I tried using Burt's Bees shampoo but didn't like the way it made my hair smell. I can't describe it....but I didn't like it.
The sulfates and other chemicals in shampoo and other hair products do a number on my hands. They really don't seem to bother my scalp but my hands hate the chemicals. Since I am always at home and really don't go many places on a regular basis I might give the "no-poo" a try. I might not make it, though. If my hair feels the least bit dirty I will cave in and wash it. ![]() I'm like you, Tricia. The cost of the Wen is about my grocery budget for a week! ![]()

well POO! if it has silicone, then its a fake bounce, and shine....hmmm....must look this stuff up. I have been so busy today! The folks at church went all gaga at my bouncy shiny, curly hair. it always feels good when folks pay you compliments after a long hard week of being disrespected, no?
I am not sure I could do the ACV or apple cidar vinegar rinse. I may do the white stuff, and stick a cinamin stick and pure vanilla in the rinse, cause that would make my hair smell great. Bet the bugs would love me in the am walk. Since I have 2 bottles of WEN I will keep using it and see how it goes, but if it has silicone, then I wont reorder. I have such a sensitive scalp and so many allergies to chemicals that normal shampoo makes my head raw, and sore. I have to do something different. Thanks for the advice, links, and info. I knew this would be the right crowd to ask.

One of the issues I am running into is my sensitive scalp. SLS or sodium laryl sulfate or sodium lariyth sulfates really hate me. its the same stuff they use to degrease garage floors. We are all so addicted to lather and foamy stuff that we demand more and more of it, which means more and more chemicals to make that happen. My hair nomally has a nice shine to it, but once my scalp goes sideways it can be really sore, and loads of pimple type things start growing, and become even more sore. I find to use sulfate free products help, but even they have been causing me distress lately. I admit WEN is pricey! even for me! btw I have been saving about 40% of my weekly budget for food with coupons, so I felt like a treat, and always wanted to try this stuff. Maybe gluten free is the way to go. I think next time out I will look at Dove products. I didnt realize till recently that shampoo has gluten in it. DD uses dish soap to wash hers, but she is young and age is so forgiving. I have warned her that as she heads towards 30 the damage is going to be excessive and she should consider something else.

Again, keep us updated on how it is going. Maybe I will have to start a little "fund" for these kinds of treats. I do save all my change in a bucket but am saving it for emergencies. But, when I save at the grocery store or something like that I could start putting that money aside. ![]() |
