Default High School Reunion

DH and I attended my 40th high school reunion in Canton, Ohio this weekend. I had a great time. He was a bit bored (not knowing anyone except two of my friends), but I put him in charge of taking pictures.

I graduated in 1969, so this was my 40th reunion!! There were 60+ graduates who came out of about 125 who graduated with me.

The first picture is of DH and me, Julie, Frank, Barb and her DH, and Minette and her DH. They have all kept in touch with me since we graduated through phone calls and letters, then the Internet. However, I hadn't seen Frank since graduation, and I hadn't seen Barb in 20 years, so it was grand to see them and visit.

The next day, a handful of us went to lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise. We spent two hours there laughing and talking and having a wonderful time.

I'm so glad we made the effort to go!

Congratulations! It looks like you had a lot of fun.

I avoided mine when it came around. I'm glad you went and had a good time, your husband was a champion to be the photographer. :-) give him a for being such a good boy.

Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that you were in high school? It always amazes me how fast time flies.

You're lucky that you had good enough experiences in high school that you'd go to the reunions.

I'll never attend any of my high school reunions. I'm still traumatized by the abuse the other students gave me at both high schools I attended. Too bad those students had to be such <bad words> to me that I refuse to have anything to do with them now.

My dad just recently went to his 50th high school reunion (would last fall be considered "recent"?) He said he had a great time. He took pictures of everyone, emailed the pictures to the girl who would have been taking the pictures if she'd remembered her camera, and she got all the photographs organized for people who wanted copies. She even had them printed out for everyone and didnt even take any money for them (it was a class of 90 people, and I think just less than half showed up)

At least my parents went to schools that had civilized students attending with them. By the time I got to high school (late 1980s) something had changed in the world and kids in high school were only slightly more civilized than a prison riot. (I wonder if the guy in high school who did something <not too horrible, but bad enough> to me that I had to report him to the vice principal for is on any sexual offenders lists yet? I should go google his name)

I went to the first two or three of mine. I will not go to them anymore - ever. The people I cared about have all passed away. My very best friend died from cancer at the age of 38. I miss her dearly. You only have maybe two "really good friends" in this world. Others were killed in car accidents or died from health problems. The rest I could care less if I never saw them again.

No school was not that fun at all I'm glad I don't have to do that again.

Oh Kitt, I'm so very sorry about your friends. I guess I'm truly lucky to have basically healthy friends who are all 58. We've all been through so much together, with divorces and kid problems, that I think it has all conspired to keep us closer than we normally would have been.

Hugs to you, Kitt. And, I don't blame you for not going to your reunions, I wouldn't either.

Thanks, Sally.

Monty has been kind of upset with me because I've been making him wear his gentle leader, which he doesn't like. He's been pulling too much, and with the gentle leader he doesn't pull. However, he does try to rub it off. Not as much as he did at first, but still sometimes.

He gives me these looks like "get this ----- thing off of me, now! Please." Poor baby.

Of course, he was a hit at the reunion. Everyone made sure to come by and see him, then they had to talk to me!

Thank you. And the ones who died that I cared about, died relatively young. It's good that you still have your good friends. People are just gone too soon sometimes. Thanks again.

It's great to hear about your fun reunion! I had my 20 year back in 2007 and also had a great time! It was fun to see how everyone had changed.

I wonder what the future ones will be like now that I've connected with many of my classmates on facebook! The excitement and anticipation of going to the reunion party was to see and talk with those I don't have access to - now I can find out what they are up to every time I login..........Hmmmmm not sure what I feel about that
