Hey everyone, I'm new to this site as of, well, today! I thought I'd give this a shot before I go to my doc. Well, I'm 19 and hurt my back two years ago from dancing. I got diagnosed with spondylolisthesis of my L4/5 S1 a few months after i started getting back pain. I went through pain meds, physical therapy, injections, facet join inj., radio frequency ablasion (having my nerves burned) and nothing helped. Some docs wanted me to get a fusion but i refused because im so young. So I went down the Spinal Cord Stimulator route. I got the permanent SCS implanted on Feb 6 of this year (from advanced bionics) everything has been good, with a little bit of pain on the incision in the middle of my back probably due to scar tissue.
The Problem: A few days ago I noticed a pain where my leads go from the battery pack at the bottom left side of my back to the center of my back where the second incision is... it hurts to touch the leads and to sit back on it... I'm thinking it's just some adhesion around the leads but I don't know if it's serious or not. It's really uncomfortable... you can see where the leads go from the battery pack to the center incision..and when you touch them or anywhere around them its really sore...any advice!?!? |

I'd call the doc. "Pain" is something I'd take as a sign something isn't quite right. It's better that a doctor have the opportunity to take a look-see and help discern what's going on.
Please let us know. ![]()

I would also call your doc (if you are still around).
When that developed with my scs...it didn't get better, but got worse with time, and didn't resolve until the battery was removed. Apparently this can be one of those potential negative side effects with the SCS. I still have pain/burning at the incision between the shoulder blades, and it has been seven years since it was removed. Get it looked at. My mistake was to believe it was something I had done wrong, or that I was just paying too much attention to the problem. |

I've also had a scs implant Feb 3, 09 for my back and have had only mild discomfort. As the months have past it has resolved itself. I suggest you go back to you Dr. you may have a infection and should get it check out. You should not be having this much pain and discomfort at this late date. Take Care Donna from AZ

Has anybody else been diagnosed with aracnoiditis ? I have never heard of it before and whenever I ask anybody if they have herd of it, they never heard of it either. I looked it up on the net and it said it was cronic back pain condition with no cure. One neuro surg told me I would just have to learn to live with the pain. I did some more searching on the net and found spinal cord stimulators. I had my impland on Feb 3, 09 and have been pain free. The stimulator is on 24/7 and has given me my life back. If you have a odd diagnoses don't give up do your homework, the internet is a great tool. It allowed me to take a salution to my Dr. that was never offered to me before. Take Care All Donna from AZ
