I'm with you guys, I used to love showers and baths. Bathing is out, because I can't get myself back up out of the tub, I don't want DH hurting himself trying to help me out, and we don't own a CRANE yet!
![]() Can't stand up for long in the shower, so I sit on a Rubbermaid stool that I find is easier than a chair and doesn't make me feel as handicapped. It's thigh-high, and very stable. Then, I use the grab bars attached to the shower walls to stand back up again, and hold onto until I'm safely out. What a royal pain. But, I must have my nightly shower. I can't stand to get into bed without it. My hair is very short, no problem there, and I love it. After my shower, I put on my sweats or gown depending on the temp, then go sit in my recliner and read or watch a little TV. That gives me a chance to rest up before the going-to-bed routine!

I love my shower. It's a walk-in type with a bench on either side so I can either sit or stand. I've never had this type of shower until I moved into this house. I never knew how much I'd come to love (and depend) on it!
Even though it wears me out some days I take a shower every day.....and in the summer sometimes twice a day. There's something about taking a cool shower before going to bed in the summer that makes me sleep better. Sometimes it's the only thing I do in a day.....get up, take a shower, put on clean jammies and lounge around the rest of the day. ![]()

Thanks every one!!! It helps to say it to people who understand and don't think I've grown three heads lol.
I'm so glad the DD is 7 and takes care of herself in the shower now. I used to have to go every other day with her I couldn't do both and every thing else that needed doing. It's getting hotter in CT which means every day showering will soon be a necessity.. but what are you going to do ![]() I'm worried about the electric bill this summer if I don't find a job soon. I have worked in a grocery store for years so always had AC to get me through ![]() Oh well this to shall pass. ![]()

i like my showers too and sometimes i skip a day if i don't have to go out.
i have a seat but don't use it. what really tires me out is if i have to wash my hair. it's short but still needs to be styled. my muscles hurt so much that i like my water hot but have to watch that too. i allow time to sit and rest afterwards. talk about using your "spoons". it takes about 2 for that project.

I wonder what it is about this ... I can go out and work in the yard for 3 hrs, or clean my cars in the sunshine for most of the day ... but I dislike having a shower too?
I was always an "every day" kinda' gal, since I wanted to look my very best for work. I was in mgmt too, so I guess I had to look polished and business-like ... greasy hair just didn't cut it. Maybe it's partly because I don't HAVE to look my best any more, i.e. "I can", and partly because I hate the sensations I'm left with for an hour or two after. It makes me weak, buzzing and numb . . . feelings I want to avoid. If you think about it though, my mom came from a farming family, and they only had bath's once a week ... whether they needed it or not. ![]() My mom, even in the 80's, would "sponge bath" most of the time, and probably only bathed a couple of times a week. Every Saturday she went and had her hair done at the beauty parlor, and the rest of the time she just piled more hairspray on. ![]() I think maybe we've become a bit phobic about cleanliness because of convenience of having built in showers/baths, and because "perfection" is drilled into us with the media influence. I'm wondering though, has anyone noticed that they don't grow much hair (legs, pits, etc.) as they are aging, or could that have something to do with the MS? ![]() Cherie

I'm an oddball too; I love showers. I can't take baths anymore, and my showers are a little cooler, but I just gotta do it, and everyday. I love having lots of paraphenilia--fun shampoos and soaps and such. The other day my husband bought me some soap that was supposedly concocted by Napoleon for his wife, and I was in ecstasy.
I have crazy curly hair, and if I don't wash it in the morning, it becomes very, very scary. I also do my makeup on work days, at the very least, I'll do foundation, eyeliner and mascara. I have stabbed my eye with the mascara wand a few times, and I've screwed up my eyeline a zillion times, when my tremors are especially bad. It takes me a long time to get ready in the morning anymore, but I feel so much better about myself at work when I'm made up. My weekday morning routine includes rest after my shower and rest after the makeup, but it's worth it to me, for work anyway. ![]()
