Hi everyone! It's a cold and rainy day here in GA. I have no plans to get out in this mess. Maybe I'll dig out my Christmas decorations and start getting them put up. I have no idea when we'll put the tree up....first I have to figure out where I'll put it. The cats seem to want to climb it for the first couple of days it's up then they lose interest in it. Last year I had it in the living room next to the fireplace but it was sort of in the way. I think I may put it in the dining room in the corner. We can still see it but it's out of the way.

I have some house cleaning that needs to be done so I'll try and tackle that today. I've found it's so much easier if I do one "big" thing each day and not try and get everything done in one day. Today will be dusting.

Frank, I've gotten burned several times by picking up hot stuff with my right hand. Bad thing is....I can still feel the pain! It's crazy. My hand is numb and I can't tell if I'm holding anything or not but I can still feel pain. Guess that's good in a way. At least I won't be sticking it into the fire! :eek:

Whew...really late today, huh?:o

DD and fiance arrived last evening...ring is so pretty!!! He designed it...such a nice young man.
DD showed me pix of how he fixed her apartment when he asked her to marry him...unbelievable...sheets with pix and Bible verses (they're heavy-duty Christians)...pennies on the floor (he used to have her give him a penny and he would give her an encouraging thought before her soccer games...she was the goalie). white xmas lights up the stairs...and then a note telling her to drive to where they had their first kiss...her gas tank was on "E" ha ha...met him by the river...and he asked her...how romantic!!
So we're going to look at banquet halls today...got the route all planned. Uggh. I hate doing this, but I'm going to paste on the Happy Face and be a nice mom...

My darn spasms are really coming back...I dropped down from 3 prednisone to 2 3 days ago, and the spasms are more frequent and stronger each day...bummer...I was feeling so wonderful...I'm kind of depressed and crabby about it...I liked feeling normal...

Frank, did you tell the doc about this numbness? It's increased lately, hasn't it? You take care of yourself...you should probably buy little elf shoes with bells on the toes so that you can tell when you're moving your feet;);):p

awwwwwwww, you're such a sweetie, Frank!

the strange part is, in the US, I'd be considered poor, on SSDI and Medicare, barely making ends meet, relatively speaking.

it's all a matter of perspective... here in this village, I am wealthy!

compared to people with dirt floors, and thatch roofs, with chickens running through the house, an outhouse in back, and a passel of kids to feed... compared to that, I am wildly rich, with tiled floors, ceiling fans, bamboo furniture, and screens on my windows.

also, we have internet (only half-a-dozen houses do), and a TRUCK.

so, we give rides to people all the time, and trade our ducks for produce.

we've turned out to lousy farmers, can't grow veggies worth a darn, (the BUGS here are unbelievable !!)

:eek::rolleyes::eek:

but we seem to do really well at raising animals, and keeping the best to breed... (which many can't afford to do...)

we sell our eggs for 20% less than the store, (because they're not washed, or sorted by size), a flat is what we collect per day (30 eggs), and we can hardly keep any for breakfast the way they sell, like hotcakes!

we have no jewelry, or fancy cars, or TVs or stereos, or anything, just cheese-making, bread-baking, peanut-shelling, and critter-feeding, cruising along in the jungle.

anywayze, I do feel that my LIFE is "wealthy" in a slow-paced, non-materialistic kind of way.

and no, kiddies, I AIN'T a-writin' no book... nuh-uh !!

I manage to get through my chores, and then, it's hammock-time, swaying on the screened porch, gazing at my flocks, and dozing to the calls of songbirds.

:grouphug::hug::grouphug:

I DO miss my kids though...

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a decent Saturday. I ran some errands this morning --post office, drugstore, and grocery store so now I am tired. I have been reading the new Anita Shreve book. Do any of you read her? Now I think it is time for me to take a bit of a nap. When I get up I need to dust and run the sweeper. Do you say "vacuum" or "run the sweeper?" I think that run the sweeper is an Eastern Ohio/western Pa thing. I also say bag instead of sack.

Vonn07 11-29-2008 03:06 PM

hey Barb ... sounds like a good day to kick back ... and I 'vacuum' ... and drink from a bubbler ...

btw ... can we see the bracelets you are making??? ;)

tamiloo 11-29-2008 03:44 PM

I vacuum and I live in the west, but I also bag.

I haven't felt to hot today but gotta get feeling better...shopping. Need some food. The family is slowing down on the leftovers. Gotta go get my drugs too before the drug store closes.

We go just a little dusting of snow on the mountains last night. I can't wait for the big one!! The Olhipie is going nuts waiting for the snow!!!

my balance wasn't good enough last time I tried, in 1995.

I managed to get on the T-bar lift, and ski down the Bunny slopes with my kids, and that was satisfying enough!

:cool::D:cool:

I'd love to try it the Olhippie way, but hey, it never snows here.

;):winky:;)

tamiloo 11-29-2008 04:17 PM

Yup thats the Olhipie...he got a late start this last year not going until the end of February. That's why he is watching the weather everynight to see when we might get ours. The resort near us usually doesn't open until late in December...no snow yet...:(
