How far is the drive to Cleveland for you? I believe they have good TOS expertise at the Cleveland Clinic. I think flying to California (especially for Dr. Filler) will be a waste of time for you. You have a very complex case and Filler is not equipped for these IMO. Here would be my recommendations for you to look into:

Cleveland Clinic: Dr. Daniel Clair
St. Louis: Dr. Thompson
Denver: Dr. Brantigan (there is a Dr. Annest there as well)
Massachussets: Dr. Dean Donahue
Maryland: Dr. Julie Ann Freischlag
I agree with Marc, in regards to dr. F. He doens't have the rep these other dr's have and has never been published. Dont buy into the website and sales pitch!

No, I don't think so. I'll ask my wife to take a close look at me tomorrow. She claims to be quite good at spotting those that have suffered from this, even actors on TV.

Nospam, you would definitely know if you'd had it. It's a virus.

When I was seen at the ER the other night, they did a CT scan and said everything was normal.

The doctor said I had Bells Palsy and gave me steriods and antibiotics.

I think that it is related to my TOS.

Cleveland is 6 hours away.

I saw on the list that there is a doctor in louisville KY which is about 4 hours away. Any know anything about the doctor? It says plastic / Hand.

Erdogran Atasoy, MD (Plastic/Hand Surgery)
Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center, Louisville, KY

moltra: I think your gut instinct of facial issues and their relation to TOS is correct. The steroids may make you feel better for a bit, but the antibiotics will do nothing.

I have/had a lot of facial symptoms over the years - numbness, twitching, some vision and the sensation of things crawling on my face. All are related to TOS and the compression of the nerves which Nospam mentioned. I have a friend with TOS whose eye droops on one side. She has been tested for Horner's, but thankfully it's not. It comes with flares and recedes as things calm down.

I have been facial symptom free for over 8 months, but I was yelling at a sports game on Sunday and now my face is flaring. Neck muscles got tight and the cycle begins. I can reduce a lot of the symptoms by going inside my mouth and releasing trigger points. Some of the others arise from the cranial nerves and will need to be worked out by my PT.

From your list of potential Doctors, if it was me, I'd look at the Cleveland Clinic and Donahue. Good luck to you.

moltra, I have had the numbness and tingling in neck and face. It comes on when neck tightens up so I am sure it is scm that is causing the problems. I use to have the eye twitch no stop, but that stopped after the 1st rib resection. The face does not act up as much as it use to, but still does on occasion. I had my surgery at Cleveland Clinic with Dr Clair. I see him again May 17th for check of the right side. I have bilateral ATOS, but also NTOS. My right side has been getting worse even with all the pt done.

Yes Atasoy has written articles about TOS and is very familiar with it. I would definately check him out. If I can figure out how to post pdfs I'll send you the article.

My wife said the exact same thing when I asked her. Bells Palsy is caused by a virus and is not related to TOS. Bells Palsy causes facial paralysis, not just the numbness that bmr19 and I experienced.

Moltra. definitely follow up with your doctor (not the ER) to determine if it is really Bells Palsy or if the TOS could be causing the symptoms. ERs are clueless when it comes to neurogenic TOS.

I normally see a doctor at the local Veteran'sAdministration Hospital. I am tired of going to see them, they have not done anything to help my condition for years. They send me to PT for a couple of weeks, and tell me to take Moltrin.
