Heart Happy News!

I know I don't hang out here as much lately, but I just wanted to share some happy news . . .

After 15 years together, my partner and I are finally going to become legal spouses! About 2 years ago Washington State voters approved, and the governor signed, a measure to grant same-sex marriage. We got our license on May 22, picked out rings on May 23, and will be getting married in a little forest house at the base of Mount Rainier on June 14. My daughter, son-in-law, and our two grandchildren will witness. Hopefully it won't rain that week-end and we will be able to get up the next morning, have some breakfast, and take them on up to Paradise Visitor Center to play in the snow!

I just pray that my symptoms don't get wacky on me from all the excitement, that we don't get a hot spell that week, and because I also deal with Crohn's, that I don't eat anything that causes me issues.

Our one remaining issue is whether or not to hyphenate our last names. Being as we share the same first name -- Deb -- it might be a little confusing to the rest of the world!

Congratulations! It sounds like a beautiful way to celebrate your marriage. I too hope the weather is fantastic that day and that your Crohn's and/or MS do not flare up during that time. You'll have to post pictures of the big day.

Congratulations. If the two have you have weathered all the storms for so long, you will be able to figure out what to do with your last names.

Thank you, everyone!

Almost everything is squared away except my "expression" during the vows. I found the perfect "wedding dress" . . . a natural cotton crinkle gauze summer dress, with a handkerchief hem, at a bargain price. Aren't outlet stores wonderful? (I had started stressing over what I was going to wear, and this looks better on me than anything I was considering! You know how that takes some of the stress out of a day?) I decided if we were going this far I might as well be a beautiful bride in white . . . I have already discovered that I will probably blubber through the ceremony anyway! I can't read any of the ceremony aloud without tearing up! And she wants our favorite song included . . . I am so doomed!
