Amy I'm sorry. I too wake to cramps and toe curling with pain. Mrs D said to try rub on Magnesium lotion, CVS has it, it helps. But you need help now.
I'll list some things I do, maybe something will help.

Massage them, stand on a cold floor, or try heat, rub in anything with menthol in it..Vicks, Mineral Ice, vibration a machine-hand-held one, to change the sensation, foot-bath soak in Epsom salts, wrap in tight stockings to knee or thigh, are they cold?-warm them with socks.

If I walk a lot during the day with different shoes, slippers, it stretches the muscles the change in shoes, etc.

**Try some stretching exercises. Put your foot out away from you, and then pull back easy to have toes face you and hold. Do this a few times or have someone do it for you. **

Stretch out the muscles slowly and do all easy. Maybe just toward you and hold. Manually uncurl the toes with hands. It hurts and the day after too. The after pain. You may need Magnesium or Potassium pills. Have them checked by your dr.
Sorry.

I was out of my mind! Crying and frustrated beyond belief. I stretched, rubbed, cried, walked around on my tippy toes, etc. I couldnt sit or lay down because they would warp into strange positions in their own, then my calves got involved. Im staying at my moms place for awhile since me and dh are divorcing, and I dont know what she has here (of course she was out for the evening) so the only things I could think of qas to take my trazodone and hope I fall asleep! Wahhhhh!
I have never had this happened for this length of time before! It was horrible. I just woke up snd I feel like I have been run over by a mack truck. My muscles are so sore. I still feel like crying, but am glad the trazodone kicked I and knocked me out for the night.
Thanks you for your ideas and concern......I really felt alone last night during this episode and it really hit me hard.

Hope that never happens to you again! I haven't had as much experience with muscle spasms as some folks here have, but I've had enough to know I'd do almost anything to make it not happen!!

I have to be really careful not to have blankets tight over my toes when I lie on my back, or they cramp up like crazy. Once my toes cramped up, and when I yanked my foot up to try to rub out the cramp, my thigh muscle spasmed. Hurt so bad I nearly barfed. Holy cow.

Are you taking any meds for it? (Sorry if that's a repeat question)
