Our pond is overflowing its banks and it is a DEEP pond! I did go into town today though,had to get some meds refilled and both the kids birthdays are coming up so I got a few birthday presents and since Olivia is so into horsies and cows lately, toys r us had these cute little animal figurines made out of resin so I bought a horse a cow a pig a sheep and a goat so I can make her a farm cake! Dayton wants ice cream cake from Dairy Queen! I am finished with Olivia's presents and almost finished with Daytons. Now I am paying however because I am back in pain! I took the vicodin last night...of course I was puking an hour later...they always do that...but I felt a little better until I went out and about...now going to take it easy the rest of the day!
barb02 07-10-2008 02:07 PM
Vonn, Just go with the lakefront apartment and start moving in. That's my advice ... It sounds nicer.
Nae Nae -- My niece loves animals too. She wants a ruff ruff, a kitty, and a horsy.
Had my doctor's appointment and he thinks that I probably do have a sinus infection and a possible ear infection. He put me on cipro for one week. This is a new drug for me. Weight Watcher's did not go so good this week. I gained .8 of a pound. I am blaming it on the steak quesadilla and rice I had last night. :o I only ate 1/2 of it.
Vonn07 07-10-2008 03:16 PM
thanks, Barb ... I know ... it's just the 'waiting' for them to get their 'system' up and running to get the paperwork to move me in ... hmmm, what did they do before computers??? :Scratch-Head:
tkrik 07-10-2008 04:03 PM
Hi All! Hope you having a good day.
Been really busy today trying to get some art projects done and out of the way so I can do more.:D I started a little after 6 this morning (after my daily morning phone call with my honey).
I am taking just a quick break so I don't have time to respond to all. But as a whole you all have a lot going on!:eek::D I do hope the weather improves, Vonn's move goes OK, Jim gets better, Barb feels better, Weave's daughter has a good trip to Mexico as it sounds very rewarding, Fin brews some coffee for me in the AM 'cause I'm going to need it after today:D, Renee's spasms stop so she can finish up the b-day plans, Kay is able to relax more, Holly's car gets taken care of, Wiz is going to make me some of her awesome low fat meals as I'm on a deadline lol, and that Frank & Deb are having a good day.
If I missed anyone I'm sorry, just going from memory here and you know how MS moments can get. LOL. I'll catch up with all later.
CayoKay 07-10-2008 04:05 PM
ha ha ha ha ha, Vonny-baybee !!
we found THAT out yesterday, while getting our Residency in Belize.
almost EVERYTHING is done by hand, with carbon copies...
:eek:
so, Monday's the big day ??
FinLady 07-10-2008 04:12 PM
Holly, totally understand the feeling of being overswamped sometimes with stuff going on. Hoping things get better soon. :hug:
Vonn, I had a real good comeback for what that person said. If someone asks me why I didn't tell them something like looking at other places, I usually ask them why they didn't ask in the first place if it was so important for them to know. That's just me though. :) Hope this all gets worked out here soon for ya.
Renee, Hope the pain lessens soon. I can just picture a birthday cake with horses on it. It sounds so cool!
Barb, no wonder symptoms have been wacky if you've had those infections brewing. Hope the antibiotic works and you feel better soon. :hug:
~~~~~~~~~~

Well I'm sitting on the couch right now. After the running around the past couple of days, I'm having some wicked muscle fatigue. :tongue: If I bend my knees, it's like I'm Wiley Coyote taking earthquake pills - LOL.

I'm giving my rest another hour or two to see how I'm feeling. Mostly finished, but still have more I'd like to get done today. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a couch slug day. :D

LOL, no problem :D

Vonn07 07-10-2008 05:30 PM

well ... I've done more cleaning and sorting and tossing ... and organizing ... to keep from not thinking about why they haven't gotten their 'system' up and running for me to move in ...

good things come to those that wait .. right??? so hopefully tomorrow ... so we can move big stuff on sunday and my friend can have his garage back ...

I'm close to being looney-tunes in someone else's home ... I'm okay .. .even tho my mood says otherwise .. I'll change it here in the next day or so!

NaeNae 07-10-2008 07:37 PM

Thanks Tricia!

Kay-YAYYYYYY!!! You deserve some slothfulness after all that running back and forth!

Jenn- think all farm animals...a horse, a cow, a pig, a goat and a sheep!

weegot5kiz 07-10-2008 08:08 PM

howdy howdy

that was an eerie storm, lots of lightening and thunder, lots of rain, and it move through fast, yet no wind at all. the trees were standing still, still no wind is blowing, weird never seen a storm like this, did see a funnel but it broke up, thankfully

sandy hang on to what ever it is you hang on to when nasty storms come along cause it still looks like its gonna hit you too, good luck

SandyC 07-10-2008 08:13 PM

I saw your funnel Frank!!!! I pointed it out to Jim and it went down and then up to the clouds. Did you see it a couple of hours ago or more recent? The one I saw was about 3pm. SCARY! It's really windy here now and the power was out sometime while we were out. This is eerie, the wind came out of nowhere.

weegot5kiz 07-10-2008 08:17 PM

no this funnel was recently and we still have no wind, be careful Jim and Sandy and Barb think its heading your way too

SandyC 07-10-2008 10:07 PM

We're Ok! Lots of rain, wind and a little hail. It's still thundering pretty good and the sky is lighting up. Tomorrow is supposed to be really hot and with the cool air tonight it doesn't make a good mix.

Wiz and Barb, how is it by you?

weegot5kiz 07-10-2008 10:13 PM

knew i had to wonder about barb wiz is in our area too where is fin ?

glad you all are ok pretty nasty lightening and thunders some cool cloud formation

hollym 07-11-2008 07:31 AM

:Oops:
OK, first a confession. I have read Frank's signature line several times a day for awhile now and I just finally read it correctly. I thought it was "bad spellers of the world unite" now I see it says "untie". LOL:ROTFLMAO: I feel like a dunce!

Got some good news on the transmission last night. A dear friend gave us another shop to call - two brothers who have an independent transmission shop. They will rebuild the whole transmission for $1,695 and pay the first $50 of the towing. Our friend has been using them for awhile and has found them to be quite honest. That makes me feel better.

This is far better than the quote from AAMCO. From what I have heard of AAMCO's reputation, they always seem to quote a range and then no one ever gets out of there for the low end of the range. They don't really have a good rep around here.:rolleyes:

I'm still so upset over this and everything else got so overwhelming that I couldn't sleep well last night. I only got about 4 hours of sleep. Add tired to fatigue and there just isn't enough coffee for me today.

I'm glad everyone stayed safe with the storms. The storms this year have seemed worse to me even in Pittsburgh. We haven't had near the problems that those of you in the midwest and farther south have had, but this is the first five day forecast with only 1 day of storms forecast since about April! It's about time for things to calm down. I hope it calms down all over so that everyone can dry out.

momXseven 07-11-2008 08:00 AM

Morning all! DH said St. Maarten looked good to him so far so we are going to look into the schools closer and health care and plan a trip there. :D DH has been all over the world but one place he has never been is St. Maarten, I couldn't believe it, LOL.

I'm glad everyone is weathering the storms.

Holly, glad you got some good news on the transmission.

BTW, if I every over look someone I'm sorry it's hard for me to keep up on whats going on with who (I get confused easily), this is why I hadn't hung out in this thread much. But I really care about you guys so I'm going to try my best. :o

Debbie D 07-11-2008 08:15 AM

Wasn't that sky weird last night as the storms came into the Chicago area? My DH and I stood at the patio door and watched it roll in...I was glad for the rain; my lawn is getting more and more brown; trying not to sprinkle, since we're cutting back on expenses.
It's going to be a hot one in the midwest today....keep cool, all you midwesterners!!

NaeNae 07-11-2008 08:21 AM

Frank and Sandy...maybe you guys can start on the ark there and sail it down to me! Sun is out for the moment here...its been raining so much we can't mow, or the John Deere will need floaties but since we can't the grass has gotten so tall I won't let the kids out because I'm afraid of them getting snake bit!

On a funnier note....one of my moms cats got really curious about a large groundhog that lives on the back side of the pond...she sniffed around at it and the ground was havin none of it, then the cat ran over and crawled into the groundhogs den!! So then the ground hog went over and sat on it!!! The entrance I mean...Izzie was yowling like she'd been shot, I thought I was gonna pee my pants laughing. The minute the groundhog moved that cat shot up outta there like a rocket!

My mom and son are taking my grandfather into town for a tractor part today..so Olivia and I have a copule hours to ourselves (sigh)

Vonn07 07-11-2008 09:16 AM

hey all .. I'm getting that band of storms just north of Sandy/Jim, Frank/Debbie, Wiz & Barb ... (think that's everyone in the path right now) .. and Jenn is still a time-zone away ..

still no word from the place that said that I can 'move in' yet :Bawling:... but, it's raining anyways ... :rain: so, I'm just waiting :picknose:

first week of classes almost in .. well, better get cracking!! talk soon!

tkrik 07-11-2008 10:13 AM

Good morning all. I hope you midwesterners are all OK. Enough with the storms already! YIKES! Although I have not been in a tornado since 1974 (I think), I remember being petrified as we could see it coming, my parents were out of town, my brothers and sisters were all staying at different friends houses with the exception of my oldest brother - he was at home, and all I wanted was to be with all of them and not staying at my friends. My brother that was at home saw it as it ripped through the field/school/church across the street from our house. He was so, so lucky it didn't come on our side of the street.

NaeNae - That is funny! Certainly made me smile and laugh. Thanks!!! Enjoy your alone time with Olivia.

Vonn - Isn't just great to be in limbo like that? (I say that sarcastically). Did you offer to go down and take care of it yourself? LOL. I do hope that you hear good news today and that you can begin moving in. Saying prayers for you and sending good vibes your way.

Kay - Congratulations!!! Did you and DH celebrate? I know you have been waiting for this for a long time. Despite the hassles, long days, etc. you are now official and don't have to renew your Visa every 3 months or whatever it was. That was crazy. I am happy for you.

Holly - That sounds better. It is hard to find mechanics that you trust. DBF works right next to the mechanics I go to. They are great. Besides, they don't want to tick DBF off as they really like him and he does a lot of their body work on their cars. LOL.

MX7 - St. Maarten sounds good. It would probably be better than Mexico as there is quite a bit of turmoil down there.

I need to get busy here. Made a big "mistake" on a painting yesterday. I know, I know, there is no such thing as a mistake when painting. I just need to incorporate the little gel medium error and make it a point of interest.:p

I do hope you all have a good day.

Good morning all :) I still have 15 minutes left to say that - LOL.

Woke up late this morning. Slept for 12 hours last night. :eek: Think I overdid it a little yesterday.

Got a call a little while ago from NMSS. Just need to work some stuff out still, but looks like they'll be able to use my skills. :) Never volunteered before, so it should be fun.

As to the storms - ick. If you guys got it that bad, it's probably on it's way here. Another round of rain. Guess those in my area who were predicting that it was gonna be a dry summer from the get-go were wrong. Been in two tornado warnings, and it's always creepy when there's a storm with no wind.

Stay safe everyone and have a good day. :grouphug:
