it is very frustrating not being able to talk about politics in a topic , social security disability, where politics is everything to it, from staffing levels to handle claims, to the number of alj's, to degree of difficulty to get on ssdi, to congress people who should be contacted to look into a delay in claim or payment,to cost of living increases, to potential or advocated cuts, ad infinitum. these are all political decisions. this particular section of neuro talk should have the no politics rule eased.

She said "They have to send us the checks, it's against the law if they don't, don't you know that?" No I didn't know that, but I'm certainly going to look into that. lol Melody

You can discuss most of those things without it getting political or biased. The difficulty arises when certain political parties or members of such, or the president starts to get blamed personally. Some members may agree on something, but others might have a totally differing viewpoint - that's when the issues arise. We've been through all this and have seen the problems come up many times, so we just prefer very limited discussion on Politics for peace & harmony on the main pages of the site. ![]() We do have the Social Group sections available where there is a more open format for deeper discussion. We suggested using it during the last election and it worked well. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/group.php You can even start your own group if the others don't fit for what you want to discuss.

During the 08 elections, we relaxed the rules for a while and there were battles on many forums where those who are usually friends were going for each other and our inbox full of reported posts for flaming etc. So again, discussing the politics of the issue is not prohibited....it is becoming *partisan*, disrespecting a specific politician or party, or potentially starting a political argument that is not ok

I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer for. Maybe one of you can tell me:
Where is it specified what doesn't get paid 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., if the country defaults on its debts? In other words, why are SS, SSI, veterans etc first to go? Why not congressional salaries? White House staff salaries? ALL federal salaries cut 50%? Huh? ![]() |
