Anne, the big quake that they were talking about this week was in Southern Cali. Your friend would be safe in Sacremento. Now if it were in San fran I dont know.

All is well!

I emailed my friend and she emailed me back.

She's not overly concerned at the moment, but she has all of her emergency supplies in readiness just in case.

Thank you for pre-warning me about this. I do hope and pray that an earthquake doesn't eventuate.

Glad to hear she is ok Anne!

Building my emergency supplies. THis morning I ordered a hand crank radio. THey say its important because if power is out and batteries run out. THe cool thing is it has an option to poew cell phones by the hand crank.

OK moving onto the rest of the kit. Been doing a google search and they have all sorts of kits for earthquakes, hurricanes and even terrorism (that one includes duct tape - thinking good X-mas gift for our Twiffy)

I live so far away that it worries me sick when one of my "on line" buddies is threatened by storms, tornadoes, earthquakes and the like.

I received and e-mail from a friend at the US Geological Service. He told me that they are alarmed by the frequency of quakes in the isolated area shown in the image below. These folks are rarely alarmed by anything. This cluster has them concerned.

I am sure glad that the emergency supplies are ready.

Yeesh...

That and the group near Sacramento are the ones that made me post that remark! It sure looks like a lot to me. If you go and look at the archived maps at that site, you can see how many more there have been over the last couple years. It's downright creepy.
