It came today.

I made mandarin orange slices with carrots and a dash of honey.

Alan loved it.

I then followed instructions to make pasta. (Did you all see the video of the infomercial?)

Where the lady measures the pasta by putting it through the handles.

I couldn't fit my pasta through the handles. So I said 'what the heck, I know how much pasta to make".

So I took two handfuls of pasta and put it in the big thing.

I then followed instructions and poured the water in to Line No. 4. They give you a recipe booklet and you look up spaghetti and it tells you what line to fill the water up to.

Two handfuls of spaghetti equals water up to the No. 4. So I put in the water, I put on the lid and I put it in the microwave.

18 minutes. No boiling pots of water first. Just put in pasta and water, and put in microwave.

So after it's half cooked it tells you to stir the pasta. I did as instructed.

Here's where it gets interesting.

After 18 minutes, you are supposed to take it out and drain it (through the little holes on the lid, right?)

I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAVE TO LOCK THE LID!!! Who locks lids??

So I take the two pot holders, grab the two handles, bring it over to the sink, turn it upside down

AND ALL THE SPAGHETTI FELL INTO THE SINK!!!

I never laughed so hard in all my life.

I didn't tell Alan.

Thank god I have a clean sink. I just scooped up the spaghetti into another bowl, rinsed it out good. (it was fine, so you all can stop lauging).

I then poured in the sauce, and I'm telling you, once you know what you are doing with this thing, IT MAKES GREAT PASTA and lots of other stuff.

The recipe booklet has 50 recipes and some of them are cake CAKE!!! Can you imagine?

I will make a video as soon as I am able.

I just wanted to tell you that it made the best mandarin orange carrots I've ever seen and Alan LOVED them!!!

And the pasta comes out exactly as if you made it on the stove.

So no more pots.

JUST REMEMBER TO LOCK THE LID.

Actually it's kind of hard to snap it on, but once it's on, It's on!!!

But I'll find out the next time I make another batch of pasta.

But I will put my two fingers over the top so THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!

Mel

Curious:

Guess what I bought today? A brand new B D Digital Thermometer that is SUPPOSED TO BEEP. I had the $12.00 coupon.

With tax, I OWED THEM $.95 cents.

I said "what the h". Go for it"

I shall test it out tonight. I swear, if this thing doesn't beep, I give up on all thermometers.

First one cost me $6.99. Second one cost me $7.99.

this one was marked $11.99. Can you imagine that? for a stupid little digital thermometer?

I shall let you know if I have finally found one that beeps.
And yeah, I know I put this on THIS thread??

I mean, how much can I talk about pasta??

lol

No, the pasta doesn't need any temp taking.

But the guy who mailed it out forgot to include the cheese grater. (It indicated in the ebay auction that this thing includes a cheese grater). So I wrote to him. (nicely).

Now let's see if I get the cheese grater I was supposed to get. Not that I ever grate cheese, but what the heck!!!

I LOVE THIS THING!!

Ahhh...I get it now. My name is a sports reference but if you aren't a fan, you wouldn't know that. I'm from Boston so it's a Fenway reference!

For some reason, it takes hours for my posts to show up and maybe that's just until I get to 10 like posting links. Very frustrating....

Mel, thanks for the pasta laugh! Sounds like a neat pot. I'm not sure how much of a time saver that is at 18 mins because I'm not sure how long it takes to boil the water but I'm only boiling the pasta for about 10 mins once it goes into the pot and either way, it's still one item I have to wash. Tell me, am I missing something about this pasta pot, Mel?

Default Pampered Chef

My last post went up quickly...finally!

Mel, wanted to mention that Pampered Chef puts out a lot of great products but you're right, not cheap. Get what you pay for, a lot of times! I have a square baking pan that I make brownies in and a few of their gadgets. I need to get that steamer because I've wanted it for years, yet still haven't ordered it. I'd love to get rid of the stinking metal basket I've been using!

I'm ordering it today, if I remember.... I have a gift certificate!
