A bath my ****! LOL. But, should I find fleas on it I will.

Actually, maybe one of you smart folks can answer this one. During our research today one of the sites did say that if you find fleas you can gently bath it in Dawn. (Of course, you would have to do it in a warm place). Is this true? Can you do that? I know they use Dawn on lots of animals so it must be gentle enough. At this point I am hesitant to try anything.

i know dawn has a safe ph level, can also be used as a shampoo if needs called for it

tk it also sounds like this kitten is going through a seperation thingy u might want to try that tick tick idea and maybe a small stuffed animal, i dont know make it a small area of blankets so it can tunnel into ,see if that helps lower the MEOWS , worse case find one of its bros or sis and take it in too:rolleyes: pretty sure after that last advice my help is no longer needed lol

I was so happy to hear that it is playing with you and engaging. Unfortunately I have had to take back a couple of feral kittens I rehomed that didn't get socialized properly and they are still very skittish at 2 years old.

I'd call your vet and see if they don't have a flea shampoo they can recommend or will sell you. I have heard mixed results about the dish soap method and do not trust the over the counter flea products at all. Fleas really aren't something you want to mess around with not only because of the havoc they wreak on your home but also because they will dehydrate and kill a small one very quickly.

You could also try just washing it in water because I believe the fleas should die from drowning. Good luck!

the flea problem in AZ is nothing compared to what I had in CA. I bought a flea comb to deal with the problem. It was a pleasure for my cat. I sat in the bathroom and as the fur and fleas appeared on the comb, I dropped them in the toilet to flush.

The ear mites may be a different thing though.

We have no fleas here for me to comb though in Phx. Not in Tucson either.

Jules had said to handle every part of the kitten's body as part of the taming. It may give you a good idea of its ears not to mention how motherly it is to rub them.

Thanks! We are making progress with the little darling. Instead of a bath, I took a damp cloth and "cleaned" it. It started purring like crazy. It loved it. It must have felt like it's momma licking it. I did it a couple of times this afternoon/evening. Again, I did not see any fleas. I even cleaned it's ears and didn't see any ear mites.

It still likes it under the couch. But we have been picking it up a lot and it's starting to come around. When DD came home last evening (11 ish) the kitten heard her voice and just starting meowing and came part way out from under the couch on its own. It was pretty amazing. Throughout this evening it has been venturing out more as well as playing more. It is starting to explore it's surroundings.

I checked this evening and I really think it is a girl. But, I am not that knowledgeable in "checking" that area on animals. It's just not something I do every day. It did look like an exclamation point to me but I only got a quick look. Once we know, DD will name it. She was going to name it after the restaurant she works at but it is an Italian girls name. So, I suggestion Corley as that would work for a male or female.;)
