I don't think so...at least not right now. I think I remember hearing something about her once being married years ago.

I think the woman has a mental problem.

:o K, off my soapbox with that one.

ROFL @ myself. I didn't mean zero population, I meant zero population growth, heh.

Okay, now I'm even more confuseder. I thought "zero population control" meant that you do not support the government intervening in private family decisions.

Your edit says that you meant that you support "zero population growth"? So, you support the government mandating how many kids per family/capita/license? Like China?:confused::confused:

We might need another thread!

The Chinese gov't says you can only have two kids. I think Zero population growth is 0 or 2 kids - to replace yourselves but you're not dead so no kids I guess. No gov't involvement here is USA that I know about. Have 14 if you want!!!!!

She was married before to Marco Gutierrez who she met in college. I read that they were married for 12 years but it didn't work out. She couldn't get pregnant.

well - that surely changed for her - by the way - in the 60's zero population growth meant that a couple should only have two children - that was political correctness in the Age of Aquaris - now you can have as many children as you and your village can raise -according to the current thinking - that may change soon -

She had been married, as already posted; she has some type of tube blockage or something (which her father and Dr. Mehmet Oz discussed a bit on "Oprah") and, thus, had embryos harvested and frozen and, subsequently, implanted.

I don't support the government mandating how many children we should have....but at some point common sense has to prevail....although it appears that this woman has none. In a situation like this, where the government is going to be footing the bill for a majority of the care (meaning me and you ) I believe they should have some say in the outcome. **taking cover before the glass bottles start flying......**

I'll probably be sorry, but here goes:

In a perfect world, common sense prevails. In an imperfect world, the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children--and the taxpayers.

There is no law against being mentally ill, lacking good sense, or simply being stupid. There is no law against making bad decisions. The "law" intervenes when the bad choices result in abuse or neglect.

An unfit parent, as judged by the welfare and/or legal system, should (when all other measures to help fail) have his/her child removed to a home where adequate care is provided.

That should be the case whether the parent has one child or twenty-seven. Whether "we" are paying for their care or not.

I would hate to see an America where law dictates how many children are "too many"...fourteen? four? I would hate to see an America where law dictates that you can't have children if "we" have to support them. No one on welfare...or disability...should have children? What if someone has six kids, loses employment, and then we're supporting them? Take the children away?

Maybe it could have been determined when she was a teenager that this sad, pathetic woman would make bad choices and dump a zillion dollars worth of child care on the taxpayers...should we have demanded that she be sterilized??

How far should we go to ensure that we don't have to pay for people's bad judgment? Should Medicare have refused to pay for my father's care for COPD because he smoked? Should we peek into people's shopping carts if they're using food stamps to ensure they aren't illegally purchasing Pringles?

How sad that this woman's dubious mental stabililty has become a three-ring circus. Shame on the doctor who agreed to a procedure that was so destined for disaster. Our advanced scientific skills and this doctor's misuse of them have created a problem that has only bad solutions.

I'm as appalled by this situation as anybody. I'm appalled by the single, unemployed young woman down the road from me that already has two kids by two guys she wasn't married to and now wants "just one more baby" because she just LOVES babies, so she and her FORMER boyfriend will have one. Her two kids run amok while she sits in the apartment smoking and watching movies. I, the taxpayer, am paying for her apartment and her frozen pizzas, and it makes me furious. But should it be illegal?

Pray for these fourteen innocent children, and the countless others in similar, yet not so newsworthy, situations. May our judgment be tempered with compassion. And God have mercy on us all.

Kitt 03-02-2009 09:55 AM

Yup, that's what I saw.

And the doctor is very much at fault in my view as to his participation in the whole mess. No ethics there it seems. Other doctors have said countless times that they would never do such a thing. They have their ethics and stand by them.

Didn't she say that the doctor implanted six each time for the other six? And only one was born except for the twins in those six? I believe she said she thought that she would only have one or maybe two this time when she got the eight.
