The side effects of ALL steroids can be tough, but they are preferable to DEATH that occurs without their use in the case of respiratory distress.

Similar to......there is a risk of death with the anesthesia during any surgery. Was Michael Jackson stupid to take anesthesia to get a good night's sleep ? Yup ! If I need an angioplasty because I am having a heart attack, I'm not going to worry about the risk of anesthesia.

If your daughter needs steroids to breathe because of an exacerbation of CF, she NEEDS them......there really isn't any alternative.
