Thank you legal mania, Z, I really appreciate all you did for me. You gave me an opportunity to tell how difficult it is with these agiencies. You were also correct in what you told me in advance of my hearing. Even though this home is in trust to me and paid for by my and my parents, the social secrity dissability puts a value on your home and lodging. There is a statute they follow no matter the individual circumstances. My trust definately did not get looked at. So now I am paying my son back for my taxes. The rule that you cannot have more than $1,000 does not apply evidently. I was abiding by that rule. so when my taxes came due, my son had to pay. The house is his anyway when I die or leave this house. I now have to pay my son rent to pay back for taxes on a home I do not own. They will not allow someone to pay for your taxes,and or rent. There is a value placed on anything. I was able to aquire my food stamps back, by paying my son rent. The whole this is ridiculas in my estimation. I was given this home, and evidently I will have to go to my congressman for justice. Why is it exactly that the SSDI wants to keep you in poverty? Why can't a family member help without penality? Why must I pay for this home over again exactly? This seems contrary to what the terms and conditions of what my folks trust wanted for me. I do not receive enough to live here and pay utilities much less for rent. That is why my house was paid for to begin with/ The whole thing is really out there. thanks for trying. ginnie

I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease and my doctor also found problems with my knees back in Feb. 2009. I have a total of 8 herniated discs and S1 nerve impingement and facet athropathy in the lumbar region. Finally I had a hearing in late April. I hired an attorney and things seemed to go pretty well. The vocation expert could not name a job that would allow for my limited mobility or not being able to sit for more than 45 mins.

But it is annoying that the Judge may take 2-4 months to make a decision. And now I am hearing that if you DO win you have to wait an additional 5 months before getting your benefits ??

Being in constant pain is bad enough but with the cost of living on the rise and my husband unable to find work ... the constant 'not knowing' just makes it worse.And since I live in Arizona I am on their form of Medicaid called AHCCCS and the governor is trying to cut benefits to childless couples (like myself). That would mean that I would no longer be able to afford my thyroid and high blood pressure meds unless my disability comes through.

I guess all I can do is wait and wait some more.

But thanks for allowing me to vent.

well your at the right place to "vent".first llike to say welcome .glad you found us.we all here are going thru like what your going thru.i have been out of work to since2009 to.i also cant sit more than 45min like you.my case is being appealed.but just want to let you know that any time you have a question or want to talk were here to listen.oh by the way this section of the forum here was started by me and a real kind person by the name of "Legalmania".if it werent for her we all be lost and deperate here

All I can go by is my experiences. My wife was approved on the spot after several years of rejections. When she was approved and I'm pretty sure it will apply to you also she received her medicare and monthly SSDI check very quickly, with-in a couple and or few weeks. As far as waiting 2-4 months is a stretch I think. I've heard of 2 month waits but never 4 months. As far as my wife's 3.5 year back pay that took sometime, almost 7 months from her approval date because SS was hanging it up to make sure she did not collect SSI to see if she owed money in which she didn't. Hope this helps. I realize the wait and unknown is overbearing but it sounds like you will be approved.

It took me three years to get my SSDI approval but I received my back pay and the backpay for my children pretty quick. I think it was no more than three weeks. The good Lord above knew how long I had to wait for my approval and had mercy on me so He moved the back payments right along.

Hang in there. I know it's hard but keep the faith.

That is wonderful! Not wonderful that it took three years but wonderful because you finally got it! I dont know what I will do if I am denied. Im in no shape to return to work. It make me panickey just imagining it. I wouldnt be able to survive financially/emotionally/mentally. I hoping to hear something soon. The DDS examiner just called me to go over my past work history. Every time they call me it brings on another bout of panic and worry about why they are asking the question they are asking.

Its soothing to hear that people are actually getting approved.

It's not going to be depleted. Just fear mongering and jockying by some to move trillions to Wallstreet for profit.

I haven't heard about that. Why are you stressing out over something that may happen seven years from now? Maybe it's due to your condition but please try not to stress about it. I'm not going to worry about something that may happen so far into the future. I try my best to take each day as it comes and when I lay down at night I thank God for bringing me through that day

It was wonderful to hear the judge say that I was approved. After being denied twice and waiting so long for my hearing I was happy to hear those words. Funny thing is that my hearing only lasted about 20 minutes. I believe he already made up his mind before my hearing began which is a little irritating because he had the exact same information that the Examiners denied me twice on. Pretty much led me to believe that I should have been approved the first time I filed. Oh well, as the saying goes...better late than never

When did you file? I never received any phone calls from Social Security during my claim. How many times have they called you?

It's natural to worry but try not to worry to the point that it makes you even worse.
