Aww thanks for asking.
Jack has been painful and is back on pain injections. It breaks my heart to see him struggle. He is certainly better on the injections, but of course now he views me as the deliverer of a new source of pain and upset. He will stay on injections about every 8 to 12 hours for the next 2 days. I love this kitty so much, I just sometimes wonder if I did him any favors by keeping him here. We have to fix this before he can have any quality of life. The vet swears he will get better. Thanks for asking. its been an emotional day about it for me.

Jack is off his pain meds. He still takes the elavil cream in his ear each day. He is eating, playing, and even cuddling. Its starting to feel like we are over this hump. He is eating prescription foods exclusively now, and seems dramatically more comfie. He wanted to drop in and say TYVM for all the hugs and prayers, but he is going to go nap now. isnt he cute?

Awwww.....bless his heart! He's adorable! Looks very much like my Tigger.
I'm so glad he's doing better. He's had a rough road and deserves to feel good. Give him a kiss for me and tell him Tigger says to take it easy. He's sitting here on my computer table watching the blue jays eat the dry cat food in the backyard!

I'm glad he is better. Wow what an ordeal... I won't adopt a male because of this trauma potential for them after a neuter.
That Elavil cream is interesting... can you ask if it is a vet product or do they have a compounding pharmacy make it up? My son's rescue female was given the tablets and they made her almost comatose. She'd sit and stare off in space and not be able to move her legs or anything!

The elavil is a prescription that is sent to the compounding pharmacy who makes a cream out of it. Jack is HORRIBLE at taking pills. I consider myself to be a champion cat piller and WOW he is tough! I think its because he is such a big kitty, and a big baby.
He is feeling dramatically better. Lily is grateful that her playmate is back up and ready to rock.

Thanks, that makes sense....
I'll tell my son if he needs it again! His rescue came with lots of problems, which seem okay now --knock on wood. I understand about the pilling. I mixed ground up tablets in whipped cream for Oreo, and she eats it right up. Also I have used tuna oil (from the can) for antibiotics in the past. Oily food coats the tongue and they can't taste the drug typically. It takes some finesse...give a tiny bit mixed up and follow with a chaser. I think I used ice cream in the past too... But Oreo will take the whipped cream easily. I put Clavamox in that for her 3 yrs ago.

Jack refuses all table foods. He wont eat whipped cream, milk, bacon, or other yummy things. He will eat tuna, but only licks the juice and leaves the tuna behind. Lily on the other hand will take a finger off if you offer her bacon.
Jack is on a fish free diet now. its rumored (not proven) that fish based diets make his condition worse, and its the only thing I havent tried in this whole mess. He is on a prescription diet now, but its chicken and turkey based. Last prescription diet was fish based and he still got sick. I really need to end this nightmare for us all. He is smacking his head against the slider window because the snow flakes are falling fast and he thinks he can catch one.
