I'm still in my jammie-jams, and we just ate breakfast, lol!

we were up late last night, first, because of the election, and second, due to an invasion.

ANTS !!

bazillions and gajillions of them, tormenting the flock of hatchlings mercilessly...

I heard them cheeping frantically during the McCain concession speech, and quickly pulled on my armour (heavy socks, boots, and longjanes)

picture us out there in the pitch black night, at 11 pm, passing baby chickens hand to hand, from the nursery coop, to a rolling cage, and transporting them to safety, over in the big coop...

we took turns holding the kerosene lantern, and fending off Mother Goose (Glinda), who guards the chickens with her very LIFE, and was most certain we had nefarious plans for the babies!

it proved impossible to convince Glinda of our good intentions, so we just tried to be quick about the "airlift rescue operation"

anyway, the rescue was a success, but we sure are tuckered out this morning...

hubby hosed down the coop with pressurized water (can't use poison in a nursery!) and flooded out the massive nest (how DID they build that thing in one day flat?)

so, today is a day of well-earned rest!

Probably thought you were kidnapping (or ducknapping) her younggins! I don't know how you keep up with all the critters you have.....but I'm so glad they have you to care for them. They don't know how fortunate they are! :)

I think I have an election day hangover; no, I did not drink. I stayed up too late, and then had to get up at 6:30 to go to school.

I have my 6th month MRI tomorrow. I am driving myself, and I am not taking anything for anxiety this time. Wish me luck, please;) I want to do a little bookstore shopping and go out to lunch afterwards.

I'm hoping I get some sleep tonight. Tomorrow's the first night of the art show, and have to go over in the afternoon to set up.

Been busy the past week preparing for it a little at a time.

Aww, Kay, I didn't mean to make you feel guilty. At least you know how and have the ability to live off the land. If it were me there....I'd be over run with critters....not enough food to feed them or myself....and nobody would be happy!! :rolleyes: I think you and DH are doing a wonderful job not only for yourselves but for the animals, too.

Why am I awake so early??? And why are my two critters asleep in my bed now that they've had their breakfast??? I've lost all control here...:p :D!!

It's going to be another warm day here today....72 degrees. :mad: But cooler weather is predicted for the weekend and next week.

I think I'm going to go ahead and buy my Turkey and all the fixins' for Thanksgiving dinner today and get the perishables a day or two before. I'm still not sure how many people we're having for dinner that day....both boys have a couple of friends who have no family here and they've invited them over to eat with us. I just love Thanksgiving...it's my favorite holiday.
