Wow, our crocuses are still covered by a layer of snow and ice. I'm afraid if I uncovered them, the next blizzard will freeze the life out of the poor little things!
I can't wait for spring to come! Maybe we all need to start posting pictures of flowers and blooming trees and shrubs! BTW, the rabbits have gone hogwild with my little lilac bush in the backyard. Every time it snows, you can see their fresh trail out there and a well-trodden path surrounding the shrinking shrub. I doubt I'll ever get blooms again if we don't do something about our evergrowing rabbit population out in the yard. I'm thinking about having the deck removed and replacing with a brick patio since they live underneath. Also, I'm going to trim the bottom branches of all the evergreens they use for shelter. I think this might have some effect on their growth. The blasted wabbits! Our surrounding neighbors all have dogs, so that might limit their nesting abilities somewhat.

I love spring, it's the hot, humid summer I don't like! Here's a picture my dh took Sunday. The Texas Bluebonnets are starting to bloom in some places...won't be long they will be everywhere!

Now how's a Gazelle supposed to get up into a tree house, Holly and Brain? <dang humans, they certainly don't understand us four footed creatures> But if you outfit that thing with a ramp, I'll gladly come enjoy the view with ya!
Ewizabeth, are you sure that the rabbits won't burrow under the brick? I'd be a bit hesitant to jump into the replacement without first doing a bit of investigation of that issue. Maybe there's a way to screen out the rabbits from the bottom of the deck--can you put a skirting around it with a backing of chicken wire that extends down into the earth a bit to prevent them from burrowing under it? It'd probably be cheaper than putting in brick. FlyFishin, daffs are remarkably resiliant. I'd believe that they'll come out of it just fine--and the crocus shoots too. Crocuses are usually pretty early. You often see photos of them in snow.

This pic sent me right to a search engine. There I discovered that the Texas Bluebonnet is a lupine! So now I have a question. Is it a plant that grows tall of does it stay low to the ground? The reason I am asking is we have lupines here in Maine and ours are giants! Here I thought a Bluebonnet was a pretty little flower that looked...well...like a bonnet! Now I find the romantic vision in my head is a lupine!! Either way...BEAUTIFUL pic and so evocative of summer for us Mainahs! Ours come in blue and pink and white and purple and they are everywhere, usually about two feet tall or more and very showy. (P.S. Working here, 1:30 a.m eastern...and it is SNOWING and freezing cold! I am soooooooooooo ready for spring! )

Sorry to hear about the snow and cold. It's cool here too...47 lol Glad you liked the picture. What I found about the Bluebonnet is that they grow about 1 to 2 feet tall and are not found naturally anywhere else but in Texas. There are some new colors, red (more of a pinkish) and white now but I haven't seen them yet.
