I'll update as soon as I talk with the doctor. I think I may have to give Jim a nerve pill before he speaks to him. ;)

Cindy and everyone going to the gtg. I am sorry but as you can guess, Jim and I wont be there. I know you all understand. I didn't think I would make it anyway because Nik needed me but now with Jim's condition in the air, it's for sure. I was going to come up with Nik and surprise you all if we had enough time. :( I am sorry.

Sandy,

If you have to take Jim to Kish, don't see Dr. Johnson!!!
Dr. Burstein is ok, but watch him for excessive testing. Dr. Bux is new, don't know much about him.

I hope you can find a doctor who'll solve this mystery and Jim will have some relief from the infections.

Hi Sandy,
I'm sorry to hear Jim has another UTI. I hope he feels better soon. I also hope it turns out that your Mom doesn't have Myasthenia Gravis.

Only we folks would appreciate this, Sandy:

Let's have a toast to -
(1) clear pee
(2) time off
(3) a massage
(4) free housecleaning for a week
(5) uninterrupted sleep for 8 hours
(6) friends

Hang in there.

-Vic & DW

Is it OK to say I hate UTI's and bladders? Jim and I are so tired of getting no answers. We both decided today that we are going out into the civilian world and getting a second opinion on his condition. Enough is enough. :ranting:

Now my mom may have this thing called MG. I know we have a forum here and will definitely utilize it if her blood work comes back positive for it.

Nik's car broke down and he's riding without a strut and needs me to help move him out of the dorms. Oh, and Jim's doctor may admit him for 7-10 days for IV antibiotics. Ummm, hello, anyone heard of home health care? ARGHHH. Oh, yeah, he can have that as long as I come in to be trained on it and Jim gets a pic line. I guess my 13 years of drawing blood, putting in IV's and flushing pic lines wasn't training enough. :ranting:

Thanks for listening.

Anyone else need to vent about something? Feel free to go at it!

OMG! You gave the perfect definition of the phrase, "when it rains, it pours." I am so sorry it is pouring right now. Hang in there. Sending you lots of prayers, warm wishes, and cyber:hug::hug::hug::hug:'s.

We spoke to the doctor today and Jim has ecoli which is treatable with oral antibiotics (Cipro). We are still waiting on the final report which looks to be growing another bacteria. Jim spoke with the doctor about getting a second opinion and he seemed OK with that. His main concern is to get someone who is familiar with spinal cord patients. We had to tell him we aren't breaking up with him...lol He almost seemed sad for us but we reassured him this is just for urology. All of Jim's ms care will still be through the veteran's hospital and through him. I guess we can't complain if he's sad to see us go somewhere else but he's not a urologist and since the VA urologist discharged Jim, we need to move forward. Plus the driving monthly or twice a month four hours round trip is taxing on us. Jim already went through kidney failure once and it was because his UTI's were not taken seriously. I can't let that happen again.

So, today I sent off the release of Jim's medical records and all radiologies since January 2000. They said they have ten days to get them out to us. The new urologist wants us to drop off the records and cd's a week prior to Jim's appointment so he can become familiar with his case. The doctor's name is Dr. David Sobel and he's through Provena Mercy Center. If we can't see him we will try Dr. C. Smith. Both have great backgrounds. Dr smith seems to have the most patients and hospitals he attends to. Dr Sobel is affiliated with only one. Anyone hear of either one of these doctors? Wiz?

I hope this urologist is an answer to your (and ours) but most importantly Jim's prayers.

Has he ever had the nerve stimulator implant? A friend of mine who also has MS has it and it helps her out a lot. She was hesitant at 1st but is so glad she got it.

No he's never had that tk. Never even heard of it. See? This is what I am talking about. I am scared and worried that we missed out on a better alternative for Jim by not seeing an outside urologist. The va is great for neuro though, can't knock them on that at all.

Well, maybe this IS the 1st step to answered prayers. That would be awesome.

I mean really how much cranberry juice can 1 man drink in a day to help fight UTI infections. LOL (The do have a pill form now - saw it in a pamphlet at my urologists. I think it was by prescription only.)
