Default Feeling lonely. What can I do?

I am feeling lonely; I am feeling blue.I had so many expenses and car problems that I cannot afford to go on vacation this year. I am trying to read my way out of this period of depression. I found one writer that eases my mind. She is a writer of romance mysteries. Her name is Barbara Delinsky. I finished reading A Woman's Place. She is very perceptive and she offers a lot of insight.

Does anybody have any suggestions for other fiction writers/ books? Thanks.

Books, Movies, Music and TV Talk

You might wander in there and see if anyone has any suggestions.

I do a lot of reading, but mostly legal thrillers...some of my favorite authors are Vince Flynn, John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, Sandra Brown, JA Jance, Michael Connolly, Lisa Scottoline, WEB Griffin, that sort of stuff...

I just finished reading Janet Evanovich's latest book. It's funny. She writes a series of funny books about a bounty hunter who gets herself into all sorts of wild trials and tribulations with her gang of idiot helpers!!

There is a series of books often called "the Mitford series" by Jan Karon, they are lovely, light reads and you grow to care very much about the characters. Here's her website:
http://www.mitfordbooks.com/

She is a Christian author, but has nothing to cram down your throat, she writes about people, they're truly terrific stories!

A enthralling book is a good distraction, but no substitute for an antidepressant when we may need one. If this keeps up (lonely & blue), be sure to mention it to your doc.

When I was at my worst with this disease, and I needed to go through that next transition, I found autobiography-type books, like "Climbing Higher" (Montel Williams) and "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life" (Lance Armstrong), inspirational, and they helped me gain perspective.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

In the non-fiction genre, a super fun and insightful book is Personality Plus by Florence Littaur. She has made a career out of public speaking and her basically Hypocratic approach to human interaction. It's a fun read and she includes her pretty famous personality test for you to take.

Many of my friends and I have stayed up all night doing this test on one another. It's a ton of fun to guess which "type" other people in your life are. I recommend it highly!

Default Thank you!

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful suggestions. It is hard to find good books and it is a little depressing when you cannot find any. Now I have lots of possibilities! I am on antidepressants and have been on them since diagnosed with ms. They really help. I cannot account for what I was feeling but definitely knew I was feeling 'blue'. I knew I had to reach for help. Thank you all so very much.
