Oh, I'll try to give you short version of the past few days.

They don't know what the spot on her lung is but said they will scan it again in 3 months to see if it's grown.

Well...okay then.

Her doc this morning asked her if she was in a lot of pain. Mom has been constantly moaning and groaning with each breath. I've noticed it's always worse when one of us comes in the room. She told the doc, no, the pain right now is okay. So doc asked her why are you moaning and groaning then instead of breathing properly? Mom said well, I'm so uncomfortable (in a tiny whining voice). So the doc told her Muriel, no more groaning and moaning. You need to expend that energy on good deep breathing instead.

So, she's done it today.

But more so since they found out (which I warned dad) that they are getting to a close on her immediate injury needs. She's off the fentanyl and the only thing left is the dextrose (?) IV. Doc told them today medicate won't pay for her to be in physical therapy section of hospital and her only choice is a nursing home.

Well she had a fit. Since then, she got up with help and took four steps. (The fractured pelvis is killin her.) Sits on the edge of her bed to eat. Stopped moaning and groaning. But I think it will be a matter of a few days now that they'll keep her so dad has to look in to getting her into one of very few nursing homes here. But it will only be paid for for 20 days.

WTF? Well, Iowa ranks really low on the totem pole for services for poor and elderly so I'm not surprised.

Anyway, that's the short of it, lol.

Thank you and they thank you for your prayers and good wishes.

It sounds like she is improving Doody...long road back at her age.
And I don't think Indiana is one bit better about paying...
sending you all positive thoughts and some prayers.

Dear doody, I don't think I really need to say this but I am going to anyway. Please make sure that family are a very big presence and don't be afraid to be demanding. It is important for her to get the best care. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so to speak. Also, be sure to ask your mom, descreetly, how she is being treated, especially at night. She might be afraid to tell you if she is being mis-treated. I have seen this happen too much. I don't want to scare you, I just know that if you know ahead of time, it can help things to go more smoothly for mom. love you lots and you are in my prayers....

Thanks Mistiis, but not to worry. Without going into my life since a child, my dad is extremely panic and anxiety ridden. He's paying to stay in the room with her. He won't even drive anywhere alone.

She is sitting in her wheelchair a bit more rather than laying in bed all the time.

I ran back and forth getting things for them because nursing homes don't provide anything but the bed and a nightstand. This one anyway. I still am trying to find a cheaper small TV for them. There is only 1 TV in the community room.

Even though her arm was shattered, it's the pelvis that causes her pain, so I'm glad she is getting up and taking a few steps even if it is to the wheelchair. And thankfully it's her left arm as she is right handed.

SweetDoody family

Lots of prayers being sent.

Geting out of the hospital, where I'm sure she was getting no rest, is a good thing. Easier for your dad to be there visiting too.

How are you holding up?
